    I enjoy hearing about the home automations aggravating your wife, really adds so normalcy to your videos. I have similar issues with my automations and the wife. Interesting product. I don't have a sprinkler setup, so I won't be getting one of these any time soon. Look forward to seeing what you do next. Take care.

      Thanks for watching Benjamin! If you don’t have an in-ground irrigation system, the Eve Aqua might be a good alternative. And yes, the smart home activating the wife is a very real thing lol.

    Weird to be so concerned about the wires showing (valid) but having an unfinished garage. So many ppl don’t bother to paint garage interiors. I understand not spending for high end paint or a custom color, but getting a simple gallon of marked down “oops” paint (color mixes that ppl don’t buy so stores sell them super cheap) is such an easy way to make things look better. Seeing bare drywall & the mud is weird. We got a simple very light grey color on huge discount. Painted it out and it all looks so much nicer.

    Hey Shane, thanks for all you do! Just wanted to give you a quick update on your Yardian. I purchased one based upon your recommendation, and initially I loved it. You commented in the video about a zone misfunction however, I don’t think that that was coincidental. I have had multiple zones burnouts, since I switched over to the Yardian. Nonetheless, wanted to give you feedback as I’m going to move away from the Yardian to Hydrawyze. Fingers crossed. Thanks again for everything!

    • @ShaneCreates
      @ShaneCreates  Před 2 lety

      Hey Toby, thanks for the feedback. The Yardian has been working great for me ever since we got the valve and wiring issues fixed, which shouldn't have anything to do with the sprinkler controller. I am still using the Yardian with no issues at the moment. Hope you have better luck with your next one.

    For a device that will be placed in a “dirty” area. Like a garage, shed or the alike. I would tape over the exposed ports, especially the Ethernet and USB.
    I’ve worked at a casino that used RJ45 (Ethernet) ports for communication of the slot machines. Every couple of weeks I was replacing a block of 5 RJ45 ports. Mostly because of drink spills. Concept is the same though, dust, dirt and what not can corrode the wires inside the RJ45 port.

    Hey Shane - I can't find the video you had for this problem. When Motion is detected => Run Shortcut (I have a shortcut which turns on the Apple TV and shows the Camera) - I used the App you recommended. Can you help?

    • @ShaneCreates
      @ShaneCreates  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Neil. It sounds like you are running a standard shortcut to open an app on the Apple TV. Unfortunately, we cannot trigger shortcuts from homekit automations. We can "convert to shortcut" but that is different because that requires these automations run on your homekit hub, as opposed to your personal device. The shortcut you mentioned is actually using the Apple TV Remote App, on your personal device, to run the shortcut.
      It all gets a little confusing understanding the differences. I tried to explain it some here in this video. Hope that helps! czcams.com/video/GHnnNjoTBCo/video.html

    Hello, I recently installed the Yardian Pro for my 4 zones. Question, when you setup a manual watering schedule do all of your zones come on at the same time? Currently, my zone 1 comes on for 50 minutes then turns off, then zone 2 comes on does it’s thing and turns off, followed by zone 3, lastly zone 4.

    Cool sprinkler control! I wonder what automation is possible to make a smart sprinkler system and an automower aware of each other’s operation? For instance, I see a Hoobs plugin for the Husqvarna automower. So it seems rules could prevent one starting if the other was operating. Perhaps vendors will need a solution to coordinate scheduling between devices?

    • @ShaneCreates
      @ShaneCreates  Před 3 lety

      I don't have any experience with an automower, but if you can get them both in homekit then you should certainly be able to configure those automations. Just create a conditional automaton in one of the 3rd party homekit apps (Eve, Home+, etc.). For example, run the sprinkler every day at 6am IF the automower is NOT running.

      Yea for this you'd probably have to create conditional HomeKit automations rather than using the scheduling feature in the Yardian app. It should be possible... something like: every Tuesday and Thursday at 5am, ONLY IF the windows are closed, run Sprinkler Zone 1. That way if the window is open, it won't run.
