    Always take out, or at least loosen your fill blug before drain plug. It allows the fluid to properly drain and ensures you're not left with no way to fill your trany back up when you strip or break a bolt.

    Awesome video! I hit the LIKE 👍 button. So with a dual clutch transmission (I have the same 2012 Veloster you show in the video) there is only one fill and one drain plug? I was thinking that each clutch assembly had its own fill and drain plug.

    I just did the fluid change this morning. It all went ok, apart from the fact, that my Veloster 2012 is a EU spec, DCT yet the filler cap is at a side of the transmission, not as in your video. It was extremely hard to unscrew it (suspension rod is like 5cm next to it!) and immediately after releasing the bolt the oil started to flow. My question was, how do I fill it back with the same amount as it will overflow?! I didn't even start with the drain bolt.
    I couldn't flip my car sideways, so I held a paper towel to the drain hole and last 200ml of second bottle and waited for the oil to fill up and hoped for it not to leak. I quickly had to screw back the fill plug. Yet I find this quite surprising, how to fill in 2l of oil, when by reaching 1.8l you overflow the level of the valve it's at the side.
    I did it at 50k miles btw.

    • @nestorautorepair
      @nestorautorepair  Před 3 lety

      Wow sound like a big job there got it be another way ,, but thanks for sharing your tips

    • @lA-bk3wh
      @lA-bk3wh Před 2 lety +3

      Just an update for anyone performing the fluid replacement. You should stop filling the gearbox, once the fluid starts to overflow. It is designed that way, so that the hole placement matches exactly the amount of fluid it should have. Even the manual shows exactly this, the bolt placement level is the exact amount of fluid it should be up to. It's designed to hold around 1.8-1.9l, you won't fit 2l. And overfilling may cause overheating.
      The reason why you may have too much of fluid when unscrewing the bolt, is because it was filled in factory, probably from the top, not side and taking some tolerance of use into consideration.

      118k is not high . still lots of life in you auto. if it’s working fine with no problems , drain the fluid and replace with new auto trans fluid recommended for your auto type . there are different grades . get the correct one. check dip stick if it has one to correct levels . if there is no dip stick on the auto trans , measure the amount of fluid you removed and replace the same amount with new fluid . i always add a little more just to account for spillage etc. best to change your auto fluid every 30,000 miles to keep the fluid in good clean working order .
