Iâm not concerned about the tie fighters. Iâm more wondering why Vader couldnât have just hopped into his shuttle and gone after obi wan while the destroyer went after the rebels.
The Grand Inquisitor was literally the only logical person in this series. He was the one that suggested they continue the pursuit lol
@@roger632 And the GI was even there! Vader could have been like, âIâm gonna go after obi wan and you can go after them.â I believe Vaderâs shuttle has a hyperdrive, so itâs not like he needs the destroyer thereâŠ
@@shoeman6966 Exactly. Someone can't really say he left it in orbit to stop Kenobi from escaping, since after the duel, Obi-Wan left the planets atmosphere and suddenly there was no Star Destroyer lol.

Fortunately for the rebels, this all took place during negotiations between the empire and the TIE pilot union, who were out on strike until paid leave and medical benefits were guaranteed.

The true dark force behind everything. The UTFW, United Tie Fighters Workers. No wonder why Palpatine aged so badly between Revenge of the Sith and Return of the Jedi.

What negotiations
"Rebels have a lot of plot armor in this show"
Meanwhile, Wade: Wait you guys are getting plot armor?
I don't know, considering the number of Sith harmed in the making of this program, I'd say there is plenty of plot armor being spread around.
Wade joined the force and did all the things to help rebels even help obiwan to raise the stones when fighting Vader
it's not too well known that not all star destroyers have tie fighters...
but this one definitely has them so why?
@@Kelnx plenty of wade spread around too after exploding probably
Nah wade wasn't even an important character or a soldier. It's not plot armor at all.
They were balancing the books for the fiscal year and realized that if they cut down on tie fighter expenses that everyone in upper management would get a fat bonus for coming in under budget. And thatâs the reason why, Vader was able to live with himself at the end of the season. After all, giant lava castles are expensive and difficult to maintain.
Spot on. Do you know what it costs to run the AC alone?!
Surely the commanding officer of that star destroyer got a promotion for keeping the budget in check on TIE fighter deployments!
I like that the Empire is so progressive! Hiring blind people to operate their ship's cannons is very cool of them
Dark Helmet: How many Assholes have we got on this ship, anyhow?
Bridge Crew: YO!
Dark Helmet:
I knew it. I'm surrounded by Assholes. [Closes helmet] Keep firing, Assholes!
Sorry sir, doing my best
1. The ship had it's shield on. So, when the blasts explode, the blast made contact with the shield, instead of the ship.
2. The ship is incredibly far away. Try shooting something a mile away, then let's see you call someone blind.
3. The ship was constantly moving around, making it even harder to land shots. Try shooting a ship far away, moving incredibly fast.

I think the fake Jedi guy, Hajs Estree, could have been used more in the show. That character had so much potential. He could have been a sidekick for Obi Wan that proved himself useful with his skills to deceive and use them to get OW out of trouble in unconvential ways. His character felt unique, novel and morally ambigous. His skills was put to use for good although his practices was questionable and exploitative, showing that in a post Clone Wars era the notion of good and bad had eroded away. All the "good" Jedi had been eradicated for treason against the very republic they had swore to service and protect with their life. The "bad" Sith triumphed and were now the "protectors" of peace and stability. Haja was my favorite character in the show since he exposed all the shades of gray that perhaps also subsequent Force users like Luke and Leia would have to contend with in order to navigate this new world and uncertain future. Afterall, everthibg do depend on "a certain point of view".

But why did they shoot Kenobi? Vader wanted him alive?
In episode 4, they had a tracker, and so they "let them escape." (I kinda suspect that the tracker was a backup plan originally, and Reva didn't mean to let them escape, but she said it was plan A to not get strangled by Vader.)
Well, that rescue was fairly easy. They didnât even question a bearded guy with a kid in his trench coat. Just another Tuesday at Fortress Inquisitorious.
@@russellharrell2747 I am going to say this, seems Empires biggest weakness is because of the level of Obedience and Fear they put into everyone, including their own troops. For a career in the imperial Navy Plan A is a must.
â@@Demokirby no doubt.
Thatâs a lame excuse. we saw most of the interactions between her and Leias droid. She would have had only a moment to put the tracker on the droid, let alone the time to alert the entire base to not pursue the targets.
Besides the tracker still doesnât even explain why they didnât see the snow speeders on a radar or something and sent out ties before they even had a chance to attack the base and rescue obi wan and leia, making the tracker a moot point.

Because of "DIVERSITY"....
*** "DIVERSITY"... A child Reva defeated Anakin Skywalker when she was in Kindergarten and just easily escaped his killing spree of the Younglings because she was the first Fully inclusive Black Character in the Star Wars universe, (Black, Gay Lesbian, Female). Even though the biggest character in the entire franchise (James Earl Jones, Darth Vader), is Black. Along with Lando Calrissian, Mace Windu, Finn, and a host of other make-up'd characters.
*** "DIVERSITY"...And Adult Reva Survives being stabbed through the Heart with a LightSaber. Again, because she is the first fully inclusive Black Gay Female Character. WTF? How do you get run through the heart with a light saber and appear in the very next scene acting like it's just a scratch? It's so bad it's not even Laughable. It just make you want to throw something through the TV.
*** "DIVERSITY"... Leia is now 1000x more Powerful and Important than Luke ever was in the Star Wars Universe, because she's female, even though it's been established hundreds of times over that she refused to be trained. Because... Wait for it. simply because She's a girl... Even though Anakin was literally the Chosen one. And Luke faced down Darth Vader multiple times. Including going 2 on 1 against Vader and the Emperor. And was the only one who walked out alive.
*** "DIVERSITY"... Child Luke looks like he eats School Paste and Crayons, while Leia is Strapping a Gun on her hip at the ripe old age of 10.
*** "DIVERSITY"... the Biggest hero in the entire Clone Wars (Obi Wan Kenobi) is a Complete Pussy and can't do anything, even though he faced off against every major threat the emperor threw at the Jedi including count Dooku twice, and general grievous twice. And he ended up killing Grievous even while his own troops were trying to kill him because of order 66. But in this series, the female spy inside the empire Tala Durith, can defeat entire garrisons of Storm troopers with just a Blaster on her hip, she stopped Darth Vader and all of the Inquisitors at the same time along with hundreds of Storm Troopers with only a single shot. While Obi Wan was running around looking like Jack Sparrow or a Benny Hill Character.
*** "DIVERSITY"... For some unknown reason, the fist fully inclusive Black Gay Female Reva not only knew about Leia, but also knew about Luke. So after they went after the 2 as children, why did Darth Vader Stop going after them if they were what brought Obi Wan out of Hiding in the First Place? And how did she she know about the kids when not a single other person in the universe knew. Simple. she's a fully inclusive Character, (Black Gay Female with the Power to Defeat the most powerful Sith Lord in History, the chosen one, when she was just a baby).
The Entire series is just so stupid and makes no sense.
Especially when the lightsabers start bouncing off of people in the final fight. suddenly they won't cut through anything anymore. They just bounce off of human flesh. But they cut through blast doors 2 episodes earlier.
Why doesn't Disney Fire Kathleen Kennedy. I just don't get it. She's purposely destroying the most valuable franchise that ever existed. There's no way any of these decisions are being made by someone who wants Star Wars to Succeed. They're trying to destroy it.
Idk why yâall are so grumpy for no reason, I agree that many portions of this show had bad writing but it literally has nothing to do with man-hating or diversity, you can change the genders and races of the characters and it would still be bad
There's a very very very very very easy answer for allll of this.
The writers of this show simply couldn't bother to write a consistent and solid narrative that falls in line with everything we've learned from other movies and shows.
They basically just said "Nah, those Star Wars fans are idiots and won't notice this and that" at every story beat that doesn't make sense.
as state by the Disney Overlord. The story must end in 6 ep. By hook or by crook. NO TALKING BACK TO SUPREME LEADER MICKEY.** slaps all of us***
There were plenty of moments i like about Kenobi. But as a chain.....it could have been so much better.
I miss the days where to keep C3PO still due to budget and technical constraint, they will just add in a dialouge saying if Luke dont need him. He will shut down.
Small things like that helps!
There actually is a very simple answer. Not only would TIE fighters take time to mobilize, but there are also limits to what they can do. TIE fighters are not high quality. Also, Obi-Wan was the biggest threat and as such the primary target. And i am pretty certain Vader expected to at least get harmed in the duel since its fucking Obi-Wan. And it would be hard for Vader to get medical help if the destroyer had buggered off.
@@Morten_Storvik yet obi wan leaves that planet and we donât see a Star destroyer LoL nice
@@Morten_Storvik thereâs two types of people - people that watch the show and do mental gymnastics to make whatever they saw make sense in universe, and people who look at it and say this is bad writing and totally illogical
@@Morten_Storvik tie fighters do not take long to mobilize lol
Yes, an Imperial class star destroyer typically had a full wing of 72 TIEs on board (canât remember if that varied between Imperial 1s and Imperial 2s). Thatâs the same BS plot armor the rebel scum have always had. The original Death Star had 7,200 TIEs aboard. How many were launched during the battle of Yavin as depicted in episode 4? THREE. THREE out of 7,200!
If only Director Krennic was on board
You have to remember that all the pilots, managers, clones etc. were relocated in a Dark Sith planet far far far away, in case Sidious miraculously resurrects after his future death and rebuilds a massive army of ships out of nowhere....I mean, you have to have some stock pilots for that plan right? The rest were on strike for poor health care provision..I mean, how many Stormtroopers with pretty bad aiming had access to specsavers dude? Empire is shit...they got what they deserved :)
They didn't see it as a big deal, since the station was seen as practically invincible.
They only realized the 'danger' when it was too late.
And I think it was half of a Wing (12 out of 24 fighters) if I remember rightly.
the empire is actually awesome, and all the media we've gotten are just rebel propoganda. Clearly the vast majority of the galaxy loves the empire and hate the rebellion, given how they keep going for the former. Every non-Empire govt before and after, canon or not, has been an unmitigated dumpster -fire
It wasn't 3. Darth Vader's squadron was 3. But before that there were other TIE Fighters and we didn't necessarily see every one get blown up. Also there were probably docking bays spread out across the Death Star and the ones from the other side needed time to travel around it.
Episode 4 makes sense because they let them get away, like in ANH.
The whole chase scene at the start of episode 6 was inexplicable from top to bottom.
I was worried we were watching a small screen version of The last Jedi slow mo space chase. That ISD was pounding the freighter for like 10 minutes, thereâs no way the shields held that long.
@@russellharrell2747 everyone seemed very chill about the whole situation as well. It just felt so strange.
Had people reacted with more concerne and Obi-Wan rushed to the escape pod with a hurried goodbye to Leia, it would had worked better.
About the only good from the scene was Ice Cubeâs son confronting Obi-Wan about how we wanted to confront Vader, not that he needed to. But even that could have been handled with Ice Cubeâs son prepping the escape pod and sorta off-handedly saying âyou *want* to confront him donât you?â and a contemplative shot of Obi-Wan as the escape pod is ejected.

Also the ship got away in front of Vader. After that, he had the time to fight with Reva, let the Grand Inquisitor have his monologue, then board his ship, get back to the Star Destroyer and catch up with the runaway ship. After that, they just slowed down and shoot at it, keeping the safe distance.
Um, guess you missed the part about the hyperdrive not working. They slow down because Vader doesn't want to destroy the ship. He wants to force Konobi to separate so that he can face him alone. Jeez, are you sure you watched the episode?
@@ronyrontana9735 The hyperdrive not working should not make any difference as the Star Destroyer probably not used the hyperdrive to chase after a ship which isn't even capable of leaving the system. So the Star Destroyer probably did catch up with the ship as it was faster, but then it lost it's speed somehow.
They can't do that, it's impossible because of..... THA BUDGET lmao.
But seriously though, why was the Grand Inquisitor the only smart and logical person in this series? He was the one that suggested to Vader that they should go after the "Path network" people, and Vader said no... I don't get why Vader didn't just take his own personal shuttle with two Ties flanking him, and just chase Obi-Wan down to that moon? And then leave the command of his Destroyer to the Grand Inquisitor, so that way he could continue the pursuit of the rebels.
The Grand Inquisitor be like: "My Lord, we should continue our pursuit of the insurgents. đ€" Lol
You're right. I guess the Inquisitor is on scene to serve as a plot shield - like the writers saying "hey, we thought of what you're thinking, but there's something else". This something: Vader is not rational about Kenobi. His revenge quest has blinded him, so he doesn't care for anything but his old master.
I'm not saying this is a perfect answer (why not split forces, shuttle and destroyer?), but it felt as their intention.
@@henriquew11 I wished they went that route. But sadly they left a lot of those moments that needed some filling in. Like how exactly Reva got to Tatooinee so quickly, and what did she take to get there? I just feel like, for logic's sake, that they would capitalize on these scenes.

Vader wanted the star destroyer to witness his victory. Imagine the faces when he returned to the ship.

I feel you, Krenick
That's probably because the Tie fighters would do little to weaken the shields of the rebel transport, while the turbo lasers of a star destroyer could wear the shields down. The better question would be why the star destroyer couldn't use a tractor beam on the rebel transport
or vader use his mind force like he did earlier on the escape ship
Wade: A Star Wars Story will show how he disabled the Tie Fighter's Launch Navigation Beacons; without it the Tie Fighters cannot be released from the star Destroyers hanger
The Wade Saga is my favorite part of SW. I mean, is it even SW without the Wade family?

lazy excuse for poor writing
@@jasonsjustbetter2037 So you are saying that Darth Vader`s entire character is poor writing?
@@Morten_Storvik Kenobi's interpretation of his character is poor. Anyone could make the same argument for his portable in the prequels. The show had it's moments MAINLY regarding Vader but overall it was a disappointment due to how much better it could of been.

I think that Vader wanted to get to Kenobi face to face rather than sending TIEâs to destroy the ship
tbh I was asking myself "why this instead of that" a lot in this series. I could explain in not using Tie Fighters because same as when you deploy a military aircraft, they take time getting airborn. And to choose between a Tie fighter which aren't really that fast vs a Star Destroyer which might be the same speed if not maybe faster than deploying fighters then chasing after.
Having said that I cannot for the life of me explain why Vader had to carry the entire Destroyer after Obi-wan instead of using his fighter or a shuttle and send the Destroyer after the rebels. Neither I can explain why when Vader was dragging Kenobi through fire then suddenly an explotion with more fire is an obstacle for him. Many times felt like Vader let Obi escape for no reason.
There is actually a very simple explanation. Vader let Obi-Wan go because he was weakened. He wanted to destroy Obi at his best or as close to that as possible. As such the revenge would be actually somewhat satisfying. As for taking the Destroyer to the duel, what if Vader got seriously hurt( which is what happened) ? Would be a bit of a problem then if the Star Destroyer with the *medical bay* had buggered off dont you think?

I'm glad someone gets it. âșïž
glad someone telss the answer
I he "wanted Kenobi" then he _still_ should have sent Tie Fighters but only to disable and board the ship. It's just lazy writing that works backwards from an ending they came up with first. Logical consistency makes or breaks a story, and this one ain't got it.
what a fucking lame excuse, why shoot the ship then? if anything sending the tie fighters will make kenobi give up quicker and as obi said, vader isnt patient. im sure youll do great as disney writter with that explanation
That's not a reason and not an excuse đ
I think they can but it's about Vader's command rather than possibilities. Vader is like "just follow Kenobi", and I don't think anyone dares to say "wanna send Ties at least?". and that's why Palpi see this obsession as Vader's weakness.
"Boss didn't order me to chase the rebels, so I ain't doing shit. Not being paid enough to be proactive" đ
Im more concerned with the way Reva was walking around fighting after taking a lightsaber to the gut and spine. Especially since her chasing luke took place right after her finding the holo comm.
Some die from a lot less in star wars.
Nobody dies anymore, you got to sell some action figures of them all. Or maybe it's to enforce the possible spin-off down our throat.
@@nicolascorre6830 Stormtroopers died in ANH and they were still able to sell action figures of them. Same with Obi-Wan in that movie, or the Jawas or the criminals that got the lightsaber treatment in the cantina. Tie fighter and Rebel pilots, among them Biggs, also sold. Therefore, death is not a detriment to sales, rather being a poorly written character (e.g. Rose, Rey, Finn or Reva) is.
@@Schnittertm1 I've got a whole collection of dead action figures of the OT. 80's and 90's. That was purely ironic.
They don't define a mood, previous history, bias and goal for the character (the "why are they doing that after all?") prior to writing the whole multi-episode script, or the scene and situation in which they are supposed to act anymore, therefore so much out of character behavior. Finn and Rey behaving the same when they are talking isn't only bad acting, but bad writing and directing too. They have nothing down under most of the time, and God did the directors never let them live on screen, going so fast that they move like squirrels on crack. The magic can't happen in this situation. Poor Rose was lost in the pathos of her dead sister with her soft temper, and so was "monolayered". Only Batman can play the "dead relative" card at any moment, because he is breaking jaws out of it at an industrial pace, and so it's badass. Rose... meh. The badassery never truly occurred, or felt forced. Reva is a mess. Nothing to save. I feel for the actress having bad directions on set, bad lines, general mood, bias and goal changes throughout two successive scenes. Creating a character with such a poor background is impossible.
I don't think she took it to the spine. It was through the gut.
Finally someone else mentioned whats pissed me off since ep.4. They introduce crap new imperial transports but seemed to completely forget TIEs exist except as scene decoration. Also kinda sad they didnât go along with the Airspeeders looking different before the rebels modified them for Hoth
Unbelievable. The folks at Pitch Meeting are going to have a whole lot of fun on their Kenobi video. đ
That ship manoeuvring in space is more ridiculous than usual đ
It's probably due to Vader: he's likely trying to draw Kenobi out of the ship so he can personally kill him, rather than have him die by blowing up the ship by another's hands. He's too blinded by hate to think straight, and no one is going to try and counter him since, y'know, Sith Lord with the Force.
The latter can be seen with the Grand Inquisitor, who *is* questioning things, but backs down when Vader starts raising the hackles.
That's actually a good reason
it's likely due to piss poor writing.
It's nice that you're trying to save this shitty show by finding some sense in its poor writing, but even if what you wrote would be the case, Vader could've entered his shuttle when Obi left the ship and the destroyer could dispatch TIEs and destroy the rebels in mere seconds.

This confused me as well, but what I've kept in mind is that vaders mind was clouded with anger and was determined to kill obi wan, and since no one could do anything without vaders order, things weren't exactly thought out with the state of mind vader was in.
The Inquisitors had ordered a full lockdown of the base, so fighters couldn't be scrambled at that point.
Later when chasing them with the star destroyer they wanted the passengers alive and ideally to follow them to their base. Fighters would have destroyed the ship fairly quickly. The laser tickling was intentional. These are classic Vader tactics. Everything stupid the empire does including bad aim is because Vader is actually playing 4d chess with people's lives.
ok but they DIDNT follow the rebels, htey couldve sent a handful of TIE's and a couple Lambda class shuttles to follow but they didnt.
AINT NOTHIN BUT A HEARTACHE
Bigger question: why divert the ISD from the freighter? Vader, bubby, you have your own ship - go chase your emotional baggage and send the ISD after the freighter
He wants Obi-Wan that badly that he is not thinking tactically. Connects the theme from the flashbacks of sparring with Obi-Wan.
Vader needs time to ready his ship. Kenobi would have time to potentially escape if the destroyer didnât follow him. Vader was blinded and only cared about Kenobi. So he had the destroyer follow him while he got his ship prepared. This gave the rebels time to fix the hyperdrive and escape before the destroyer could turn back around and catch up.

Vader was blinded by Kenobi. He HAD to go and fight him, because he had something to prove... a score to settle.
The Inquisitors were after something more. However, Vader knew Reva would lead him closer to Kenobi... as she did.
His entire plan was to find and defeat his old Master... to humiliate him how he was humiliated.
Only after Vader's defeat in Episode 6 did Vader learn his lesson... that his "need to win" was blinding him from the bigger picture.
He could've gone HIMSELF (which he f*cking does anyways), he didn't need to divert the ENTIRE Star Destroyer for no reason. It's blatantly lazy writing.

@@medafan53 that doesn't detract from my point at all. If he was so laser focused on Obi-Wan he could've gone after him HIMSELF. Vader has a TIE fighter that has a hyperdrive. This scene literally reminded me of space balls all the operators cross eyed and cannot hit anything
Tie fighters take time to man and send off, so by the time they were ready to deploy the speeders had left the fortress, but for the Star destroyer I just assumed it wasnât battle ready and they didnât want to disobey Vader who said to let them go
They should have been on alert in case the insurrectionists had opened the hanger doors. At the very least in order to give air support in case there was any inbound reinforcements, but also to potentially bombard the compound with Bombers that would need escort fighters. But I suppose even if they entire TIE wing was ready, fueled, with pilots ready to launch, that Vader would still just use his strategy of chasing down small ships with ISDs alone, as he did in ANH. Throughout TESB the standard operation is seen with TIEs leading the ISD.
And if the empire sending TIES and then the enemy ship escapes into hyperspace, if would be a problem, because TIE-fighter doesn't have long-range hyperdrive system like the X-wing. (empire didn't know their motivator was damaged)
Literally every military base with aircraft is supposed to have pilots ready to react in a few minutes. I live in Poland and even though war is in Ukraine we have radars, anti-air defenses and aircraft on standby 24/7. Freaking airports have military deployed just in case.
@@No_Man_Is_An_Island this is the Imperial Era, you canât track ships through hyperspace without a tracking beacon. TIEs lacking hyperdrives is irrelevant.
A similar dilemma occurs when you ask why ISDs donât use their tractor beams more often. the range and power are vague but it seems that the freighter was fairly close. The Executor apparently wasnât in tractor range of the Falcon even tho the smaller ship was practically skimming its surface. But then TESB has a few glaring holes in it that are thankfully forgiven in light of the overall quality of the film.

"Are we blind!? Deploy the garrison! Move!"
Ain't nothin' but a heartache
I think itâs because Vader is so caught up in rage and and the need to reign victorious that heâs not thinking clearly. This was mentioned in episode 5 and I believe this fault by Vader ultimately does a great job connecting Anakin to Vader, who are so different in characterization. Even though Vader is so menacing and seemingly all powerful, he still harbors weaknesses from his Jedi days (which can be exploited). I thought this series did a great job portraying Anakinâs transition to the Vader we see in OT (with his final step into fully becoming Vader marked by the use of the Imperial March at the end of the episode). Also Iâm sure none of the imperial officers or even the Grand Inquisitor were up to correcting Vader on his strategical fault given his track record on disobedient imperials lmao
No it is just bad writing. There are other commanders in the Start Destroyer that could have ordered the chase but no. They want particular things to happen for views and the writers do not care whether they are logical or not. They know that most people are "stupid", i.e. they shut their brains off, watch and then don't think much about what they saw

I think everyone calling this "lazy writing" forgets the opening shot of the entire Star Wars saga. Why not question why the first star destroyer we ever see didn't send out TIEs too?
Agreed. I'm just guessing they aren't understanding Vader's motivations at work, even though they are untimely clear.
Probably because they used the _other_ thing we all said they should have in Kenobi. The fucking tractor beam. You do remember the ship actually got captured after that opening shot, right?
But what is illogical, is why didn't Vader just take his own shuttle to chase down Obi-Wan, right as he saw his little ship split from the main transport; and then leave the command of his Destroyer to the Grand Inquisitor, so that he could continue the pursuit, (as the Grand Inquisitor himself had suggested.)
@@Ki_Adi_Mundi I was about to say that. They were already close enough for the Tractor beam so no point in damaging the Ship to slow it down
Rebel blockade runners can be good anti fighter ships so....
I imagine the star destroyer was the only thing keeping the rebels from jumping to hyper space. If you turn the star destroyer away and send out tie fighters then the rebels can jump into hyper space and the tie fighters cannot follow because they do not posses hyper drive engines.
A New Hope started like that
I basically read the sequence when the Star destroyer goes after Obi wanâs lone shuttle as: Vader was making horrible decisions because he was totally distracted by his personal feelings about Obi wan. Itâs the same reason why Obi wan was able to beat him in a duel again. I enjoyed the brief scene with Palpatine where he basically calls Vader out on this. Itâs Vader/Anakinâs fatal flaw: he gets heated about people that are important to him and his decision making skills suffer.
The critique is totally in line with the symbolism of the Empire: too large and too incompetent for its own good. Too obsessed with expansion to worry about holding power over what they have

Yeah Disney kinda missed thisâŠ
I think the Empire were so shocked by the loss of Wade, they didn't want an equivalent tragedy on their side.
The thing that cracks me up the most is how Darth Vaderâs Star Destroyer is keeping up with Obi-WANâs ship. Like, isnât it slow??
An explanation could be they were all still on the planet trying to catch up with the rebel ship as it left so abruptly
As far as the snow speeders, sure tie fighters would of been effective attack. However didnt the snow speeders blow up the tie fighters that were docked while flying by?
However, when thebstar destroyer was chasing the cruiser, the TiFighters would be inefective against a large shielded crusier. There weapons would not penetrate.
Someone could argue that Tie Fighters could if at least been dispathed to follow the cruiser to see and report where it was going after star destroyer broke off to go after Kenobi, however, the tie fighters are short range fighters that dont go too far from there dock, and also dont have warp speed capabilities when the rebels cruiser fixed there drive and went into hyperspace.
Therefore, tie fighters would of been useless.
But then again, i read someones comment here about how Vader could of just left in his Imperial shuttle to go after Kenobi which was a good point and likely true.
However, Vader was in charge and was on his self rage and wasnt thinking of the details, only thinking of personally getting revenge on Kenobi. The Star Destroyer was under his command, and im sure many aboard were wondering why Vader didnt do things differantly, yet who would want to risk there life to question Vader? Then again, the grand inquisiter tried to argue with Vader, but Vader basically told him to STFU. LoL.
I think it would have been cool if the Grand Inquisitor was just like "Fine, I'll do it myself" and just hops in his ship with like tie fighters or interceptors with the lock on rockets and such to destroy the cruiser. But of course, plot armor.
Tie fighters are meant to overwhelm and I'm sure they had enough firepower together to overtax the shields on the ship. That ship wasn't meant to withstand a barrage long enough to get away. It's lazy to say that the empire had such weak ships and it brings to question why they're ever useful if they don't work against medium sized shielded vessles.
Also, use their instead there when referring to someone's relationship to something. For example, that toy was their favorite. There is used when referring to location. For example, the toy was left there. (One example is you said "fixed there drive and went to hyperspace" while the proper way is "fixed their drive and went to hyperspace")
Sorry for the English lesson, but it's a pet peve of mind, lol. Feel free to ignore it if you so choose.

THANK YOU! That's exactly what I said over and over again. Your video is literally what I have been commenting about since that happened.
In the last ep, the reason they didn't send out ties is as follows:
Vader order them to prepare his ship, and he then went down to the surface of that planet. The star destroyer would have had to wait for him to return, so if they had sent ties in pursuit of the Rebel ship, what are they going to do once its destroyed, they'd be in the middle of nowhere with a long ass way back
why would the star destroyer have to wait for him though ? it could just come back when either one had done their business.
@@victrix5196 shhhhh
Strangely, because of the Traken Doctrin, tie fighters were always considered expendable. The ship might only carry 72 "fighters" but remember, ties don't have hyper-drives. IF a ship has to jump fast... the captains may chose to sacrifice their tie's. also in some cases ships might not carry tie fighters in exchange for more tie bombers. IF the ship is planning on jumping quit they may opt not to launch fighters...
So yeah, its not unheard of for Destroyers either not to have any fighters onboard and be waiting for a resupply... having abandon them... or not wanting to launch them.
There is also an arrogance with some captains who don't LIKE fighters. "I am in command of the most powerful battleship the empire has designed, why would i want to launch fighteres and give some no name pilot the glory of the kill, when i can do it and secure my promotion.
Not sending tie fighters wasn't the only thing though. Darth vader has his own ship, he should just go after obi wan with his ship while the star destroyer deals with the rebels
so what you do, and i know this is a crazy idea.
your ship type on average holds 50? "fighters"
you launch 4-8 to shoot out the other ships engines, that's it 4-8 with pilots knowing damned well they are on a timer (who as such will get VERY aggressive)
maybe leave behind a low-cost carrier/support craft "just in case" that can keep them alive or transport them back to the garrison of the planet you left if for some reason the pursued ship decides AFTER a 10-60 minute firefight to FTL jump when in theory they should have been able to do so not at all or should have started calculating before they even took off top get out of orbit then scram
@@IRMentat The empire has some carriers, but heck, they even consider the carriers "expendable" at times. Quasar Fire-class carriers often act as resupply ships and pick up ships, picking up fighter abandon by their star destroyer and returning them... but it happens... so often...
They also use Gozanti-class to carry 4 at a time. so 3 might jump in with 12 to replace some.
But this comes back down to the Doctrin where star destroyers are the be all and end all and weapons of terror, so should be able to do anything and if the captain can't maybe he shouldn't be the captain.
@@MM-eb7hm Depends on the exact year/setting, this seems to be about 9 bby. the Tie advanced didn't come out till 4 bby. So vader would be traveling in an imperial shuttle still.
@@jenniferstewarts4851 obi wan was landing on a planet. All he needed to do was take his shuttle, go to the planet and tell the destroyer to keep going after the rebels. It doesn't really matter what ship he was on
Well actually I disagree with the statement, that Vader could of just hopped into his shuttle and gone after Obi Wan while the destroyer went after the rebels. This is because he is at the control rooms of a star destroyer, they are large. He cannot just in mere seconds get into his shuttle. It'll take hims 5 to 10 minutes to get into elevator, walk towards his ship, ready it and blast it off. In that time, the rebels or obi wan would be too far to chase. So he had to pick 1, I don't think that sloppy writing, but I think the tie fighter part is unusual, though Vader may off just wanted to kill Obi Wan himself instead of letting tie fighters. Hence why he didn't send any.
