That is quite a lot of damage to piston #3. I hope that the block can be re-used with minimal work.
Speaking of that piston, I have one from my former AW11 4AGE (completely stock) (I have it here at my desk - I'll upload a photo later). It also melted the ringlands and put a nice hole that you can see the wrist pin through. :) Not exactly my finest moment, but definitely a memorable one. :)

Not a money shift. Lean tuning on a specific cylinder. Compression test will show this and the exact cylinder that is the culprit. Syncs should prevent accidental downshifts (money shift)

I would look into getting that damaged motor machined and sleeved, I bet it could be done
New sleeve and shes good to go. Hopefully a machine shop can get that repaired. It would still be hard to trust that block since only 600 miles

I went for 4th in my GRC at 70-72 mph and accidentally caught 2nd for a split second which tops out at 59-60. It lurched, revved high, and I immediately pushed the clutch in. I don’t think I let out the clutch all the way in the moment, but I let it coast for a few seconds afterwards and then babied it the rest of the way. Normal driving ever since and even 1 or 2 pulls have felt fine, but it’s got me feeling dumb and stressed that something’s wrong even though it feels fine. I didn’t see where the RPMs went. Think it should be good or should I be worried? Also I’m very excited to see this build!

@josephtejeda854 I did think about it lol. More expensive than a 450hp coyote v8, more expensive than a built 13b rotary, more expensive than an sti engine.
@@scottcolpitts8521the motor has been out for 3 years… of course it’s expensive.. give it 5 years and if they start putting it in other models the cheaper and cheaper it gets

I’m a owner of a gr Yaris in Australia and I believe the short shifter in these cars are not great . Because they are short , muscle memory driver skills are worthless . I mean my floppy 5 speed in my Hyundai Getz is quicker to change and safer to change to any gear .
Yeah the stock gear shifter and trans is definitely a weak point of this platform
That was not caused by a money shift, definitely a lean cylinder

Between this one looking like it ran way too lean on one cylinder and mine having had issues running way too rich on one cylinder before it caught fire I’m starting to wonder if there’s a defect in some of the injectors

“Lucky” there is a lot of salvageable parts but imma have to wait to use this block till someone comes out with a sleeve kit
