I'm planning on doing more body work to it over the winter and throughout the spring. I will be finishing off the Saleen kit with the rear bumper and side skirts. I picked up a set of 03 Cobra mirrors as well. I'm re-doing the stereo system over too, geared towards show purposes, of course.
Also, under the hood a lot of things will be powdercoated hopefully by next spring. The accessory pulleys, intercooler piping and the valve covers will all be done in chrome, as well as some of the mounting brackets. The "chrome" BBK headers are all rusted, so I might go with the MAC ceramic coated long tubes which should help me pick up a few more horses. The EGR will probably be deleted, as well as the PCV system too. Breathers will be used to clean up the engine bay a little bit instead of having a bunch of T's off the main line. Some stainless braided hoses might be used for a little more show and if money allows, I'm also going to get some polished caps from UPR and some hood struts from Redline.

That is true. It is not the quantity of cylinders that equals performance. It is the engineering of the engine.
You can find whole engines out of thunderbird supercoupes which are 3.8 v6 supercharged built for boost and throw it in a mustang and have a mid to high 12 second car just stock. People don't realise how much power a shitty 3.8 can make

@eskamokiller don't go faster if you bypass it, your driveshaft can blow if you do that's why ford put the governor at 113. I have an xcharged 2007 v6 and I still won't even go over 120 because I still have that stock driveshaft
They are the Autometer Lunar series. I had to search a while to find them and I eventually got a set off of ebay, but that was 5 years ago.
The manifold comes off a 98 Windstar its a stock part of the van that fits great in a mustang giving it I'm guessing about (10hp) not that sure but that's where the manifold intake is from

@25Celtics It's the supercharger. The V1s are notorious for not only whistling loud, but having a grinding sound too. It's normal for them.
I have had a few cars in the past buddy, atm iv got a 06 dodge magnum and a Chevy Corsica, the Corsica is a rally car i race in Michigan and the mag is a v6 kid.
I love how this car starts up and sounds like the stock V6, but is absolutely no where near stock lol.
@MeghanBlondie199416 Yes but, since your Thunderbird is pre-1998, you will have to get the upper intake from a Windstar that is right around the same year as your Thunderbird. (They used the same 3.8 in just about everything from year-to-year).

@Wolfen126 the ford 3.8L v6 (232cu) was forged to match the Buick Grand National...it's designed to take boost like a boss.
If you have deep pockets get twin turbos . Way more power but will cost you a lot more. You'd have to replace a lot of the factor parts on your car. Supercharges and turbos work almost the same except a supercharger is an air compressor worked by a belt and a turbo is worked by the exhaust and other air and will not waste as much gas as a supercharger but either way it's a good investment if you want to go fast in your v6

@MustangScott2000 Not exactly..You can buy the mounting bracket still and then mate a Head Unit and the other parts needed.
A supercharger basically pushes a shit ton of more air, adding a lot of power. Its not cheap. Expect 3500 at a minimum. But you can hit 250whp (~70 more) out of a new edge (99-04) with a few supporting mods. But remember more power = more stress on the engine. That means it can break easier. Go to a supercharger's manufacturer's website (vortech pro charger etc) and look for FAQs. After 2-3 hours of research you'll understand what a supercharger is and why you would/wouldn't want.
@mattvn0070 It's from the 98 Windstar Vans I believe. It's more efficient and allows a lot more air flow... Look up Vap Windstar on google

I don't see the EGR, did you delete it or you had to? If you delete then you have a check engine eight and then you can pass emissions test. Please can you tell us how did you make it work?

Well my windstar has 190+ BHP and 185+ HSP.
The only difference is the weight,chip,rear-ed,tuned suspensions......

just to give some input there is a difference between the mustangs of the late 90's to 2003 the 96-98 models all have sigle port intake manifolds and produce abt 156hp and or give or take 205 ft lbs of torque stock (v6 motors only) from 99 to 03 ford decided to give it better folw by creating the spilt port design simmiliar to the windstar motor but made of aluminum im not sure the hp rating is with the 03 models v6's but i know stock for stock the 03 will win against the late 90's model

Im confused with brucekirk89's comment. You know that a ford windstar is a mini van, Right? How is there not a difference in that and a mustang? That's all that windstar intake is from. VAP auto are just taking the intakes from 90's model windstar minivans and creating a kit to make it work with a v6 mustang. Those mini vans have 155 hp, so how is that the same as a mustang? Those intakes are great designs though i was going to do one on mine but you have to delete the egr valve.
wy would you pick a low powerd ta over a mustang. 84 models would do good to even spin the tires over thr v6s would out run the week 305s all day

ok someone plz tell me which is freakin better shorty headers or long tube headers. No one will tell me a definate answer. All they say is long tubes flow better and take heat away faster, but my god come on shorty headers basically just shoot your exhaust straight to the pipe. it's like you don't even have headers cause they're so short so that automatically makes em flow good and less metal there so lighter than long tubes and... ugh i don't know just tell me which is freakin better

hey, i have a 2000 v6 mustang 2 and its got dual exhaust but what does supercharging it do? im trying to make mine sound nice and go fast because its kind of a pussy.
Get long tube headers sct chip from AM and go to your local salvage yard and get the wind star intake then go to a mustang forum and get the fab specs for it

You could of had a v8. I've raced a turbo v6 in my Dakota, that poor stang didn't stand a chance. My sister has a 5 speed v6 mustang. Sucks
