Apco Hybrid (EN B) | Paragliding and Paramotoring Review

- Apco's Hybrid paraglider is a unique wing - with a double-surface section at the front and a single-surface section at the rear. What's more, it comes in two versions: one for paragliding, the other for paramotoring.
Cross Country's longtime reviewer Marcus King asks, "Is it really a revolution or is it a gimmick?" He got to play with the hybrid in the thermals of southern France and green grassy flatlands of southern England, while Lawrie Noctor took it soaring and motoring in the UK.

Used in my PPG training and loved it was so easy to kite and launch
Great review -- thx for covering the PPG side
Cheers and safe landings
Thank You for the review. Just watched a review where the pilot rated it not so well and I was concerned b/c he accidently stalled it on launch then claimed it drops you upon landing especially with the motor off. Your video shows a much different perspective.
Have you tried the trimmer on PM version? Will it help big time at high wind?
Glad there's honest reviews like Dell's. You didn't show any collapse/recovery like Dell did. This wing is a total fail.
Dell did some tests on this glider and it was scary as hell!!!!!
YEAH, BUT NOTICE NO ONE IN THIS VIEDO? DID ANYTHING OF PUTTING THIS WING THROUGH ANY MOVES?? JUST A SALES PITCH?? NOTHING OF TESTING LIKE THIS!, YA BITCHES!! czcams.com/video/9I8u462Zwm4/video.html
You fucking idiots. Not scary as hell. It reacts as a B wing should
Which indicates that the wing is probably quite wonderful. Dell is terrified of anything that isn't his.
@@grejen711 No bro, watch the video its pretty sketch!
@@577buttfan f*ck dell...apco has almost the best reputation in the industry. I doubt they would put out anything unsafe no matter what the super douche's sales pitch says. Ask yourself, does he say anything good about anything other than his old clunker wing?
How would the paramotor version be for freeflight?
Hi Gerry, the paramotor version is fine for free-flight. It is slightly heavier but in the air the trim is the same. While testing it we thermalled happily on the paramotor version, the shot where I am above a mountain was actually on the PM version. Hope that helps
FAILED!! czcams.com/video/9I8u462Zwm4/video.html
@@xcmag THAT A LINE OF CRAP!! PROOF YOUR WING FAILED FOR RECOVERY FOR PARAMOTORS?? LYING PRICKS!! czcams.com/video/9I8u462Zwm4/video.html
You're an idiot dell. You put down every wing that you dont sell.

Are there any benefits of the hybrid/single skin beyond weight?
Speaking for true singles: I've never had a collapse on one, they may feel twitchy, but are rock solid in my experience...
@@mcbrite that's interesting. How is flare on landing? I've heard that there is some 'lack of authority' in that part of the flight (which seems natural given the characteristic of the wing)?
@@gcm4312 Yeah, they are worse than normal ones, but I never had a problem... On my current Sir Edmund Race it's much improved. But again, I wouldn't hesitate landing with any of them... If you are very old AND a bad lander MAYBE worth considering, otherwise I think it's one of those classical cases of people shooting their mouth off, most of which only ever HEARD about single skins flaring badly...
Get the timing right and you're golden.
@@gcm4312 I found the flare on the Hybrid better than the single skin wings. Although the second generation single skin wings have seen a big improvement in this area.
@@xcmag Cross Country Magazine thanks for the reply! Do you guys think hybrids or single skin are competitive in the XC arena? From what you described (light brakes and stable in entering thermals) they seem amazing... I'm progressing from A class and considering several Mid B gliders. I would love to have a lighter glider and this peaked my interest
Is this suitable for tandem trike's?
Have you gotten any answers on this question? I would also like to know.
@@kenjj911 No sir not yet still waiting for the same.
@@kenjj911 are you a trike pilot?
@@architmore2812 In training now. Have a trike and this wing. My instructor is highly regarded and tells me that it is fine with a trike.
@@kenjj911 thank you sir, i am planning to step into paratrike, so gathering as much as information i could get.
Top :)
