Horse "Cops" should be illegal. It's 2021, no need to be working animals to "enforce". Total nonsense. I love horses by the way, I just don't know why we need them to help "police"

+Shani Wilkins While I don't think "cute" is the right word to use ("necessary" is better), it's not a matter of "shouldn't be in a position"; the reality is that they are, so it's something that has to be accounted for. Being resentful about it isn't going to do squat to protect them.

Just study the horse first, before you can speak for them. "they want nothing more than to run on a Green pasture" stop with these fairy tales, black beauty type of thinking. Horse graze, the only reason they run in a pasture is because of fear.

It's definitely a bit of a climb without a mounting block. I've seen a couple of amazing horse owners train their horses to kneel for their rider to mount, but most of us mortals just find a rock or a fencepost or something to get that little boost up. 😅

Shani Wilkins The horses have been trained and yes they could get ran over but if you saw that massive thing in the middle of the road in front of you , you’d stop. They are very intimidating and could get information out of people , and make people’s day by meeting these amazing creatures. Before cars horses were on the street all the time with the carriages running over there hoofs and all sorts , here they are well cared for , big and strong and do a good thing. Horses are one of the most loyal creatures, and can be trained very well. I’d like to think that they had trained the horse to get out of the road if they thought they were in a dangerous position.

109367 I highly doubt that also. But many departments actually tack up western for no apparent reason. Also, many riders tack up western for no reason related to cattle etc. I think it is just because western had become a WESTERN and American tradition, and western tack is much cheaper.

Western also offers a more 'fitted' seat which also helps with balance and staying on.
Honestly western saddles aren't just for cattle herding. Infact their whole design is meant for long term comfort and a deep seat to allow riders to work long hours and stay on if a horse spooks or needs to make jerky/sudden motions.
There is a reason most peope use western when going for trail rides.

Spurs ore not used a a form of punishment. They are used as a reinforcement of a request. It should always go body position, leg/voice, then squeeze with the spur. Never star fishing, or wildly spurring out of nowhere.
These big draft horses that they are using for police work tend to
A: know their size and take full advantage
B: Be dull/Lazy, low energy couch potatoes who would rather go back to bed than work!
Occasionally they need a reminder from their handlers that they do in fact need to move! I personally only use spurs when absolutely needed. One of my horses moves solely on body language and voice! Move from passive/neutral to tipped forward/Go position and you damn well better be ready for her to move! Cluck or accidentally squeeze your legs while giving the go signal and she will launch out from underneath you!
On the other side I have a mare who no matter how nicely you ask will not go faster than a snails pace without the rider wearing spurs. You do not need to use said spurs but just her knowing you have them is enough of a psychological threat that she goes from no way in hell to yes mam in a flash. Much like how pulling a police K9 out will get a suspect to rapidly change their mind about running!

I have seen a lot of the comments, and it’s. Baffles me on how much stupidity there is! These animals weigh around 1,000 pounds depending on the breed. If they where upset, uncomfortable, or not happy they could show it. Look at how calm they where while getting equipment put on them. Bits don’t hurt the horses either, it gives the officers better control, without that control, the horse could possibly run into traffic, or cause itself harm. The officers have respect for the animals! They give each of the horses there own trailer, which where nice ones, full of food and water. They have nice stables, and equipment. These horses where trained too, they could be out on a farm with no food, getting forced to pull things around. These horses are also specific breeds. Breeds that can handle working. They are not over worked at all, they have multiple horses, so they can take shifts. They are not whatsoever overworked. They have specialized cut hoods too. Not to mention they extremely great veterans they have to care for them them. They don’t have any ribs showing, proving they are not underfed. And with just a glimpse of the stables and fields, they seem to have a nice home. Nothing you see here is animal abuse, it is amazing people, who give these horses a purpose! Stop the hate, and spread of false fact. These animals are extreamly luck you to have the care they get.

Ex: Learning to ride using just your legs and no reins. Then using the reins to squeeze, meaning the bit is a contact point so when you squeeze, they know what you are asking. Though, you must use them properly. If not used in the proper way, I despise the people for not bothering to learn better.

Its the same thing, just you can't eat a bit and it doesn't taste as good. Bits only hurt if you yank, the police officers obviously weren't pulling, so it wouldn't have hurt. I hate it hen people say that bits at bad when their not.

    • @dancetothebaileybeat2809
      @dancetothebaileybeat2809 Před 6 lety +2

Bit less bridles still have the same pressure, i think loads of people have a misunderstanding of bits. Both bits and bit less bridles hurt just as much. One thing i hear people say lots is "try putting a bit in your mouth and tell me it doesn't hurt". If you know anything about bridles, you'll know that the most common bit less bridle basically has the reins hooked on to the nose band, and it still has meal circles on it so when you pull on one side, the other side will have the metal circle digging in. Since there's no strap or bit to keep the bridal from slipping back, it must be part of the cheek bone that stops it. So it'll be pushing on the one of the bones or tendons or whatever that stops it from slipping back, which would hurt. And if you say that you don't pull enough on the bit less bridle to make it hurt, you don't pull enough on a bit to make it hurt ether.

Right? And it looked like he was practically pulling the horse to try to get it to walk faster, first of all if youre directly in front of it it probably wont go faster, and also thats just not how you do it

Shame on them for trailering horses with windows down Extremely dangerous for horse yo have head out the window...I don't care how seasoned they are still animals and something could get into the eyes

Windows down for airflow. It gets extremely hot in the trailer, especially on a hot day.

That's what trailer screens are for to allow air flow but keep debris out of the horse's eyes so windows down IF you use screens. Some people also use fly masks if their horses insist on hanging their head out and their trailers don't have screens.

r w well thats up to the way a horse is trained and you dont have to train them with a bit so you clearly donz have to use one. Which would be better bc a bit hurts the horse
