    Just a tip: Spraying your frames with sugar water is not really a great idea because bees hate wet areas to walk on. The best thing you could do it place one drop of lemongrass oil into the back of the hive and let it bee.

    I have a brand new hive without any drawn honey or wax. Will the bees stay once i put them inside?

      @4dhoneybee107  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes. Entice them to draw out comb by spraying sugar water on the frames

    I'm a bit curious how long you've been able to get those cardboard style boxes to last?
    I get that you wouldn't want to do them too long like that, but there's something fascinating about trying to save a buck.
    I also wanted to ask if there's a heavy duty type spray bottle type similar to what you are using? Something that won't break fast? I know there's lots of them in the market but most break down pretty fast, and are sort of cheap plastic that won't endure well. So I've not been able to get them to last. Maybe someone knows which ones last better?

    • @4dhoneybee107
      @4dhoneybee107  Před 3 lety

      No one said they were trying to save a buck those boxes are mostly for transport but mine have lasted 5 years. I keep them inside tho

    The less active nuc is White, reflecting heat. The brown nuc absorbs more heat. Enough evidently to make the bees in the brown nuc more active

      Most bees in North America are from bees imported from the old world and have been selected to be gentle. Look up:

      No cut comb, easier to keep hive beetles in, harder to treat, wax moth adore them. Can't harvest wax without a huge hassle, some bees just don't like them, and they don't spin out as easily.
      But; they don't fall apart and need repairing at the worst possible times either.
