- Ryobi is breaking the mold again with another brand new tool in the 18-volt One+ platform. This Ryobi PSD101 1/2" x 18" belt sander will reach places that other rotary and even palm sanders cannot. It weighs in at barely over 3-pounds and a simple on/off trigger powers the tool. You do get variable speed control with a slide switch on top of the handle.
The 18V belt sander delivers power to the belt via the brushed motor, as there's really no need for a brushless motor in this tool. You can vary the speed from 880 fpm to 2,065 fpm (feet per minute) using the slide switch. At only $79 from the home depot for the bare tool, you definitely won't break the bank. Ryobi tools have done so well they made my 60 gal air compressor almost useless.
I'm currently refurnishing an old dining set and the chairs have some real tight spaces that are hard to sand by hand or orbital sander. This thing looks perfect, and I found one on offer up for $70! Appreciate the demonstration my friend.
I first saw this tool on a video from Australia. They called it a cordless file. Ryobi didn't offer it in the USA. Home Depot now offers it online and I recent obtained one. I've used it numerous times. Fantastic tool for detailed work. As of right now, no other tool company offers anything like this tool. Highly recommend the tool. While it may not be "professional" as they say, it sure as hell acts professional. I've recently used mine to restore some old and rusty hand held tools (hammers, axes, wrenches, etc.) and it saved me a lot of time grinding and sanding.
@@Sparky-if9sn I saw their sander. However, I paid roughly $100 for the Ryobi and the Makita is selling on Amazon for 450-520 range. Secondly, it took Makita a couple years to introduce this belt sander after Ryobi introduced theirs. What bothers me is why is Ryobi have a larger line of tools than all the others. All the others are very fine tools, but it always takes them forever to introduce “their version” and it always is high priced. I’ve owned most of them, Dewalt, Milwaukee, Makita, etc. but their always late to the party. Take care

It's called a "power filer" in other markets such as Australia. I think it's more appropriate name and it also sends your brain to the right place of how you would use it. Hope that helps.
This is great for sharpening anything. Just got to pick up some fine grit diamond belts.. I missed out of this during ryobi days
I've just finished repainting the exterior of my home. I noticed the 3-tiered layers of wood trim around all my windows are peeling and cracking from multiple layers of paint. This tool is EXACTLY what I was looking for, since the edges of the trim are exactly 1/2" wide and steps into the home wall where I can't reach. Wasps love to make their nests in these "crevices". I will grind everything down to bare wood, prime it, then paint it white and it will look brand new again. The light weight of this tool will come in handy when I'm up on the ladder all this time sanding things down. Thanks for this informative video!

This was a great video, I have wanted a cordless power filer for a while now. But I will stick with the plug in models from HF until they come out with an m12 version with a flexible head.
I totally forgot to mention the flexible head in the video. We have the Ingersoll Rand version that does have the flexible head and it uses the smaller 1/4" belt. The flex head makes it much more usable and convenient, but it's much more expensive. Not sure if we'll see this from Milwaukee anytime soon. Thanks for watching and commenting.

But that is a brand name, I think.
Some people call a circularsaw a "skillsaw", agane brand name.

I picked one of these up at DTO, and a couple of 2AH batteries with a charger for less than $70.
I'm working on grinding down some welds, so I'm hoping this will have enough power to do the trick.
Unfortunately, my air compressor could only maintain a steady 65 psi, so pneumatic wasn't an option.
I have been using the corded WEN unit you can get off Amaxon, which has similar specs to this, and it's slowly getting the work done.
It does feel *SUPER* cheap compared to some of their other tools, but I guess the only competition they have is Makita's $300 sander.

Could have sworn that it's called a finger sander.
Only issue I see with this tool is the contact wheel at the end isn't changeable.... so when that rubber on that wheel is gone that arm is done or the tool if they don't have replacement arms.
Am I the only one that noticed that was a Square Body door, 73-87(91)?
The air tool is just better in the auto body world and mostly for those spot welds. This is good for the home project person, but the best one out there IMHO are the Eastwood belt sanders.
Eastwood does make a decent one, but I'd probably rank Dynabrade up near the top too. Yes, good eye. Squarebody door. We have several C10s in our fleet ('69,'73, '82).

I just picked this up yesterday for $71 new from HD.
I missed out earlier in the year as some people picked this up in Jan. 2023 for around $60 at HD.
And the outlet had them for $40 + shipping in Feb. 2023.
Just just have to keep your eye out for the deals and be patient because $189 tool only "regular" price is too much.
But hopefully your promo pack came with some batteries and a charger.

Seems like a nice guy but boy is he wordy!!! For example he says he wants to grind a spot weld, then he goes on forever explaining what a spot weld is, he does that with everything. This 17 minute video could easily be done in 8 minutes.
It needs to be as thin as the pneumatic file Sanders and should be brushless to be as efficient and effective!
This is GARBAGE like corner sander! & my multi tool jobplus they discontinued all the heads like ratchet and angle drill & all the heads are empty at all home depot stores
I agree, for the work that i like to do, I would like it to be the thinner 1/4" belts. However, most that are buying these will probably be using it on woodworking and household projects, so the larger belts will probably be fine. I don't think it needs to be brushless, because you can do a ton of work on one battery. Also, adding brushless would increase the price of the tool quite a bit. Thanks for watching and commenting.
