    Hey guys,
Today for HorseWorldTV, I want to bring you to a whole different kind of stable. The stables of the Mounted Police. These horses get trained very differently and have to go into really special situations, full of confidence. They also make sure the horses have a good life and get everything they need which I was so happy to see.
Do you want to see how they train them, or many other dressage, showjumping, tricktraining (and many more) videos? Make sure to subscribe, we have over 150 videos ready for you!

Jesse, really enjoyed learning about the police horses of the Netherlands. Being a Canadian we have a strong tie to horses being used in our Nation police force the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. They have been breeding their own horses since 1939 which were mainly Thoroughbreds until 1989 when they introduced Hanoverians into the program. The RCMP Musical Ride started in 1873 and has performed all over the world. They have gifted 8 horses to the Royal Family in England the last being to King Charles in 2023.

I worked at the stables at the Exhibition Place in Toronto for a while and got to see how the police trained their wonderful horses. They're beautiful animals and HUGE. I worked on the other side of the facility where regular lessons were given, but even being able to see them up close was a treat.

Actually, the RCMP horses were draft cross. Primarily Clydesdales with thoroughbreds. Thoroughbreds are too light and their legs could not take the pounding police horses experiences. Then they were chosen for the dark bay/black colour. My father was trained to ride as part of his RCMP training. The program at that time was based on British cavalry traditions.

Jesse's energy is so soft you just want to cuddle him. Its just so rare to find a soul with such a natural connection to all animals, I would say also there is an active brain behind all that soft energy.
Many years ago when I was around Jesse's age we had the mounted police from B'ham bring their horses to the yard for lunch time, when one of the policemen approached our naughty horse, she had a cage like top door because she was a biter. The policeman said she wont bite me, as he stuck his nose through the bars, well she did.

Very good video. As a retired farrier I really appreciate the attention paid to the shoeing of these working horses. I also noticed that the farrier hobbles around and that’s the sign of a very experienced farrier as is to be expected in one who cares for horses doing an important job. Real life working horses are a rarity these days.

It's very nice to see that the horses of the Mounted Police can, like any 'worker', have moments of rest and play. When they're not on duty, they're outside (if the weather is not too bad). Their good health and comfort are important, so they are monitored and competent people are called if necessary (dentist, farrier, etc.). It's interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes, especially when animals are involved. Congratulations to the Police for the way they treat their equine partners.
Many thanks to Sergeant Tijms, to Jesse and to the crew for this informative video.

My grandpa was a riding police for 40 years so this was nice to see and remember him.
In old times (1920 and forward) my grandpa told my mother and she told me when I started to ride, that they trained the police horses to rear and walk into riots with the front hoves kicking. It sounded very hard work for the horses and also some kind of danger for the horsebelly. But there were noone near when the hoves touched the ground again as the crowd disapeared! I can imagine the scene and it was dramatic.
It would be nice to see training, if it is secure to show openly.
Lot of love and protection for the police teams, horse and police and the hay...😅

Some cities are phasing out mounted police ~ but then regret it. There are situations where crimes cannot be better observed, prevented or controlled than by the presence,
    flexibility, partnership
and speed of a well trained horse and his police rider. They’re incomparable. Especially in big cities.
I always wished they had special hard rubber shoes though, to ease their feet and joints …

I was a little surprised when you introduced yourself to the ferrier and dentist as Jesse, emphasis on the J rather than the way Matt always says Yessa. In English we'd always say Jess-ee. I'm wondering how they train horses that it's ok to invade human space in that situation yet repsect it in others. That has to be tricky or is it that everyone BUT their core carers are fair game? Pretty sure I missed the time to get an answer, just quite curious. I always feel for the horses that have to go into situations.

What kind of armor do they wear? Are they allowed to bite? There is so much about training your horse from a young age to not bite or push people ...how do they know the difference? Are they trained to bite or kick on command? This officer shares a lot of information with us.

8:40 Kladrubak is from Czech Republic. If she say Kladrubak, maybe she said something else, but I do hear this 😅

Yes, I was confused too, we don’t have horses in Hungary by that name

@@fburton8yeah in our language it's "Starokladrubsky kun" something like a "Oldkladruber horse". In short version just Kladrubak 😁

@@Lucie-in7ek Thanks, that makes sense. In England/ish some of our horse breed names end with -er, e.g. Holsteiner, Haflinger, Knabstrupper, referring to where they originated.

Hi Jesse. I always enjoy all of your videos. If you see this I want to say I would like to see you get a super great instructor like Matt has to help you continue to grow. Would you be interested in that? Maybe even use Matts instructor periodically? I think you would enjoy it so much and esp if you get a new young horse to work with. I would love to see you get a lesson like Matt does. It will be great for your growth, esp while you are young and riding at your best. ❤
