Very helpful sir Please keep making such videos bcoz working principle everyone knows but these things which u have taught is not told by anyone without taking a fee or a paid course.
Thanks for the info. Answered a lot of questions and saved me some time. I've been using 525's for a long time but had never tried to configure one this way.
Thanks for the great video! We have been dealing with 525's for years, but never knew about the USB connectivity and setup through CCW. Normally, when we have to change a drive; we install it, power it up, and manually set the IP address to get it online. Then we would connect to it through Studio and drop all of the parameters in it. This way through CCW gives us another option. I just got done trying this out with a spare drive that we have and it works great. Thanks!
Glad this helped you with engineering efficiency!! You should check out the Siemens drives controlled by a 5069-L320ERMS2, I made a video for it. This is my own opinion but I have found them to out perform the AB drives. That's just my opinion though.
@@PLCAutomationTraining Thanks for the info about one of your videos. We don't have much Siemens stuff anymore. We find it not to be very user friendly. Our corporation as a whole is phasing out anything Siemens, and we are a German owned company too. AB seems to be a lot easier to deal with, and it is our corporate standard for PLC's. For VFD's, we use AB and Yaskawa.
Really Helpful tutorial. one Situation i am facing. The PF525 drive is already configured and running perfectly fine. now i wanted to monitor the drive parameter when it is currently running. to do that i got online with the PLC and got into the properties of the PF525 from the I/O configuration in RSLogix5000. and from there i clicked on Drive tab but then was getting Error as '"AUTOMATIC CONNECTION FAILED - MISSING DEVICE IN PORT 1 IN OFFLINE DRIVE". So is the Drive Configured incorrectly? and Is there any Solution to the Above Error
Wow. Great lesson. One question. Can We do the same procedure for the others PowerFlexes like PowerFlex755, PowerFlex70, PowerFlex700?? (I mean, using the USB cabe). Thanks for the video.
Good tutorial, I still have some confusion on how this exactly works. I have been going through the manual nonstop about it, but I had some questions. Can I connect the powerflex directly to the Ethernet while it is plugged into its main power source and adjust parameters like that? Taking the powerflex apart to adjust the parameters every time so I can use the USB seems redundant. Also if I can use Ethernet, it is not connecting to the device. When I tried following your video and tried uploading the file, it said the file and the powerflex had different versions of the file. Essentially the powerflex had version: 5.00 and the file was 4.00. I was thinking I would have to update my Connected Components software on my computer. Would this be the right way to approach it?
Mike Silva download the new drives firmware from ab and yes you can update CCW. also yes you can do it over ethernet, you have to set the IP address through the him then power cycle the drive. then you can connect to it over ethernet and do the same parameter setup with ccw or through rslogix 5000
Thank you this was a very helpful video. I was wondering if you can add video of how to connect using RS5000. I don't have the right add On installed and im not sure what I need to download in order to connect and be able to upload and download. Thanks
When I plug in the VFD to my laptop there is no auto play. Then when I check the removable USB Drive, I cannot view the VFD and quick access just keeps loading. My computer can't seem to recognize the drive. Do I need any other programs besides CCW.
hello I am working with Powerflex 525 and the micro850. I am having some trouble to access the powerflex's tags through the component workbench. Could you tell me how I can do that ??
Hi again, so I ended up being able to get through the video without any errors after updating the drivers and CCW. Now I can't seem to be able to connect my Powerflex to my laptop. I know you mentioned something about entering the IP through the HMI, but I am not sure how to do that, if you don't mind explaining that part? Thank you
Yeah that is exactly what I did. For some reason the device isn't being recognized when I try to connect. Like I said earlier I had updated the CCW to the latest version, and the driver as well.
So I figured it out I had to match the IP from the computer's LAN to the IP to the drive separately from the Control Panel Menu. I appreciate the help!

Good job, thanks for share it!
I can put one together it may take a week or so before I get the correct PLC available. What micrologix controller are you useing
great source for learning!!
that was very helpful, thank you.
thank you so much
my friend
Thank you . this video was helpful
It's very helpful for beginners,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Thank you
Great
I will add the connection video for RS5000 tomorrow
thank you

does it work in windows 10. I have hard time uploading and downloading. any idea?
Thanks this video its amazing, very helpful
Can you setup the device to run automatically instead of having to activate with the key pad or ethernet?
yes, you can select different start and stop source , 2 wire, 3 wire, analog in, digital in, through ethernet or dsi comm ports
Wow. Great lesson. One question. Can We do the same procedure for the others PowerFlexes like PowerFlex755, PowerFlex70, PowerFlex700?? (I mean, using the USB cabe). Thanks for the video.
Roberto Nogueira the drives I have dealt with do not have the usb
Sir good day..thank you for your video.
Can make another video tutorial on how to set up or configure e2p dual ethernet/IP adapter to powerflex 525
What happened to your video on converting from PF40 to PF525??
Is the .ccwsln the only file that's required as a backup? I also have a .ccwsuo in my folder, what is this for?
thanks
Good Job...!!
Are you from Utah..?
Iowa
What about connecting to one that is on and running and pulling the parameters off?

Wow thanks for the quick response. Ill let you know how it works out!
Do you want to download all versions of the CCW software (like Logix), or will the newest version work across the board?
Also, subbed. Your vids are great. Super simple to understand. Gives me a lot of confidence with software/hardware I haven't used before.
thankyou

Ricardo Azevedo im sorry i just seen this. i will look into it.
This needs to be updated. The Rockwell site has changed a lot. also you need to have an "membership"with Rockwell before you can download from them.
David Bailey I'll update it thanks fornthe info
very informative though, thanks
Is it possible to control powerflex without plc only modbus tcp?

Mike Silva c129 through c140 ip sub gateway in that order
Yeah that is exactly what I did. For some reason the device isn't being recognized when I try to connect. Like I said earlier I had updated the CCW to the latest version, and the driver as well.
I did power cycle the drive as well. Still isn't recognizing the device
