That other Seth seems like a chill dude.
Looney, if this your demeanor all the time, I want you on once a week giving mechanic tips & tricks, maybe even a product review or two here and there. Nice job guys!!!
I've met him, he's like that all the time.
Hey Seth, thank you for making these videos. They really make my day just a little bit better.
Itâs surreal to see whatâs a sorta SBH video without a âkâ (or M) after the view count. This series is great so far!
I stuffed my cushcore in the dryer for 5 min on high and installed on the rim so easily. Very playable when its warm! little Xtra soap and water on the beads and installed it all by hand with no tire irons. really is easy to install and an awesome product.
Some of the best tips for installing Cush Core. Especially like using gravity and pushing the Cush Core on from top of the wheel down.
From my experience, a used Cushcore insert is easy to remove and install compared to a brand new Cushcore insert. Brand new they are monumentally difficult to install.
Looney's chill yet has a lot of on-camera presence. Nice. I don't ride hard enough to need cush core, but best vid yet on how to install.
Wow. Even with these very good instructions this was earns an 8.5/10 difficulty rating in my book. Marginal gains. It would be easy to break a tire lever getting that last little bit of some of the less loose fitting tires. I used XR4 cheap Bontragers, designed for sealant, but not TR, and maybe a bit tight. I used Muc Off bike cleaner as the lube, nano slippery stuff, to help things seat up, which they did immediately. 60 PSI with a compressor. Off to ride em in. Cheers.
Just used this video to install cushcore for the first time. Damn excellent advice. Not going to say it was super easy, but it wasn't much harder than installing a really tight tire. Make sure you have long tire levers. It makes it more comfortable pushing the bead in. Something longer than Pedro's levers. I used a crank brothers lever and a "blue multipurpose plastic scraper" from Amazon with the corners sanded off.
That looked much easier than what I have always heard about installing Cush core. Would love to see bike shop mechanic hacks.
Pat told me how to do it and he's the best mechanic so Cush Core was easy.
A video about servicing a dropper post would be great đđŒ I really love the first episodes of this serie.
Great series! Love to see more like this.
Never seen someone pop a tire on a cushcore with that much ease. Thanks for the tips
He'a a natural for presenting videos.
This is a really good video
Hope to see more of this dude in the future
I didn't know Seth had a 2nd channel featuring other players. Nice and Pat seems like a perfect fit.
That is actually the best video I've seen on how to install Cushcore.
Just discovered this new channel liking it so far
Love this "mechanic stuff" videos
Awesome video! I love these quick easy videos man! thanks!
Pat, thanks for the trail route the other day! I ride it every time I go up to pisgah! Guy with the Abus hat a few months back. That downhill really hauls ass!
Really great video and tips! Thank you for sharingđ
This is the easiest looking way to put Cush core in that Iâve seen. Iâve been so daunted by this that my box of brand new Cush core has been sitting in my garage for over a month. But, now that Iâve seen a legit mechanic from a legit shop show me, I have a lot more confidence! Canât wait to get my hands on a big trash can and get to it! Thanks guys!!!!!
Don't let this video mislead you, a brand new cush core will not go on as easy as he did it. He literally didn't even have to force it on, it just slid on. This shows that the cush core he has was used before and had been stretched over time. Sure, it may not be as hard as many videos show, but it's also not THIS easy. Good luck, sir.
Jon L The actual Cush core instructions say to use a hammer so Iâm not saying itâs impossible but it sure as shit isnât as easy as he did it
verdict ? Success or Failure ?
Iâve put cushcore in both front and back on my meta. Itâs definitely not easy the first time, but once youâve done one itâs a much easier process for the second. You definitely need a compressor (which I donât have!) or a pressure can (which is what I used) to reseat the bead once in, as youâll never get it to seat with a floor pump.
Thanks for the instruction! Wicked cool!
i like this guy please keep him around
Thanks for video!!! Did this for the first time today and wow, not bad at all but I can see pulling out what little hair i have left if I didnât know the trick you sharedđ
You make that look so easy!
Looney is the man
Hey Seth, I love your videos!
I love your videos and you have inspired me keep up the good work
Thanks for that Seth was really really handy to have somebody show me how to do it
Great video. Liking the new channel. So many variables affect this. Tire width, casing (DD's and DH casings are a MF'er), and also the rim itself. Rims that have a narrow deep channel....good luck. Rims that have a very shallow channel...good luck. Rims with and offset channel....good luck. It's all about getting that second side to bead, and without room to get it pushed in past the CushCore, it makes it a world harder in my experience. I'm not saying they are impossible, and especially for someone like Looney with experience, but it's definitely easier if you have a nice wide-deep channel, and a more standard casing tire. I believe in CushCore. It works and does the things they say it does. I just ran into trail issues that made me decide that unless I'm racing Enduro or DH, the Pros don't outweigh the cons.
So cool to see you Patrick on seths channel
Great and to the point
Hadn't set a new tire on a wheel in I don't know how many years, but went and got CushCore to match up for a hardtail I'm building. I was successful on the front with a new DHF, though it felt like I had just arm wrestled a gorilla. The rear was actually the one I attempted first, but gave up (probably too soon) and removed the CushCore, mounted it just tubeless (will try it again after running the tire a little to loosen it more). I was able to set both with a floor pump without any trouble (it's not a high volume pump either, just some $70 thing from Amazon that had high ratings). Also, didn't use tire levers much and just muscled it and thought "so this is why Seth has those forearms".
For anyone having issues seating the bead with a foot pump, try pumping the tyre up with an inner tube in first. Then deflate and remove one side of the tyre, insert the tyre insert and put the tyre back on. It also helps to spray soapy water on the bead and rim once the tyre on on. The just pump as hard as you can without the valve core to seat it, add the valve core and re-inflate.
Hey Seth, can you so a video on tire. And the Purpose of cuch core. Thank you for the awesome video's, they are a great training guide.
Ty buddy just got the box of cushcore, now I have the clue to install easily đđđđđđđđđđ
Yea loony thanks 4 helping start this channel!!! And taking Seth's place
Love these videos. I would like to see how to go from a 3x to a 1x. Also how to eliminate chain noise.
Go to a 2x, same range as 12 speed but with a much stronger chain.
Thanks!
Need more of pat
That was one of the BEST insert installation videos!
Great weight adder. I'm happy with my 26" Spank wheels and tubes.
I never knew you could inject sealant through the stem, I always thought itâs gum up the stem making and using the valve core difficult and or impossible to place back in. Thatâs cool to know.
Eventually it does plug up but get a pic and pop out the solidified sealant in the valve and good to go. I always put sealant in through the valve.
God, that Mondraker looks awesome
Bring this back
I like this video, I like the ABC video. I'd love a 201 bike maintenance. Like, how often should I be bleeding my brakes? Any hacks on checking chain spacing? How often should pivots be greased?
Iâd like to see a video on tuning a suspension fork. Air valve, thumb turn knob, lock/unlock, turtle/rabbit, plastic insert thingys...I have a nice fork but no idea where to begin making adjustments.
could you make a video on how to service a fork? keep up the good work.
I'd love to see a video on trailside repair/change if you get a cut/flat on a cushcore tubeless setup.
Then you're screwed.
Your not screwed anymore than you would be normally. Once they've stretched out they are super easy to install or uninstall. I have struggled with a old insert going in a new tire (tire keepes popping insert out of the bead) but just be persistent and if possible have some strong thumbs.
Great video. Made it look soooooo easy. You should check out Skills wit Phil, it didn't go as smooth for him đ.
At the end why did you push the tyre beed, under the cush core??
What stem valves are you using? I find the Cushcore ones suck when adding sealant.
Today I learned Seth's last name. Never thought about it.
Now you can stalk him!
What is it

if you hav tight tire and rim combos i find it easier to get one side of the tire on first, then put the cushcore in, then do the other side of the tire. takes me 5 minutes to install this way, super easy!
I am thinking of purchasing CushCore XC, I have a set of enve m60' have just installed new Maxxis tires, I am too hoping to pop one side slide it in then re seat tyre on wheel, whats your thoughts, or ytricks to do it.
My DH bike is at a shop rn and they are installing my crush core for me but Iâm worried because they didnât even know what Cushcore was. I hope they read the instructions đ
Hey pat, you should get squat jumps bikes to sponsor seth
Nice
Getting it on isn't what I'm worried about. It's getting it off if the rim tape doesn't work like it should.
Finally someone who got the tire off in one piece. Don't want to have to cut it to shreds.
For anyone that reads this - DON'T BUY WTB tubeless tires and wheels. They are an absolute PITA to get on and off. I don't know if it's the tire or wheel that is the main problem but I have to use a screw clamp to force the tire bead out of the bead seat. And that's without Cushcore. No way I can push it by hand with any tool. Which also means you need a screw clamp in your bag if you're using tubes and need to fix a flat on the trail. Hopefully Maxxis tires will solve my problem.
This may work flawlessly with Maxxis tires and used cushcores, but try your luck with Eddy Current rear and a new plus Version cushcore.
Great video. Maybe you could do a tutorial on how to convert your bike from a 3x to a 1x
2x has same range and a stronger chain.
I like it
I don't have a torque wrench but my stem requires equal torques or else it'll squeak. Any suggestions or tip?
Wish mine went on that easy. Took me 45 minutes to do one, then broke the other wheel during install. I'm sure I was the laughing stock of the bike shop. Having said that, I do like the Cushcore, after it was all finished.
wheel building!
If you follow the instructions to the letter ... it's a 10 minute process. One other tip I found useful is to use some leather gardening gloves if you use tons of soapy water.
You, Sir, have an insanely loose tire/rim combination. A godsend I didnât have the luxury of experiencing when installing my cushcore. The thing is, you literally need two people and steel levers to put the tire on WITHOUT the cushcore, so after trying for about an hour and not even being able to seat one bead, I gave up. Installing the tire with a tube still took like half an hour. Iâve never experienced such a tight combo.
I've got a Maxxis Shorty Wired Tyre and i feel you. that was one hell of a workout to get it on :D
It's easy if you do it right no matter what wheels and tires.
Either im the biggest weenie ever- this video showed the easiest wheel/ tire/ cush core combo ever, OR this dude is frickin heman.
I followed the directions to the t on a cushcore i just removed and where he slides the last piece of bead in i have like 2" of overhang to overcome getting the final section of the first bead in.
Holy crap
Is the process any different on plus/fat rims with cut outs?
Is this the Patrick Looney from Race Pace bicycles in MD? If so, I remember a Barnett's class back around 2010 that you were taking at the time. Still drumming on the side?
"You can use whatever tire sealant you wanna use..." Just don't use Finish Line. Cuz it doesn't work
How much sealant with cushcore in? Same amount on 29er 2.3
Bike sizing? I'm. 6"1 with a long trunk. Best to be fitted I guess? Legs a 30 in pants, tall on shirts
Sounds like 2:35 is key. Also, if you don't have tubeless ready tires, you may end up with a tire too tight to fit.
How do you clean your bike; what do you lube
Ethanthebeast56 Literally anything that moves or is a bolt
I missed the part about the valve pushing the CushCore insert up above it pushing the tire to the side. You might want to address this as well! Thanks.
You're putting back the valve core after you aired the tires?
He didn't cover that part well, but he did what a lot of people do, which is air it up without sealant to get the tire to bead onto the rim. Then you let the air back out of it, add sealant through the stem, and then air it back up with the sealant. It just keeps the sealant in the tire a little better, and it also serves as a "trial run" to identify any big issues that sealant can't address. If there's some sort of bad leak...like from a torn rim strip, or even a bubble on the tire that happens occasionally when the rubber can separate from the housing, you won't have to to through the hassle of removing the sealant and starting over.
Newbee asking..how many air tyre presure for 27.5 x 2.35 tyre with inner tube..my weight current 75kg..sory for my bad english..thx
How do you convert the old weird stem and Handel bars to the newer ones
If there's a threaded headset on the bike, you're mostly toast. You can use a threadless stem adaptor, but I personally wouldn't use them for mountain bikes.
@@stevendeckert6373 thanks
What is the advantage of a cush core?
đ đ đđđ
This is great but the easiest way his to go to Squatch, and let Pat do it for you
2:41 is that the crack that was "fixed"? đ .. And why a cush core. Just seems like extra weight to push up the hills?
With a brand new magic Mary, dtswiss ex471 rims and cushcore, it was near enough impossible for me to do it alone. I gave it my local bike shop and it took 3 mechanics to get it on. Donât be fooled by the ease of installation videos
Zac Higham I hear you. I got a Maci Mary and Nobby Nic hoping to reinstall my cushcores. I finally gave up and am riding wild without my cushcores.
kush core
Now do a Tannus Armor installation video.
Whatâs cush core used for?
Cushioning to reduce the chance of bottoming out and damaging a rim. If you don't run really low PSI or don't do big drops over rocky terrain, you don't need it.
PTS-1 is the tool number
It says âintallâ in the thumbnail
I cant believe this channel has only 336 subscribers
2.53k now đđđ
I can't believe you even care.
NW Budro so why did you bodered to reply my comment? So stupid
Do I need a cush core valve or is one of any kind ok
take a look at the cush core valves online, then look for others like it. they are different than regular valves, but other manufacturers make some that will work with cush core that are built pretty much the same as the cush core ones. but i'm pretty sure they come with the cush core when you order them, so you shouldn't need to buy them separately.
@@Jon-nz3dm Thanks
Yo
Removed a perfectly good tire?
I can't even get the first bead in. Watched multiple tutorials and everyone just pops it in with their hands. I just can't get it to go no matter what I try. What am I doing wrong?
Same
What is cushcore for?
Oscar S so that you dont hit the rim on drops when your running really low tire pressures
Whatâs Cush-core?
Envy M90 and a DH minion is an impossible match you will cry your self to sleep after trying to get that tire on, and if you do by some miracle you will definitely have destroyed the rim tape and it won't hold air.
Cushcore? The $150 foam? That's a premium high end product right there.
It's the cheapest suspension upgrade out there.
who would dislike this?
