On paper, a FWD Alfa with a heavy V6 and 250hp shouldn't work, but my God, it's one of the best things I've driven in ages. As for the noise...you guys are in for a treat!

"Please don't love it, please don't love it...........shit!"
Alfa Romeos summed up perfectly in a single sentence.
😂😂😂😂😂LOL. True tho
Please don't love it, please don't love it ...... fuck it I need one
happened to me when i went for a test drive in a GT
@@camiel221 i have a GT aswell. Now i dont want anything else then a alfa haha saving up for a v6 alfa now😁
Or a single word. The last word in that sentence.
This is my car. Massive thanks to Alex and the guys, great day filming and a superb video. Really done the GTA justice. Don't be put off by the cost, look after them and they look after you. An appreciating modern classic worth £12-15k for the very best (for now!).
What an absolutely brilliant car. Congrats to you.
Michael Woolford hi what exhaust is on and what mods did you do to the exhaust?
Stunning car, that sound is pornographic
Michael Woolford this car gets a hell yea brother for that sound. Wish we got them here for that sweet sound. Hell of a car, man!
Great setup you have on the car! Exactly the right upgrades on it, no expenses spared!
hands down, alfa has some of the most beautiful rims ever
And exhaust note.
That chrome engine parts tho... Beautiful
for sure
These were ENGINES... pure sound, without horrible plastic...
Intake manifold that is actually beautiful and not drawn on a piece of plastic with crayon
@@blackmafia6031 Clearly you don't know it.
I think black mafia means to say the gta has real engine sound unlike some cars nowadays...
Railfan Leo, he wasn’t saying it didn’t have fake engine noise, eejit
not a vag shit
Not a misfit. A legend.
Until the trans goes and the twinspark fucks everything
Unco Casey only down to poor maintenance look after your car it will look after you
Huh? They're not a t-spark.
Chris Upton yeah lmao wrong motor. Thought it was the 4cyl one
The car, the myth, the legend
This is 4 years old now. I still come back just to relive the first 46 seconds for this absolute dream of a busso sound!
That Alfa 3.2 V6 really is one of the greatest engines ever
Owned several Alfa 3.0 V6s and you just couldn't shut that engine off before 10-20s of blipping the throttle to about 5k. Such a glorious, quintessential Italian burble-into-high pitch wail they make. It almost makes your cry, like a beautiful Italian engine opera!
Think of the sound the Alfa Busso V6 makes as like the automotive equivalent of an orchestra.
Josh Bacon a straight piped 2009 touareg v6 (catless, no resonator, no muffler ) sounds the same
Aleixei Demirov but it's a boat 😂
I went to look at a 2.5 156, thinking v6 up front, understeer, I won't like driving it, then when i looked under the bonnet, the seller revved it.....Sold to the guy with goosebumps, Its the induction that adds class to the sound btw
Most definitely. As well as the Lexus LFA. Except the LFA's payments can be higher than a mortgage
Busso V6 has a very distinctive, different note than the other V6s... anyone who heard one in person can confirm that and that's one of the special things about them. It's great sound is not coming only through exhaust as in others, but also from the engine bay and that not even BMW or VW could accomplish yet. It's one thing when You hear it on video and completely other as live experience.
Awesome production quality. This automotive channel is truly an inspiration.
Vehicle Virals laughable comment. Go watch savagegeese and then say the same thing
Tom Milldridge I've said the same thing on that channel as well. Both great channels imo
I know, I bet Top Gear or MT steals him someday.
I read the first sentence thinking this was about the car......
@@elliotthale1835 yeah, and look at what they now upload... I would love more like this now
Im on my third Alfa and honestly I dont think I will ever drive anything else. I truly love them and unless youve had one, youll never understand.
I had a 2.0 Giulietta back in the day.
I'm the same with Land Rovers mate. It's a sickness. Your's is just a different flavour...
Of course there is an upside, you get to become a mechanic :)
I own a 156 SW and a 9-5 Aero. Both are so hard to beat for their buying cost...
Bought a Giulia QV - no going back ☘️
How is that? Currently drive 1 series and I love it, it handles great so I can't imagine fwd being better or that great?
I understand you perfectly,friend.
Im on my 4th, and its the same color 147:2.0 ts. Just cant drive nothing else now. Cause I can not afford Lambo....
Giuseppe Busso, funny fact, was not a graduated engineer, i learn himself how to. Old school badass mind... we really miss this kind of man today.
Giusto
grande la foto di un fiat serie 90 :) e grande alfa!
@M A I was tought 69 at school. Incredible teacher.
God blessed him with good health, he lived 93 years
Fact. In my town was a guy that didn’t finished highschool, started fixing washing machines and then started making little helicopters. Now he has an international helicopters company. For training, transport and even military
Nicely filmed and edited, you are getting close to old top gear/Grand Tour quality
David S. Ah good ols old top gear. Who only knew how to vignette every shot and shoot from angles (or black the windscreen out in tbe edit) to help hide the fact its not the 3 presenters driving but almost always a pro driver
Oh for sure 👍
Agreed completely
they've definitely surpassed that in terms of videography/audio/editing
yes because we want shit music masking the engine note and a Clarkson wannabe spitting shit from Wikipedia whilst trying to be vaguely comedic
I just rewatched this. It's a classic and part of the reason you guys have done so well. Superior production. I hope you get that GTA one day. I have a GT!
This 13-minute clip is way better than all of the new Top Gear episodes.
One of the most beautiful engines in a compact car. Extinct race since this year! R.I.P nice 6-cylinder Hot hatches!!!
alfa's engine is the best sounding v6 ever. you got to agree
congrats on the 2m subscribers
simocreations I can think of 3 fwd v6’s that sound better and all 3 are more reliable. Check out my page if you wanna see some other sexual v6 noises
Each his own, for me the best sounding v6's are the vq engines from Nissans.
No, this sounds like shit! it has no growl, no body, just hippo farts, that's what it sounds like: a ricer fart can exhaust.
My personal favorite is the Mazda KLZE
You should hear the Camry v6 in the Lotus Exige 430 or Evora 410/430. Imo the best v6 sound
OMG the editing is awesome, well done guys
I have an standard 147 and I'm in love with it. 14 years after it was released people sometimes keeps staring at it when I'm on the road. A real beauty. But this GTA is stunning, that engine sound is insane.
it was once said that Alfa in their production line began to start with the engine sound then build a car around it.
Alex is the person. Who SHOULD BE, on topgear. Then it would be worth watching.
I really think they should hire him after the trio departure
Dicey punctuation, but I agree.
And Mat Watson from Carwow
Having Alex wouldn't change the site format of top gear.
You should swap that engine into Phil, get the best of both worlds. You were already thinking V6 so why not!
He already has the v6, it's gonna get swapped soon, it's a jag 3.2 I think, and it's getting taken care of by rocketeer which is a company that makes swap kits for those engines.
Nah GTA's are rare enough
Ante Radić the 3.2 Busso is in a lot of other Alfa’s as well. No need destroying a gta for it.
Sybjeee 2.5 versions are, 3.2 versions are only in GTA's
Ante Radić are you sure? I believe they were also used in the 166, gtv, spider and even in a Lancia..
Great video! Car throttle production quality is up their with the best on tv not to mention CZcams. This brought back amazing memories for me as I owned an exact replica of this car (in original state) and it still is to this day, 15 years later, one of the best engines I have ever driven. Keep up the great work car throttle.
Apparently, it brings a lot of joy to the driver, and a lot of suffering for mechanics. It's a true italian car, after all...
I had more( a lot, for a lot of Money) than problems with my Porsche 1990 964 C4, 2003 Mercedes E 220 CDI and 1999 VW Passat 1.9 TDI that with 1986 Fiat Panda 0.9 FIRE, 1988 Fiat Uno 1.3 Diesel, 1990 Fiat Uno 1.1, 2007 Fiat Punto 1,3 Mjt (Used Like a Tank). With my Fiat i have only One Big Problem : Change Oil every 20.000 km,for almost one million km in all my Fiat
Suffering is for stupid mechanics that fix cars by guesswork. I have a 156SW with almost 300k on it and it's going strong. Find a specialist, learn how cars work or shut your mouth.
@@VSgrPistolStar excuse me, for waking this old comment but, 20k?! thats abit too much isnt it? most of the cars should be changed in like 10k km, cant imagine how bad the oil would be after 20k
@@NamelessDemon_ What you say is true. But if you use a good oil you have no problems. On my Fiat Punto 1,3 Mjt (diesel) the Fiat service (oil change) was every 30,000 km.
@@VSgrPistolStar i mean i have 156 2.4 jtd that also says that the change should be every 30k, but i just simply dont trust it cause the oil allways looks like shit after 10k, even thought that it is high quality
You are not a true petrol head until you own an Alfa. A quote from a pubic haired semi wise lanky Englishman. 😂😂
At the very least you need to have driven one for a bit.
We were GONNA buy one with a V6, but engine on it broke before we went to pick it up :/
ToreDL87 damn that sucks. I've never owned an Alfa or a Saab but the both have piqued my interest. The sound from this Alfa is amazing though.
Steve My dad is getting a Stelvio Super as a company car so he basically qualifies as a petrolhead
Hugo's he definitely does. Has your dad's company have any vacancies 😂😂
Steve have you had a alfa? 🤑
I watch this everyday to put myself in a good mood
I have one just like this and you definitely did this car justice! Fell in love as soon as I had the test drive and I bought it AS SOON as I could
I still have a 166 3.2, best car I ever had, same engine, more comfort and build quality, a VERY underrated car on par or better than any series 5 of his time. The engine it's amazing.
Busso is the best V6 ever made. End. The reason I bought my 155 V6. One pull in 2nd and I was done.
I'm sorry I ever sold my 155 V6. Best car I ever owned.
I got a 164 Q '95 and same here.. 2nd gear pull took my heart in an instant
@@Ainkoe I once let a friend drive mine and had to ask him to stop hitting the rev limiter, especially in 2nd. Lovely free-revving engine that pulled well. The soundtrack was epic.
@BassVentura Yes ,sure, no doubt, evetybody who knows about engined agreed.
@BassVentura given its history and various iterations it is undoubtedly one of the best if not the best na v6 engines out there mate. Go on, try one and bounce off the limiter over 7k then come back here and leave your comment. ;)
My ultimate Alfa Romeo: Giulia Q platform, manual gearbox and interior + naturally aspirated longitudinal placed Busso V6 + 159 exterior.
Brera exterior would be even better...
I really dig this series Car Throttle! This is the perfect list of supporting mods to really make the car shine, bravo!
Dude, this is awesome material. Very well done, reminds me how much I enjoyed Top Gear on the good ol' days.
Owned 2 Alfa Romeo GT's, loved them. Alfa is just something different, especially in Germany, where you always see the same boring shit like Audi or VW
German normies are fanatic with their country (they must use their country product), that's may the reason why there are many audi, vw and bmw.
TAKUMI FUJIWARA Geht mir genau so... Fahre einen Croma Turbo und ein Coupé 20VT. Und nen Tipo hab ich auch noch. Leider nur als 1.4er :)
Ich hab ne Scheune voller Autos:
Fiat Uno 70s Hobby Blau Uni
Fiat Tipo GT Silber Metallic
Fiat Tipo 1.4i.e Bordeauxrot Metallic
Fiat 128 CL Hellblau Metallic
Fiat Punto HGT Abarth (188) Rot
Fiat Grande Punto (199) Gelb
Toyota Corolla GT-i 16V Rot
Every true petrolhead should at some point own a car with a busso V6, it is a glorious engine.
Not a Busso, but an Alfa Romeo. For my next car I want a 147 with either the 1.6 or 2.0 TS.
@@GECKOZFTW I had a 2.0 147 as my first car. It is by far the most fun per buck you could ever have
And an all wheel drive, a rear wheel drive with an in line 6, a swedish turbo sedan, and an in line 4 lightweight hothach
@@lucasklein2008 yeah I just got a 159 1.9jtdm 120bhp, could not have gotten a better first car I don't think
@@MrMinecrafter720 That car is super slow, its too heavy for that engine, shouldhave went for the 16v version with 150bhp
I love genuine content, great to hear every aspect of cars from the best to the worst, keep it up you legends!
Top notch video! The mechanics talk was greatly appreciated. Well done CT!
I owned a busso powered Alfa for 6 years and all it gave me was joy, glorious noise, fantastic car, I now own a V8 Audi and I’d swap it for a sorted busso Alfa in a heartbeat.
Owned a Q2 for almost 9 year, simlpy an amazing car with superb dynamics and driving pleasure. Too bad FCA hasn't launched a proper replacement yet, the Giulietta is ages away from the 147 in term of looks and sportyness
Love your channel. You are the rebirth of Jeremy Clarkson. Much love. The in depth dive with the mechanic was genius. You should do this on all your videos. So helpful to anyone who owns this car. You da man keep it up!!!!
Even my old 147 1.6 felt special and the GTA from the videos looks just gorgeous!
Motoring meets humour....keep it up my friend
the best sounding v6 EVER MADE
Nah, close at best. Dino V6 is king.
R32 golf for me.
Because gtr is I4
Nail Huh? What GTR are you talking about? And what does an I4 even have to do with this?
Oh come on GT-R please ahaha
As of watching this, I have ran out of old top gear episodes to binge rewatch so here I am and I have to say, it's just as good.
I found an unmolested 147 GTA, modified the ride (suspension), fixed a Q2 slip diff, and it's a blast. Buy one now, this is where value will go up. Just look at Lancia Delta Evos.
The list of mods is extensive
Lists 3 things
listen at the end and realise a lot more has been done.... "mods" arent all super interesting flashy power mods
Micheal's car is spotless. Had the pleasure of seeing it at Auto Italia last year. You should try a 147 Ducati Corse!
Thank you for doing 147 GTA, i asked for it on Fiat coupe video and you did it. Thank you m8 i hope you had fun driving it :)
Couldn't agree more, great opening.....sums it up perfectly.... i had that feeling back in the 80's....2 Alfasuds, 33 Ti, 75 TS, 3.0 v6 164, 147 2.0 TS and now a 156 veloce oiler sportswagon later.....when I find a good GTA in the auctions it's coming home with me...the v6 was the best by far....
Alfa amore! I have an 18 year old 145, still fantastic.
I honestly do not care what you guys do at this channel, as long as Alex presents it!
Just rewatched this, this exact video is the reason i fell in love with the channel
Took the plunge on my first Alfa after this. A GTV CUP v6 which I’ve fitted a wizard exhaust and it sounds absolutely mental! Such an event to drive anywhere
Wrong car - you want an 147 Multi valve diesel. I bought one brand new and the Alfa dealer in Belgium where I was working at the time. He took it away to his mate to get it turned from the Fiscal 115hp. He came back with a big grin on his face and said that this one has gone well - about 200hp. As the main dealer organised the turning I kept the 3year g'tee. Boy it shifted and had fantastic economy. Was late for a ferry once and did silly speeds on the auto route and got 50mpg!!! I took it to Halfords, to get a headlight bulb changed and the guy was drooling over it. He said fantastic car - but I bet it is unreliable. He wouldn't believe me that when I told him that was the bulb blowing was the most major problem in over 30,000 miles. It's much lighter than the GTA with not far off the same horsepower, much more torque, and fantastic fuel economy.
Err, not that there is anything wrong with the diesel, in fact it's quite impressive how tunable there is. A 1.9 jtd will not be that much lighter than an all aluminium larger petrol engine, the diesel will have forged internals making it heavier per cubic measure.
The GTA is simply something else, the noise, the looks, the feedback, the character, it's addictive.
It is also very very quick and will hit 60 in about 5.6 seconds with modern tyres.
this thing is the best sounding engine I have ever heard ... I love it
I currently own a 1.6 Ti 147 04 as my first Car the sound and feeling is something else, even for a little 4 banger and absolutely have no regrets, having the same supersprint exhaust mind you
The legend awakes!! Brought tears to my eyes hearing the sound of that mighty engine 😩
What if someone with an Alfa 4C and a lot of money put the V6 from this car and a 6 speed into the 4C... sounds like a wet dream
As I could understand, a lot of 4C magic comes from low weight and its distribution. Busso would spoil that. Look up for Pogea Racing Alfa 4C for tangible dream
Before Alfa Romeo 4c, there was a prototype called Alfa Romeo Diva. Almost like a 4c but with Busso V6 3.2
And let's not forget the 8C
The 4C is perfect as it is.
If I had a cent for every time I pondered that...
Also if somebody ripped the V6 out of my 147 GTA and put it in to my Giulietta QV...
Now, it's time to review a Fiat Bravo 2.0 20v HGT...
I own a 3.0 V6 24V GTV, and love it! Nothing beats the sound of the Busso!
Great to see these cars getting some attention. Always underrated for no reason.
This things are quite expansive in the rest of Europe. Stock cars from the finest production years and 120-150k kilometers go for around 15k euros... The prices in the UK are just insane for car enthusiasts... A dream!
Thumbs up for that opening 20 seconds 😂👍
I come here once in a while to listen to this intro. This noise makes me feel things I thought I could not feel about a machine
Well you guys just won me back. You could do a 156 too. My car is a alfa romeo 156 Sportwagon V6 Q system. Amazing car. And the sound. The sound is just soo good. The sound makes the engine even better.
Who needs -PornHub- *(SOME INAPPROPRIATE WEBSITE)* when you got this?
Why not both?
Lol i have 2 monitors
Sadly only got one monitor XD
Pekay need to delete 2 likes actually 🙄🙄
Pekay says the one that has watched atleast 30hours of pornhub
Love this car! Own one myself, it's a beast!
amazing editing, especially the choice of background music
Fantastic review. I'm a CLK55 AMG owner, and I want this for my manual daily. Keep up the great reviews!
147 never gets old♥️
The 156 GTA handles just that little bit better with the additional weight over the rear wheels. It’s also rarer and has that special link to Maserati hand assembly. The 147 GTA is not far behind though!
Saw one recently at a petrol station. Best looking hatchback I’ve ever seen. The lines are incredible. Would love onr
Great video pal. Really liked the mechanic/autolusso part
Not a huge fan of alfas, but this engine looks absolutely amazing, and I really like this car overall
@carthrottle The intro was intense my guy I shed a tear after thy first Rev 😭🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Man this video is some fine craftmanship. Bravo!
Congratulations on two million subscribers!👍👏👏👏🍻
One of the best review of ever! Love Alfa Romeo! Greetings from Italy 🇮🇹
La meccanica delle emozioni
Busso V6 + Lancia Stratos kit car = heaven
watch Davide Cironi's videos. He is building a countach kit with V6 busso ;)
Or drop it into a 124 spider
1423 171 my dad had a 1980 one before I was born it looked beautiful from the pictures
Yeah it's a fun car mines an auto and that 455 is a monster chirps the tires at 60 when shifting to second it's only got a 2.73 rear end so it could be so so much quicker
I've owned an alfa romeo 159 sportwagon since the start of the year and can honestly say that it is such a pleasure to drive and be in, the interior of it is amazing with red leather and all black trim it really does feel special. You will always find problems with any car but more so with alfa romeo it's just one of them things that that give the car it's character
this video was nuts.... well done man
That engine sounds like * insert absurd Clarkson simile *
Antipolution regulations killed proper engines, like this busso or bmw inline six.
Sad that these don't get put into new cars anymore. But I'm happy antipollution regulations exist.
@@ActuallyAwesomeName Think about the VW scandal and you'll know that it's all a big bullshit.
That sounds like a sporty fun hatchback. Love that grill and headlights positioning. 👌
Can we really appreciate the passion and knowhow of the mechanic. These kind of people are the real heros
Alfa Busso V6 in phil maybe?
To bad this kind of engine doesn't exist anymore :-( it sounds and look so good !
Yep. The Giulia QV is twice as powerful, but the engine is bland compared to this.
but smile on every reviewer driving any Alfa Romeo!!! The brand truly dedicated to driver's satisfaction!
Hey! That's my GTA Ned is taking you round at Autolusso!!!
I wasn't aware it was going to (semi) feature on one of your videos. At least he didn't point out a ton of faults and problems I wasn't aware of.
Alfa=Emotions
My auntie used to have one when i was growing i used to have to best thrills in it! Sadley she had to get rid because the computer in it kept on breaking 🙁
I had one of these beauts in Gran Turismo 6. Nose dive and understeer were terrible, until I fitted an LSD and sports tyres. After these mods, it's one of the cars I drove most often as it was just fantastic. I can only imagine that driving one in real life is even better!
Love the series man!!! Keep it going!!!!
2.000.000 Million subscribers🎉🎉🎊 congratulations
Two million million?
At last Alex in an Alfa 147gta the best vlogers with the best cars alfas are real car
James Vickers all the people outside think italian cars are the badest cars ever made. But they're one of the best.
I own a Alfa Romeo 166 V6 3.0 w 226hp is jst the best car iv had from every purspective n it gets my pants wet every time i hear that blistering V6 n when i change oil i cant stop admiring at that gorgeously made V6 for hours
You gain my subscription with this video man.. Just perfect 🤤 alfas are special.. Love mine
That Busso V6 does sounds a lot better than the hybrid era of F1. Definitely makes a lovely musical instrument :)
Yes!!!
It sounds like a super car
Really well produced video, having an expert talking is a good thing
I wish i could own one
My mum owned the 2.0TS , i enjoyed every second driving it. I miss that car...
