GROWING GRAY UPDATE: I'm 16 months into my gray hair transition journey. Honestly, I'm loving how it's coming in. Here are some observations and tips since another 8 months have passed since my last video.

For me growing my grey is like receiving a Christmas present. You know your getting something great- you just dont know what it is. I love seeing what my real color is.

Your hair looks amazing. I'm a pandemic silver sister; 4 months in and I already told my stylist that I just want a haircut (salons are opening tomorrow in my state). I'm setting mini goals; getting through the summer; making it through the holidays, etc. without coloring. Wish me luck.

V. 1954 Iâm 3 months in to pandemic silver, and the front of my hair is darker. Iâve had one haircut (last week) and told my stylist Iâm keeping my Grombre . He was very supportive!
I think the first 3-5 months are the hardest. Keep going!
V. 1954 I'm with you. Probably am 10 years older than you (1944], so have a lot of white around my face. I will wait a few more months and maybe have my stylist add a few low lights to keep the nice texture I'm seeing right now.

Love that you are doing this at 38...I'm 48 and my sweet Mom kept saying to wait until I was 50. When you're ready, you're ready!!
Amen! It was different for our moms. But we're a new generation with much more flexibility on how we look/dress. :)

My hair isnât even as gray as yours but Iâve been trying to decide if Iâll let my highlights grow out so it will be subtle as youâve said when it does get more gray. This is encouraging to see your video because it looks so healthy and pretty. You look beautiful!đ

Love your hair! Your video is an encouragement to me. I think the colored ends look like some I've seen that do color on the ends intentionally. Only suggestion is it's very distracting how much you touch your hair in your video.

I get so much support from the people in my life, especially my male co workers (who are in their 20's and 30's). Every time I tried to go gray in the past and caved in they would ask me why and tell me to let it go. I am now dye free since Feb 20th and even though it is hard at times because my hair is naturally wavy/frizzy and my side burns(?) remind me of grandpa munster at times lol. All and all I am happy with my choice and I am excited to see how it will look once I am fully grown in. My hair is mostly white on top and in the back salt and pepper the farther down towards my neck. Thank you for sharing and your hair and you are beautiful.

I like the silver gray better on you. Iâm 9 months in too. I have bad days. And goods. But Iâm sticking to it. My new regrowth. Is so soft.

I agree this is the best time to grow our your grey. The transition is softer then if you had a huge amount of gray coming through all at once. I have a lot more gray at the side and bottom part and less gray on top. Iâm growing it out now because it might be harder if I was more gray later.

Iâm 6 months into my transition and boy does it seem to take forever!!! Iâm loving it so far, but have definitely went back and forth on dying it with a temporary hair dye. Also have had some crazy dreams if dyeing it bright colors, lol
I plan on being patient and canât wait for the final result.
It does feel so slow. I totally feel you! But I promise it's worth it. Every tells me they LOVE my hair now...getting past those few months is the hardest part. :)

Iâm heading into my late 40âs and I have less gray than you, and Iâm doing it. I donât understand what âhow much gray you haveâ has to do with anything. Iâm doing it because I hate coloring my hair, and the sooner I get through this, the easier it will be as the rest of my hair transitions to gray or white. Your hair looks great! @@brookerobertsco in about two weeks, I will have my 2 year anniversary for going gray. Iâm not sure why it says I made that comment a year ago. đ€·đ»ââïž Anyway, I love it! I see more gray/white coming in all the time, and it makes me happy. What I love most is just not thinking about it anymore. I donât have to plan when Iâm going to color it, I donât have to use spray on root touch up that makes my scalp itchy. Itâs just been an all around great experience, and Iâm happy I did it. To be honest, I thought the growing out would be miserable, but two years went by really quickly. đđ»đ„ł

Hey, your hair lookd amazing! It didn't matter how much gray you have it's still a heck of a journey. I am salt and pepper too. Mine is whiter around my face. I have long hair and 5 yrs dye free. I still have moments at times where I thinking about dye.

Love this! Can you do another update? Iâm still working on the grow out. My hair wants to turn yellow ( I was a dark blond) on the ends and I want it to be all silver. Iâm much more white/ silver vs grey. I WISH that I had your darker silver/grey. Itâs gorgeous. đđđđ

You were so smart to do this before you got too grey. It's not nearly as traumatizing. I'm at month 6 with the very grey hair with darker brorange dyed hair. It's been so hard. Thanks for the inspiration! You look great!
Totally, mine is similar to hers and it's only mildly annoying whereas if you have more white hair it's more obvious. I wish I never dyed my hair, I don't know why I didn't think it was an option. I like to rock the bun and wide headband look if I don't want people to see it.

My ends are a different colour, due to old hair dye... I keep thinking will I cut off my ends but Iâd like to grow out my hair passed my shoulder, so you have inspired me to love my other tones at the end and soldier on...! Thank you! Such a lovely positive video! đ€
You got this! I did end up shopping my hair about a week after this video. :) (pics are on my IG) It was a super short bob but it got all the dyed ends. Now Iâm just gray and all natural which is fun! You can do it!

Just watched your 8 mos vid, and I gotta say I loved that cut on you. It really highlighted your beautiful cheekbones. If you did that again, you would almost be there. I like you with the lighter color. Just think of all the time, money and strategizing you get to NOT do, ever again. BTW, I dyed my solid platinum white hair brown for 30 years. Aaargh. I thought having white hair with pale skin would make me look like a ghost. Now I am nine months grown out and I look so much better and get many complements. The brown has faded to blonde, the length is almost to my waist and I pull it back in a pony tail with sideswept bangs.

You are so positive. We become slaves to the hair dye as western society judges âgreyâ hair as being old. I too still dye my hair at 55 yrs and Iâm getting more and more tired of doing it. By the way, you look beautiful.

Iâve had natural color now for two years. I donât have much grey. And it looks beautiful as itâs going in. Itâs just some streaks of grey. Itâs pretty.

You are who I needed! I'm 39 and want to let my crazy natural grey shine! It's definitely there. It is very noticeable but not white. It is hard for people to understand why I would want to but I'm so over dying it!
Did u let your gray come in? I'm 39 too and have naturally bright white hair. But unfortunately since I dyed it almost black a while back, I want to let the silver come in but always chicken out after its an inch. đ€Łđ€Ł
@@jasminemariedarling I haven't touched my color since last month. I actually had pulled the color out as much as possible and then bleached it to a brassy blonde. Now I'm letting it come in as it may so it is like a shadow root for now....my plan is to get some tinted conditioner to tone it down a bit as it grows to mask the "line" no damage but still looks more kept. I turned 40 yesterday so it is like a great way to embrace the next decade!

I have naturally wavy hair and use curly girl products to care for it. At 5 months in, it looks Ok. I had some dyed dry ends trimmed off last week and my stylist used a conditioner with silicone đ . While my strands are silky now(until I clarify) I reaIy miss the natural texture. It is such an interesting blend of silver, grey and golden brown streaks.
I canât wait to get rid of my dyed ends! Counting the days!
First of all...congratulations for sticking with the process. Secondly, have you used either the purple or blue shampoo to get rid of the brassy in your older brown dyed hair?
Thank you so much! Sadly, I didn't experiment with anything to help with the transition, but I wish I had. Live and learn. Luckily it's all grown out now. I sometimes use blue shampoo, but I don't think it really makes a difference. But who knows.
Iâve been using a toner on my ends, which lightens my hair and it matches my gray a little better. Eventually, Iâll cut the ends a litttle at a time.
Such a good approach. I wish I would have tried more tactics to lesson the extreme line, but live and learn. It's all grown out now! :)

Thanks! I used to never use product in my hair - too lazy! lol But now I'm using smoothing products before I blow dry to help with flyaways. I've been pretty lucky that the texture isn't very wirery.

I have a friend who let her hair gray naturally-she sometimes puts temporary color in her hair, so her grays are purple or blue, lol

Brooke Roberts it comes out in about 10 - 15 washes. She has two teenaged daughters who color their hair constantly.

Yeah. I don't really know how fast it grows. Just an estimate. But luckily it's all grown out and natural now.
It looks like you deliberately dyed the ends. It looks good. I cant wait to see what my colour will be. I'm only 2 mths in and its yukk. I feel embarrassed
i know that feeling well. :) It will get better. Focus on doing yourself up in other ways - makeup, hairstyle, clothes - it will make you feel better.

Iâm 17 months in and SO over the dry, dyed ends! I cut it too short in Jan, so I just have to wait it all out now. Iâm hoping to be where I want to be (length wise and no more dyed ends) at 2 years.
Amen! Iâm planning to cut my hair in the fall and hoping it will be the last cut I need to get rid of the dyed ends.
Rene I am with you. My bleached orange brown blonde ends are so dry and gross. I actually bought wigs because I couldnât handle the disappointment of seeing myself in the mirror. Then I cut a bunch of hair off and that was equally devastating. Itâs been very hard. I walked down the aisle of hair color today while I was in cvs. Was so tempted. But Iâve got to see this through.
