iluvbbqtacos He probably figured it out when Michael mentioned setting Edgar free, he sounded way too suspicious and these guys know each other extremely well. He probably knew what Michael had done. He didn't actually go into his house when he respawned, so I don't think he actually saw that Edgar was gone.
LetsPlay Bookie It actually shows in the next part him walking in the house and finding something wrong. So, I don't know exactly when it happened, but he walked in his house and saw that one of them had set Edgar free.
In the second part, Ryan says he went back to expand Edgar's living conditions. So, after Michael started talking about Edgar, Ryan probably realized that he wanted to make Edgar's room more royal. :)

+Andrea Youngken The thing is the cow hitbox is actually wide enough that it can't fit through the door (only through a completely unobstructed 1-wide space), which is why Michael had to break the door to get Edgar out, and why Edgar never left the house without help.

THE EDGER SAGA
Edgar the Cow, or "Edgar Prime" due to Ryan's naming obsession, lives in Downtown Achievement City. During the Let's Build for "Slice of Hell", he appeared inside of Ryan’s Kung-Fu house and after Gavin locked him in, he never left the house. Edgar has been seen multiple times whenever the team enters Kung-Fu house for supplies. At some point before the I Spy episode, Ryan secretly made some modifications to Kung-Fu house and installed an underground pen with a glass roof, as temporary living arrangements for him. Ryan believes that Edgar is happy with the living conditions. He currently lives in the second smallest house, the smallest being Caleb's, and has a third roommate, Edgar 3 the Emergency Chicken.
During Episode 60, Michael secretly freed Edgar as a part of the #FreeEdgar2013 movement, even though Edgar refused to leave by constantly returning to Kung-Fu House. After being forced away by Michael, and without Ryan's protection, Edgar was seemingly killed moments later by Geoff.

During the ending of Episode 61, Edgar was seen back in his hole and Ryan's house was returned to its original state (except the Kung Fu art work), leaving Michael confused. It was revealed that Ryan secretly repaired the damage to his house during the challenges Ryan had set for the lads and led another cow into his house by growing wheat and using it to lead the cow into the hole. After much confusion, Ryan explained and said "Look, you don't understand, Edgar is the one in the hole." Ryan's sentiment implied that Edgar was never a specific cow, but any cow in the hole. It is rumored that Edgar is actually a spirit of a cow that resides inside the hole, and takes control of any cow that enters it. Therefore, when a cow leaves the hole, it is no longer Edgar, at which point a new one will eventually take its place and become Edgar in the process.

During Episode 65, Gavin killed Edgar in order to complete a task, spawning a Mooshroom as a replacement. Michael discovered it and put a sign next to Edgar's hole reading "FU #FreeEdgar2013". Ryan discovered this in Episode 66, but unlike the previous time, he did not fix the situation and instead left the mooshroom in the hole. Ryan also mentioned that the mooshroom is now Edgar, referring to his popular line "Edgar is the one in the hole".
Here for some highlights during the fall of the company. As sad as it is, after all thats happened, im happy its being put out of its misery.

Wow ryan spawned at his house a minute after Edgar was set free and he didn't notice him missing or that there's a hole at the back wall of his house. He actually left through that very hole. That's like a new level of obliviousness!!

Edgar is the one in the hole. Why don't people understand that, regardless of how many cows he goes through, the one in the hole is Edgar. Ryan doesn't give a flying shit about the original Edgar. You could shove Ray, Michael, Gavin, Geoff or Jack in there and they would become Edgar, all past present and future versions of themselves cease to exist and they live on as Edgar. Until they are out of the hole, that is if they ever manage to get out of that existence without Ryan being aware.

I grew up watching these people they became a vital part of my own life & to how I dealt with my own problems, to see some videos but I can’t fully remember so I go back to reminisce & to find out they’ve been removed is truly heartbreaking...

I know the chicken in Ryan's house is only a diversion, but I've always been surprised nevertheless that Michael didn't release it along with the cow. Busting the glass and putting his message in the chicken's place (whether it escaped or not) would've seemed like a slightly more complete and poetic course of action, I think. Regardless---of details as well as the ultimate futility of his deed---the man's a hero.

So, I listen to these at work with earbuds since we work in a lab and it is allowed. Well, I didn't charge my earbuds and they died when Micheal was helping edgar be free. Since they died, the audio switched to my laptop speakers and everyone in the cube heard it. I tried to get back to my labtop in time but I wasn't able to. They heard Micheal's audio with his sassing the cow and my co-workers asked what I like to do with cows on my free time. I kinda laughed and told them not to speak ill of edgar. I don't work in that set of cubes anymore.

You don't understand Edgar is the one in the hole it can be anyone or anything if that someone or thing escapes they go back to their pre-Edgar identity
