How to Set CANBUS Settings on an Android Car Radio

In order to do this, you will need the password which is also given in this video (1617). For even more settings, use password: 16176699.
If you are using a different Android aftermarket radio than the one shown here, you may need a different password. Here is a list of common passwords for these types of radios. (If you come across a different password/code, please let me know in the comments section of this video)!

Have you installed an aftermarket Android Radio in your vehicle, but now the A/C, heater, or blower doesn’t work correctly? Changing the CANbus settings may fix the problem.
CAN bus refers to a “Controller Area Network” that is a vehicle bus standard that allows devices within the vehicle to communicate with each other without a host computer (such as your aftermarket radio communicating with your dual-zone A/C). In order for CANbus to communicate properly, each component needs to be using the same communications protocol. Different vehicles may have slightly different communication based on the features/functions that the car has.
A good example of this is a Honda Accord that has a single air-conditioning setting for the entire vehicle, vs the same vehicle with dual climate control. The communication between the A/C settings will be slightly different between these 2 different styles. If the wrong canbus setting is set, then certain functions won’t work.
In order for the aftermarket radio to work correctly, it needs to know which vehicle it is being installed in. Fortunately, you can set this in the settings of the Android Radio. This video walks through the process of entering the radio settings and changing the CAN-bus type.
Make sure you have installed the radio correctly! There is a “Y-cable” with green connectors. This should be used if you have a single climate control. It should NOT be used if you have a dual climate control vehicle. Just make sure you follow the instructions when you install the radio, and you should be fine.

What a legend thank you! this guide help me troubleshoot my Telsa style 9.2 inch android unit the CANBUS settings from the shiped unit was not set correctly and the A/C, fan, demister options was not working on the tablet interface, but going through the CANBUS settings similar to your one from 1:07 screen (btw my password to access th Factory settings was "8888", selected profile "cytong/Honda/Accord 7 (7 gen) and presto settings worked. Did a reset for good measure, happy days. Thanks again champ.

How do you find the password for the factory setting?
The password for the unit shown in this video is 1617. If you are using a different Android aftermarket radio than the one shown here, you may need a different password. Other passwords that may work include: 8888, 8317,123, 126. If none of those work, contact the manufacturer.

I have bought a Canbus adapter for my Honda FRV but FRV isn't in the Honda list, unfortunately.
Would i be able to set the Canbus adapter on another model like civic or CR-V etc and choose the year of my FRV? Or will that not work?

my aircond has been acting funny after i installed this china android player...i found ur video and decided to enter into the can setup but unable to find my vehicle type..but i did enter into the customised setup and 'close' all the temperature control and anything to do with air and so far my aircond is as cold as before i installed the android player...imagine i had change my aircond compressor and even did flushing and still the aircond technician with 20 years experienced couldnt find any problem with my aircond system...the aircond problem started after i installed the android player ( before that it was fine)...im still trying this 'close' all temperature and air related settings to see whther i got it right...hope for the best

Same issue.. For me i changed the canbus to Hiworld and enabled the AC climate control module so now i can see the AC controls but they're really laggy and the cooling is not like before. On the OEM it was quick and cool af. Now its just cool air but no cabin cooling
Hi, if you have dual climate control in the car, make sure you are NOT using the provided y-cable on the back of the unit. That should only be used for single climate control vehicles.
It can cause problems with AC if inadvertently used with a dual-climate control car.
Hi! Bro. Need a small help from you. I installed a android car radio in my honda accord 2006 single ac. Android 11. My question is why air conditioning function is appair on my Screen. I tried all canbus settings but it's same not working. Than talk to a shop guy who fixed it on my car. I asked all the connections thn I came to Canbus decoder is missing. He didn't fix it as he didn't get from supplier. So what do you think? Without that ac function will appear in Screen or not?

Can you show us using the AC/Heater? Does the app come up on screen with controls to adjust temp and fan speed or is it just the physical buttons?
When you turn either of the temp dials, the climate controls show up as an overlay on the bottom of the screen where you can interact with them either with the knobs or on the touchscreen. You can change this functionality in the settings, eg if you don't want the overlay on-screen, and just want to use the dials.

I have specific issue, on my android everything works fine, even ac works, but when i change the temperature on the rudder, i can even see on the screen that the temperature is changing, but for some reason, the signal is not sent and Im stuck at cold temperature, basically i cant change to heat, checked everything heating should work and worked with original radio. is there a way to force the info from the rudder so i can actually change the temperature

Hi. Just bumped into this guide from nowhere. I have installed a Chinese Android head unit which has started behaving strangely. It doesn't switch from the reverse view to the Android dashboard. The screen appears blank with the radar lines. Rest all is working fine.
That’s because you likely didn’t plug the reverse camera plug in. There’s a yellow male RGB plug on a harness that’s connect to the back of your android radio; that’s for reverse camera/wire. Connect that male yellow cable to another RGB cable; its a yellow female cable thats alongside all other RGB cables..
If you don’t understand I’m working on uploading mines soon and it’ll include the rear view camera.

Need to connect the OEM unit, reset the settings, remove the unit and then connect the Android unit back. Seems to be the reverse sensor setting that needs to be reset. Now facing another issue. Do let me know if you are facing it as well. The dates on the Android unit and the car speedo dash never match.

Hello, I have Android multimedia in the Golf 6, I adjusted something in the extra settings, and since then the multimedia doesn't remember switching songs on the right handle next to the steering wheel. I did a factory reset, but it doesn't help
Not sure which unit you have, but sounds like you need to go to the steering wheel re-mapping app. It allows you to set what each of the steering wheel buttons do. Good luck 👍!

I don't have a good solution for you. Contact the radio manufacturer and ask them. If that doesn't work, depending on how many choices you have for your vehicle manufacturer, may need to just try every one and see which one works!

It has an equalizer as one of the apps. The one in this video is an ezonetronics. I'd recommend getting as much RAM as you can, for faster/smoother operation. 👍

Hi, usually steering wheel buttons are configured from an app on the radio unit itself instead of through canbus settings.

I've not set up that particular model, but generally in the settings you need to select your geographic region so that it knows which radio bands and frequencies to make available. Make sure you've selected the correct region!

My was the same way. On this unit, the climate control is integrated into the radio.

It depends what you mean by canbus box. Canbus refers to the communication protocol that is used. To use this radio you wouldn't need a separate box in order for it to communicate. If you want to do something else like read error codes, then you would use something separate from the radio. Hope it helps.

So i need a radio and i see there is difference from head unit to head unit, mine is 9 speaker Jbl system and i would like that it gets steering wheel control and i see most of the radios have canbox with it. So im confused, if the one you have dont need canbox for can to work.

Sorry, I'm not sure. I guess it depends on which backup camera you have. I would recommend contacting the manufacturer if the instructions manual is not clear. 👍

@@bobreichel the red wire goes on the wire that says "back" or "reverse" on your androis wire cluster.. that is if you have attached it to the reverse lights on the other end.
@@DizzLexic camera has the yellow av and the red wire. Red wire goes to the wire that the unit has. If yours doesn't have any then you have to connect it elsewhere to give power and change the settings on the screen accordingly from the car protocol section
What if the buttons aren’t lighting up at night like yours ?
there is a wire specifically for that in the back of the unit. on older stereos i believe the color was orange and may be here as well

I do remember a setting to change the config if you want the floating fan button, or the controls always visible at the bottom of the screen. Unfortunately I don't remember what this particular setting is called. Hope it helps...

Suzuki's don't use Canbus I believe, so you shouldn't have issues like that.

Hi! I did this on my radio and it started to reboot, but now the screen won’t turn back on even though i can see there is power going to it from the backlight and my phone can still play music through it, but the screen is just black. Do you know how to fix this by any chance?
Not sure. There is a feature to turn off the screen to limit distractions while driving, but to disable that, and turn the screen back on, you tap anywhere on the screen.

You may have 12V constant power where you actually need 12V switched power. That turns off the power to the head unit when the key is off.

I have a 14 and have scoured the internet for this. I read somewhere that people are going to the brand in the protocol and selecting Explorer instead of mustang. It doesn’t help me though. Did you ever find a fix? I’m afraid we may have ordered or been sent the wrong CANUS decoder.

I would try several other vehicle options in the CANbus. Sometimes they can have small differences that can make it work.

I really want an app that will display CAN-BUS information on my instrument cluster. I have an Erisin unit in my Mercedes Benz and it's perfectly capable of displaying song information etc on the instrument cluster so there must be a way to customise what is displayed. There is an app for BMW cars that does just this and displays things like oil temperature etc on the digital display but not for Mercedes

I do have a raspberry so I guess I could learn to use an Arduino board etc but I just don't understand all the coding etc. I don't know how good the Erisin unit decoder is. That said if the Erisin can play song information on the instrument cluster someone could Invent an app that could take outputs from Torque or directly from an ELM scanner and display them surely? Rather than having to get the information by CAN-BUS it would be easier I think to use OBD data and use the Erisin to pass through data.
