They could do this trick with cameras yes, although it would probably be a hell of a feat to actually do it, coordinating dozens or even hundreds of cameras to create something akin to sci Fi holograms.

No. They stay in the same place while the sphere spins. Therefore the problem is with the news camera sensor.
