- We play an epic 650 point battle between the HELM'S GUARD and CIRITH UNGOL Legendary Legions.
I take control of Helm Hammerhand and his Rohirrim. Aaron brings Shagrat, Gorbag and Shelob. The scenario is Retrieval and they're fighting in the Shire, naturally!

Love the format as nothing else like it for MESBG. Just enough dice rolling to feel involved in the battle. Helm is going to become alot more popular when the new movie comes out!

Love the content and videos! Fantastic quality for the Batreps and helping explain the tactics and ideas for each thing is super cool in trying to understand what's happening and has helped me point out things to new players as well.
One thing to note as well, cavalry models can't use the shielding rule.
That's great to hear! It's difficult to decide what level of info to give - gonna make something for brand new players at some point - but really glad you're enjoying!
And I thought they could Shield if they were Expert Rider but I haven't got my rulebook to hand. There's already a small catalogue of TwoTrees rules errors we can add it to! 😂

Great job! One of the better battle reports on youtube. Losing shags and bags in one turn is a real tough loss! Always a big relief for a CU player when shelob wins a duel. No might for her is a tough one!
Thanks! 😁 Yeah Shelob is a real head scratcher because she's such a threat in so many ways but I think she might take a while to master.
@@twotreesgaming Agreed, everyone thinks the survival instinct is her big weakness, but I think it's the 0 might. I've played many games with her. Not once has she ran away. Died plenty, but that will has been enough to keep her around. I've had the best luck keeping her lurking picking off stragglers. I try not to throw her into a big fight unless I can get one of my banners nearby. For me, a real head scratcher is bringing an orc shaman along. minor hero who can only help half my army is not really what I want to be spending points on.

Thanks! We'll get some WIP shots on Instagram for it at some point. But yeah, would love to do some scenery stuff- I think a flood Isengard or Moria may be on the cards. But not painting, that's not our strong point 😂

Love the format as it makes it easy to see the movement and strategy but it loses out on the biggest part of gaming which is enjoying the models. The painting and conversions etc. would like to see more close ups
Couldn't agree more! We've got three more videos ready to go up in this format and then we go to two cameras which I've just started editing through- one for what you see here and one for glorious closeups (of averagely painted models 😂).

Good game! I think once the shaman was killed, consolidating everyone with Helm to protect the objective and letting Shelob take yours would have secured the victory.
Definitely! And probably what I'd have done in a tournament. The fact it's my brother means bragging rights comes into play so going for a 12-0 over a 6-5 becomes a thing..! 😂
Really enjoyed the batrep. Only suggestion I have to make it better atm would be to reverse the numbering system on the might or rename it to might spent (as to me 0/9 this reads more of 0 left and 9/9 means you still have all nine). Same potentially with the deaths although you'd then need to rename it to models left. This one isn't so bad and it is very much personal preference over anything else. Kepp up the good work and looking forward to watching more
Very good suggestion- it shall be Might spent from hence forth! (Although I've already finished the next couple of bat reps, but soon after that..!) I think for kills I'll leave it so as not to confuse at this point, but I understand where you're coming from- could see it as kills or models remaining... Thanks so much for watching!
Great batrep! Only hiccup is at 13:15, Cavalry models cannot use the shielding rule =( I learned this the hard way with my Knights of Dol Amroth a while back!

@@twotreesgaming super fair. I was using my knight to screen off Imrahil (thereby having a F5 knight that could shield and prevent the trap) which I found out after the game I couldn't do. Could have actually swung the game hard if I had played it properly!

No they can't!! We messed up 😂 I got confused thinking Expert Riders could, luckily it didn't affect the game

Yeah I would not want to be on the receiving end! His Fight 5 is his only downside really and that can be mitigated

@18:16 gorbag specifically heroic moved to charge that king's guard so kings guard wouldn't have had charge bonus right? Am i not seeing something?
Yeah I didn't explain it too great but he's tied up all the cavalry he can get to whilst remaining in 6" of Gorbag. One was left to charge him which you can see on 16:30 (again, not great play..!).

Some more stats would be nice. Just W/M/W/F makes it hard to follow. With so many different models and stats having Fight/S/A/D would be nice too.
I probably won't take this route from a graphical point of view - I think it'd be quite a lot of work (especially if I went into special rules too) but I am very aware the videos are very much for those who know the game inside out at the moment. I'll try to add a bit more in the way of explanation of stats going forward, and looking to make a beginner friendly report with the whole works at some point too!

Haha might be our part of the world, or our general lack of need to often use the word shaman... 😂

Am I the only one wondering how a Cirith Ungol army and Helm Hammerhand ended up in the Shire? Besides that Helm, Shargat and Gorbag didn’t live in the same age.
Haha we aim for just random settings and participants for the Matched Play style games. Saving the themed armies and boards for specific narrative scenarios otherwise we'll just end up doing similar battles all the time!
@15:30 would have probably been better to take out the horse, VPs are nice, but helm without a horse takes so much away from this LL

Question - who is the two handed weapons? What Weapon? And are pikes two handed? (I was told they are NOT) Please explain so I can learn more. Thanks a million Mikey V.
Hi Mikey, thank you! My hope is to do a beginner friendly video at some point with explainers.
For two-handed weapons- some of the orcs and half the uruk-hai are armed with them. They've paid points to have them in addition to their regular weapons so may choose to use them or not (some profiles have only two-handed weapons and so must use them). When using a two-handed weapon, you get -1 to the Duel roll with those attacks but then +1 To Wound when making Strikes. You're often better to go one handed unless you also have a regular weapon in the fight! Pikes are not "two-handed weapons" even though they require two hands to carry, they have their own separate section and are basically spears that can fight through two warriors instead of one.
