I’m a 73 and the Clydesdale was the first horse I “rode” as a five year old. I was placed on the back of a two horse team pulling a loaded hay wagon up a hill to the storage barn. I was blessed with long legs and able to enjoy enjoy that ride. I had been in love with horses since birth, the smell, feel, and working with them.
I had no idea Clydesdales were used for mounted police patrol. Makes complete sense, but I've never seen it before. Such magnificent animals, and nice to see the respect the officers have for them.
Larger horses are good for crowd control and they are very strong, the downside is they are hard to mount and dismount which is something they do often while on patrol.
Pls do a remix and put your music volume control on number 1. Your audience would like to hear the ceremony, and personally, I would love to hear the hooves of those 2000 lb. beautiful animals clacking on that floor. Thank you and have a great day!
The horses they have are so nice and well behaved too. Seeing them bring back memories of the horse my grandfather had when I was a teen and the clydesdales I also got to see in St. Louis. Those horses was wonderful and so was the ones the state of Arkansas have at the prisons for the field officers to ride on.
Wonderful! The Clydesdale’s are so beautiful and graceful - and they will stop “traffic”if need be, gently if possible LOL! It never occurred to me before, I guess because I’ve never seen it, that Clydesdales could be ridden. It makes sense when you see it, I’ve just never have seen it until now. Those officers have true buddies at their backs - 2 legged and 4 legged. What a great way to serve your community! I agree with the gentleman’s comment about them taking part in parades. While it would be a great treat to see them, to pull them away from their work would not be wise. I’m glad they stuck it out through the rough times. Look at them now! I wish all cities/towns had a mounted patrol. Horses have a way of calming people and situations down just by being around. Blessings on all the officers. Keep up the good work! Stay safe out there.
Clydes are are one of the God has many given gifts have given us. I have been exposed to several. Big puppies every one. They just don’t know they are severalHow can you not watch this and we are not the gentle giants we have been blessed with? GREAT VID
Wilbur Finnigan yeah, and they have earned respect BECAUSE they are the police. They go through things that normal people don't, you clearly don't know that.
I think it was absolutely beautiful. Beautiful people and beautiful horses with a beautiful surprise for a beautiful cause with a beautiful reaction. BEAUTIFUL
This is amazing! I am assuming this is where the mismarked Clydesdales go that don’t make it to the Clydesdale Anheuser-Busch teams. Well you know what? Doesn’t matter how you’re marked. It matters what you do. And these guys are most revered above all.
Seems like one of the best jobs in police work. Until u have to deal with the public. That probably gets old of drunks and druggies trying to Bother your horse and u can’t do much about it with out fear of losing your job or getting sued.
I'm wondering if these horses are from Budweiser because they are the largest 4 Clydesdale breeding in Missouri. Not all the horses at Budweiser are used so they sell the horses that didn't make the team communities and police department and other breeders.
tit40s&w Many Clydesdales in the country today are Budweiser rejects, wrong color, too much white, not heavy enough, etc Budweiser each year produces hundreds of folas and not near all are used !!!
Looking at the wide stance of the officers lined up, they invoke strength but also the stance of anyone who has spent hours in the saddle of a broad back horse like these clydes.😂. For those wondering why some of the horses have docked tails, it indicates that they had worked pulling a wagon or equipment where it is dangerous for the horse to have a long tail that could get entangled in the hitching lines. Note that the Budweiser Clydes all have docked tails as do Amish work draft horses.
Here in Australia our police force use any breed so long as they’re at least 16.2hh with a trainable mindset because that’s all they can get their hands on. England use Cleveland Bays because the Queen’s rescue program of the breed but I am interested in the reason the USA police have chosen Clydesdales? Don’t get me wrong, I love them, I’m curious that’s all.
Sorry no - the majority of police horses in England are half or three quarters thoroughbred with the other part being draft horse. They may have the odd Cleveland Bay but the entire mounted section is not made up of them alone. The Scottish police mounted section use a majority of Clydesdales and the rest a mix like England. Clydesdales have a wonderful temperament and are not easily 'spooked' they are obviously big animals too which comes in handy during crowd control :)

These horses are so beloved and I love the way the horses are treated like one of the officers
That’s because they ARE officers. Try assaulting one and you’ll find out soon enough what happens. I would suggest NOT trying it tho.
I'm speechless. What an awesome job that these officers and horses do. Beautiful example to other towns. Great job!!!
Awesome! Hopefully people will continue to look past just hauling beer when it comes to the majestic, kind, and strong nature of a Clydesdale.
It’s awesome to see that this police force is uses Clydesdale Horses for their work 👏👏👏
Fantastic ceremony! Good Luck to all of you & the horses are beautiful.
I had no idea Clydesdales were used for mounted police patrol. Makes complete sense, but I've never seen it before. Such magnificent animals, and nice to see the respect the officers have for them.
yawhause Draft breeds are use because they are larger and MORE intimidating !!! General police tactics !!!
Larger horses are good for crowd control and they are very strong, the downside is they are hard to mount and dismount which is something they do often while on patrol.
They are beautiful 💞. Bring them back for super bowl commercials or better yet, let them be on the field. That would be awesome
I get so many tears & cry at the magnificent show of beauty and force.
I love our amer police.
I love Clydesdales and all horses they are soo amazing and powerful ❤️⭐️
Thank you God bless you all 😇🙏

I saw a photo of 4 or 5 girls riding drafties. The caption said, "Make your butt look small, ride a Draft". Giggle.
Beautiful horses of course
Wow, what a beautiful ceremony!

Those horses say "Budeweiser Clydesdales hold my oats. I've got a badge."

They are so graceful and we should respect the police and everybody out needs to respect that.
thank you...NYPD ret.
Horse lover Cops need to EARN respect by fair treatment of the Public !!! RESPECT is EARNED, NOT given !!!
Wilbur Finnigan yeah, and they have earned respect BECAUSE they are the police.
They go through things that normal people don't, you clearly don't know that.
Wilbur Finnigan they literally risk their lives every day to make the streets a safer place, doubt you have ever done that
BEAUTIFUL!!!..👍💪💓
I think it was absolutely beautiful. Beautiful people and beautiful horses with a beautiful surprise for a beautiful cause with a beautiful reaction. BEAUTIFUL
With two exceptions: the Budweiser Clydesdales are too thick and "lost" their tails.
Bless their hearts!!!

Jennifer Hughes your right can hardly hear
I agree .
@@bobshaw4063 Me, too. 5/2/22 now.
The music is too loud. I'm glad to see the horses have their manes.
Saluting the men and women & Equines of Law enforcement ❤️🙏 🐎🍎🥕
In TN they use Tn walkers..in Texas they use quarter horses. But in DE they use Clydesdales..have mercy..
Awesome!!!

Love the video but the music is too loud! Not sure it is even necessary.
The horses knew they did good. I saw those heads bobbing up and down.
