Anyone greedy and selfish cannot go far in life. The kind of grace on King Suny Ade and Ebenezer Obey is so unusual. Imagine when they have been relevant in the music industry. They are a class of musicians and that is why they are evergreen. All our musicians these days won't last 10-15 years. Singing and paying instruments is a big deal in the world.

@ultimateone why won't he be elusive and unconcerned? He doesn't have to dignify bunch of thieves any serious response. And who says he has to condescend to all these clandestine, merely orchestrated to tarnish the image he has built over the years? I doubt if KSA will respond, and he doesn't have to if you ask a discerning and unbiased truth seeking music aficionado like me. This thousand wire interview has put paid to all these shenanigans displayed by these disgruntled and fetish former band members. What we have seen on this thread is desperation and a deliberate attempt at distorting a vital part of our history . The golden forays of our Yoruba culture into modern pop music, championed by KSA and Ebenezer Obey, has been lost, dragged in the mud on the alter of satisfying disgruntled and greedy former band members. KSA led a band, made name, wealth, and fame that perhaps only the EGYPT 80 came close to. These pull him down syndrome will never work, and until the journalistic style is changed, no serious guest will pander to this forum of OLD WIVES TALES.

To validate what this man said. Listening to The Merciful God, there were two lead guitarist. The weaker one was allowed to play the opening chorus while the stronger one was opened by the mixing Engineer at intervals. Their styles of play were different.
The game changed totally in Eni T'oluwa Da Lejo, the style of play was stronger than the former.

At 53:13 a name was mentioned "Dafe". Please is he still alive ? He is a bass player. Egbon Dafe and I played together for a long time. We were band mates at "Poatson Cougars all Star Band" formed by Prince Jide Adeniyi in the early 90s. It's an highlife band that featured the likes of Elder Tunde Osofisan, Appaipah Jay, King Pago, Ade Wesco and so on. I played lead trumpet in that band and was always close to Egbon Dave Dafe. All these interviews you've been doing, I've heard the same story from Egbon Dafe 30 years ago. I was kinda surprised no one from KSA mention his name until now. The last time I saw Egbon Dafe was 1995 when I left Cougars all star and travelled to Canada where I've been living since then. Thousand wire is very very true and genuine on the issue with KSA's band. Like I said, I have heard similar stories from egbon Dafe. I would love to link up with Egbonn Dafe again. However, if you need to interview someone who is candid and is not afraid of the truth, then you need to interview Dave Dafe the one that played the bass in Merciful God. Please where is my dear Egbon Dafe???? For a long time, I've been wondering the connection between Baba Ogundele and Egbon Dafe. It's today I know that he was his in law. Even me I know soooooo much about the going ons in KSA BAND based on the stories from egbon Dafe.

Most of the Sunny Ade’s boys are ‘music illiterates’, they do not understand what constitute a successful music. The fact that they’re good on a particular instrument, they believe they’re all in all. They believe without them, The African Beats will sink. It takes more than playing an instrument to be a successful musician.
Most great musicians buy their lyrics, add the instrumentations, arrange and get the able hands.
Sunny Ade has paid his dues and knows his onions that’s why he’s still relevant today. With all their stealings and boasts, where are they today? Why can’t they try to form a band and know what it is to manage a big organization like African Beats. They’re rogues and that’s why some of the are impoverished.
Sunny Ade is very versatile, creative and does not rest on his oars.

Some of the pivotal points I took away from this enlightening interview are as follow(s):
    • That KSA on his own is a very good individual who displayed self control over the excesses of his band member(s).
    • That the band was a big band which was very successful at the time, and with it came a lot of conspiracy theories. However, KSA had to manage the diverse characters in the band, and this he did with stealth, otherwise, how can one describe the very beautiful tunes/ albums that came out of a band that was crippling itself with jealously, internal strife, high handedness and lack of foresight ?
    • The interviewee said a lot of things that incriminated some of the disgruntled ‘Elders’ of the band who had thought the ‘status quo’ would remain and their field day would be eternal. Unfortunately, they did not plan for the future, and consequently fell on bad times but none of them revealed their own misdeeds which possibly has led to the retribution most of them are now experiencing.
    • My last but very important take away point is that one can view the life of band members just like the life of footballers. Both are careers which do not last long and as such one must prepare for the future. I see a lot of correlation between the two professions. So, if you are a percussionist and vocalist likewise you must make hay while the sun is shining otherwise no matter how good you may have been in the past the present is always the reality. In KSA’s band that reality happened to Alhaji Timmy with Rasaki, it happened to Segun Oosha with Thousand wire & the list is endless.
    • As direct and forthcoming as Thousand wire is, he still gave his erstwhile boss 80% for being a good man. It says a lot.
    • Thanks Agbaletu for bringing another smashing banger to our viewing.

The hallmark of a core Ekiti man is to be brutally honest and careless about whose horse is gored. Thousand Wire does not even exonerate himself in his narrative but lays the cards faced up. Being fearlessly honest is not akin to loquaciousness and we can not be liked by all. We are all entitled to our opinions.

You are entitled to your opinion, sir. We respect that. However, the hallmark of any worthy son of ODUA is to be an OMOLUABI and upright in his dealing. But being heady, hothead, grouchy in the morning, and moody in the evening are hardly the trait expected a properly Brough up YORUBA man, let alone an EKITI man you alluded to. Is thousand wire's admission of stealing from his bosses till something his children will be proud of? Is this worthy of emulation? I can imagine how the younger demography who are on this thread will be looking at this individual and perhaps by extension the older generation. It is generally sad by this admission even if wire didn't spare himself, but don't let us condone all these shenanigans all in the name a geographical location of one's ancestry.

Thank you for your confirmation that I am entitled to my opinion and the same applies to you in absolute terms. And if you respect my opinion as you claimed, my comments will not attract a litany of cross-examinations from you.
My position and opinion on TW's interview stand as opined by me. The comments have nothing to do with his personality and character but solely on his interview, unlike your position here. I look at the message, not the messenger and believe collectively that makes us rise above primordial sentiments.
My words are chosen with reference specifically to his narratives here. I don't think anybody is qualified to be judgemental here even when KSA told TW, "don't you like money? You see your colleagues stealing money and you are not involved" They were involved not us.
I will sincerely appreciate it if your opinions are expressed in the general comments section where everybody states their position. You have said my opinion is respected and it stands at that.SequeI to this, I will not dignify anybody's position with a response . For Agbaletu's second interview it depicts only the deep can call deep and commentators are still calling for other series with him.

KSA who never like self-opinionated or strong-willed band members must have loved and hated in in equal measure. He shed light of many previously undisclosed events within Segun Adewale's and KSA's bands that I could listen to him all day long. Surprisingly, he made no mention of Akinyele Sidona at all in KSA's band. Well done, Agbaletu for doing this part 2 interview. We'd happily hear part 3 & 4 of him too, if you do them. It would have been nice to know why KSA stopped playing guitar, from TW's understanding. Also why TW returned from American, why he hasn't returned there etc amongst other questions. TW was also right that awon Olorin nikan ni won le yan Oba Orin, laarin ara won. Oba Olorin ti Alaafin je, o je je si apo ara e ni.

Yo are so bitter to the point of not admitting KSA is the King of the first genre of music to put NIGERIA on the world map. Is it not obvious, that this Thousand wire fellow is being pedestrian or petty so say the least. at times, confused and disjointed. Recall, he was the one who acknowledged KSA's SUPREMACY in the juju genre over rivals in an earlier interview. Respectfully sir, I pray you find happiness. You are so bitter and sadly, no one can help you. If I may ask, who bestowed the tile KING OF POP ON Michael Jackson? was it his fellow musicians? Allow me to educate you a bit. You see the title KING OF JUJU MUSIC was the result of a Newspaper poll conducted by sketch News papers in conjunction with Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo state; wherein KSA TRIUMPHED and was the preferred Juju crooner by almost 90% of the participants of the said polls, over other rivals and the time. The late Alaafin of Oyo merely graced the occasion as the chairman and was accorded the honor of crowning KSA; as KSA was his favorite musician. Just so you know, KSA and Alaafin lived in the same house in Oshogbo whilst they were growing up. Ever since this event, did anybody grumble? No! not even the GREAT, EBENEZER OBEY. Till today everyone in the juju genre admits the stagemanship and supremacy of KSA, without a doubt. KSA has since gone on to conquer the world of music after that event; a testament to the fact that the polls was indeed proper. We dont need a revisionist, such as wire to tell us what he does not know.

He should learn to be courteous on how to speak about Elders expecially his leaders not calling them names . Maybe his drugs or alcohol intake contributed to being disrespectful.. I wish him Good luck. Total buttress your point on the way KSA was crowned the King of Juju Music by the then Alafin of Oyo, It was the Entertainer Sketch weekly paper that conducted the survey and KSA came 1st, Commander Obey 2 nd while Dele Abiodun came 3rd.. Thousand wire should do research before saying what he was not aware. of. Food for thought.

@babatundebello628 Thank you, sir, for your sound corroboration. What is paining them the most is KSA'S silence. Trust me, sir, KSA will not dignify all these clandestine to disparage the legacy he has worked hard for. KSA's humility is his only saving grace in all this charade. He has never talked bad about these ungrateful and disgruntled former band boys. KSA, in an earlier interview by AGBALETU said that he would be willing to assist any former band member who has fallen on hard times if he was approached.

@@Zendaya63You're very right. It wasn't Alaafin that singled handedly gave KSA that title or some group of musicians. Dele Adeyanju knows this history and he should have come in or corrected TW. It is very unfortunate that this so called TW in trying to display no-nonsense attitude, gave some spurious or erroneous information. One can say and stand for truth and yet be courteous. Highly uncultured and rude fellow!!

I dont think Agbaletu should keep going back to interviewing Thousand wire again. He seem not coherent or perhaps he doesn't realize the magnitude of the avalanche of inconsistencies in his stories. In an earlier interview, he said he asked KSA bluntly for his passport, but this time around, it was KSA'S manager he asked. We should remember in an earlier interview, he had said he has seen KSA thereafter, and apologized and both parties have moved on. Again, How on earth can KSA be jostling to be promoted by sterns records when he was already under contract with Island? I am happy Dele took it up with him that KSA WAS ALREADY SIGNED to Island which was earlier in time and a far more lucrative deal than what Sterns records could have afforded. For the benefit of doubt, Sterns records was founded in 1983, the year KSA was nominated for a Grammy with Synchro system, whilst Island was founded in 1957. As a matter of fact, Segun Adewale was signed to sterns records in 1984. So stern records just like many labels at the time decided to make forays into the African space following the ground breaking success of 1982's JUJU MUSIC by KSA. Whilst he admitted that KSA was a good boss, with all the atrocities the African Beats members committed, it is a fact that KSA dodged a lot of bullets, and it is only a band leader with wisdom and tact such as KSA that can survive the many onslaught from these dishonest and fetish sets of band members.

It is surprising that TW is not running a guitar academy or school to train aspiring guitarists. That would be a hugely lucrative venture for him. He does however need to watch it as he looks blotchy like someone with problem with alcoholism. Just an observation.
