    Great video. If you lay down white pencil first, you can get really nice white hair when you scratch the green off.

      Ooo yeah that sounds like a great tip, I didn't think of that! That makes a lot of sense as it would prevent the green sticking directly to the paper and staining it. So it would preserve the white colour. I am definitely going to try that 😀

    Best tutorial I've seen. Subscribed. Ty for explaining where and why color placement, including the sequential colors in layering, as well as mentioning the importance of working fur in clumps. This vid really helped me understand how to draw fur in colored pencil.

    Fantastic job!! This is amazing! I am very new to using Prismacolor pencils and am hesitant to begin. I’ve seen such beautiful, realistic work that I just can’t believe is created by pencil! It’s a bit intimidating lol. You clearly have an amazing talent for it! Thanks for sharing!

    Thank you ... I think that with this drawing, you convinced me to buy a 150 set of prismacolor Premier, (I already have a kit of 72) ... but I will buy the 150 ;-) .... I tried luminance, procolor, colorsoft ( but not a huge amount of pencil and expensive by open stock ... then for my waxy and for quality / price I will go with PREMIER :-) ... I have my polychromos ... I know some people don,t like the prisma's but me I like them. ...So A KIT of prisma's and poly's it's going to be very good, I think! . Thank you for yours vidéos, very nice job ! :P

    Rendering realistic fur takes skill. Beautiful job. You just earned a new subscriber! You asked for suggestions for tutorials; I would love to see how you paint such smooth (not blotchy) skin tones in your colored pencil portraits. Also, a tutorial on various textures (e.g., a wool sweater) in colored pencil. Thank you for sharing your talent and skills with us.

    An interesting and valuable tutorial Kirsty. I needed guidance and insight before trying my first cp drawing of a wolf. I think you got the voice-over just right. Thank you.

      Thank you :) I made the outro picture with a free photo editor called Picmonkey... yes I still can't afford expensive editors yet aha! So I found a background photo I liked and you can find the subscribe button and social media buttons with transparent backgrounds on google images. Then I just added text and each video just use the thumbnail of the video before :) I hope that helps.

    Sorry if this is a really obvious question, Kirsty, but after putting down your different colour hairs you go over it completely with the white. It seems to blur all those lovely sharp hairs. What's the reason for that? Just seems that you're having to do the hairs twice.

    Very nice video! I'm just getting into colored pencils and am wondering why you use the Caran D'Ache white and black pencils instead of the Prismacolor.

      Caryl Wolff Cara D'Ache is much more opaque and lies down wonderfully. You just won't get the same depth with Prismacolor or Polychromos.

      Wasn't it a blending tool rather than a brush? I may be wrong. 😑

    • @joannetiffany8047
      @joannetiffany8047 Před 7 lety +2

      She didnt use a blending tool or brush for blending she used the white lumiance pencil for blending. She used the brush to sweep away bits that she scrathed off with the etching tool

    umm you know your "scratching too" is an x-acto knife that, if you aren't careful, can easily cut holes in the paper?
