Anyone sleeping on this isn't watching him perform
Hahahaha. He did compose the iPhone alarm sounds so…
For those of you like me who have listened to this a million times already:
1:52 Improv 1 and 2
26:37 Improv 3 and 4
45:06 Sick beatbox improv
You're the man!
god bless you, good sir
Taylor's music always calms me down... It's so beautiful that it immediately draws me in and takes me to my happy place
For those not familiar with Taylor, don’t be fooled by his famous father. This dude is the REAL DEAL. Definitely not grandfathered in. If you haven’t heard it, you gotta give his album “Early Riser” a listen ASAP. One of my favorites ever.
Agreed! Taylor is a very talented artist who clearly has some hip-hop and jazz influences in his music.
Well, he came from a musical family, so he probably had great music playing in the house from the time he was born. Great teachers on piano, production, voice, whatever would have been his for the asking. But he still had to put in the work, he still had to have the vision, and he still had to have the talent. None of those can be faked. And if he hadn't had them, his dad would probably have steered him toward something else, with the music kept as a hobby.
"don’t be fooled by his famous father. This dude is the REAL DEAL", what a bullshit. APPLES AND ORANGES. They just can't be compared, different genre, different approach and both are amazing. Bobby is of the most important voices of american music, ten-time grammy awarded and honorary doctored at Berklee. Taylor is just an amazing newcomer if compared with the grandiosity and importance of his father.
I'm not comparing them, so there's no need to say what I said is bullshit. Let me clarify:
When I wrote that comment, I imagined that there are people who are going to watch this video who have never heard of Taylor McFerrin when they saw him pop up in their CZcams feed. It is mildly possible that they'd think to themselves, "Hmm.... is this guy actually a good musician and worth 45 minutes of my time? Or does he just have so many music industry connections because of his father that he was able to make a career without any incredible talent?" I decided to write my comment as a way to let people know that he truly is an exceptional musician, and didn't cheat his way in to this career.
He is an amazing musician. So is his father. We are in agreement. I am not comparing them. No need to get mean.
Ok, sorry for the bullshit, now I got what you wanted to say. I took you wrong with the phrase "REAL DEAL", supposing you were saying that his father is something meanless if compared with him (Taylor).
this is gonna be directly the soundtrack of these hot summer night with no air...in italy
I didn't read the description fully and went to go save these to my Spotify library thinking they were titled "Improvisations" but no, literal improvisations. Incredible!!
Masterpiee that will prevail forever...No words can describe this genius.
What a trip. He's a Mcferrin with his own voice. So awesome!
i feel very lucky to have discovered this
Dear KEXP, really love your new live room. Perhaps after the announcer does his thing you could kill the lights on him
Don't miss his beatboxing at the end. It's so good!
Very underrated. His album was masterfully crafted. Ive been waiting to hear more since 2016!
The whole family is just so amazingly talented I saw the last name McFerrin and I just thought it better listen to it and I love that sound I really do it has a little has a feel of that zer0 7 sound
This might be my new favorite video in the universe. Taylor you’re fucking awesome.
As a fusion -jazz vocalist, I am EXTREMELY proud of Taylor McFerrin for keeping this aspect of the genre relevant!!! I've been forced to sing in so many different bands, attempting to find sounds and experiences similar to this kind of vibe. I REALLY hope audiences for this type of music will expand beyond just musicians and audiophiles :-)
Do you have any good recommendations for similar artists? I love his stuff especially Early Riser
this right here is therapy for the mind sun! word!

Drooling with excitement! This dude just excels in the moment - the best place to be! I'm a VJ, but I find him a serious inspiration - he takes forever to lock shit down, but is on fire when he's playing live. Me too Taylor! Me too!!
Oh my! Haven't listened to this in awhile! Grooving in my office right now. :) :)

Oh Holy shit i love taylor! Wow this channel rules. I have the record of Early Riser and its amazing
Taylor is a pure cat
So inspired and delightful to me
Totally changed the way I perform live. Incredible control in these improvs.
Sounds that turn a hard rock into butter... I'm melting 🥴
Waaaauuuwww
straight illmatic sun......nobody touchin' this kid! class of his own!
Absolutely amazing. Impressed by how real that guitar sound is on the Prophet 6. Dave Smith Instruments is the real deal.
Wasn't it just a plugin controlled through midi on the prophet? Thats the feeling I got from it
@@danielhooglandt1620 Need to know this!! Need that guitar!!
At about the 30:00 mark, it sounds like some chorus on a bass guitar sample. And reminds me a lot of a song I will remember and reply with the link later...
Wow...
素晴らしい!
Give Thanks for sharin 🔥🔥
nice groove
🙌
such a fucking nice trip i got from this actual musician
😍
*Sees Prophet-6 Synthesizer* ahhh, good to see that Taylor is a man of refined taste.
great performance. he could do a collab with ty braxton. besides being sons of legends, both are trailing very interesting paths musically
Tasty riffs.
Dude should link up with Afta-1
Genius,Bismallah.......
this studio was made for him
Taylor, Adrian Younge, Robert Glasper are bringing real music back into the popular scene
damn, i'd love to just chill and wail on some synths with t.
Its hard to have a famous parent. Hes really good. This is the music they listened to before the hail bop comet came.
he's pure inspiration. for me, much like klaus schulze/manuel gottsching ushered into a new era of rhythmic and harmonic ideas
That ending that begins at 41:00..... Just so epic
Hey, anybody -- is the opening tune in a Neapolitan Major mode? PLZ HELP.
screaming again at 30:00 😩😩😩
oh yes, press those buttons so good. ;-D
where he get those sounds at the start :O a kontakt library?
theres too many cables , i think he is going analogue, Komplete would have the samples though, he is playing a Rhodes organ (bottom) and a Roland prophet 6 synthesizer (top)
I clicked the video for his last name, and I kept watching for his first name.
kexp
Wait, is he looping a tempo change automation at 12:30??? Any #ableton folks here know how one would do that?
he may just switched a scene inside his live project...
Map the tempo of the track to a midi fader.
1:49
idk why the pull focus as 30:07 was soooo funny
45:06
The Ultimate Morty!
How about putting Tayler with Marc Rebillet and Reggie Watts just for a jam session
Anyone in KEXP-land with a set up like this that wants to hook up with a songwriter for a project, shout at me! Thanks!
He could pass as Laurence Fishburne's son.. But I guess one famous father is enough.. :)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
anyone that can figure out the chord progression in the beginning?
He's somewhat of an interesting musician. The way he interacts with the instruments which he has equipped himself with, such as the keyboard, mic, his mouth and the computer added effects. Those add a pleasantly vibed sounds & music.
How do you not laugh out loud when looking at the host?
Moon SKeetz if I was hosting I'd "leave the room". Like, tell em I'm going so I can't accidentally bring them out of their bubble, but just sit out of sight. Still wanna hear the sound in the room
Jump to 45:02 for the spiked egg nog
Fun fact: He touches his nose over 200 times during this performance
Saw him touch his chin, like he's considering what his next improve may be ...
Neyman can really sing!
47:16 listen once on your left earphone and once on your right, thank me later.
Umm nah
TasteLess LoOps withOut The Music..!
Bit too loopy to my taste, but I like it a lot.
Dude keeps wallet in front left pocket even at gigs.
not sure why we have to have dude in the background awkwardly nodding with his eyes closed
What's awkward about nodding eyes closed to good music ? It's the best way to enjoy music isn't it ?
I love seeing people enjoy music, no matter what they look like when they do. It's beautiful to see someone in the moment
