  • What happens if you put live bugs in a microwave oven? Will that actually kill them or will they survive? Now you know the truth.
    Please note, sometimes I do not always receive posted questions from viewers, or I do receive them, but CZcams does not allow me to respond to them. Sometimes I do not receive a question until six months after it was posted. These glitches do not happen often, but they do happen. Why anyone would think ants could survive a microwave attack from Guy is beyond me 😂.

    If a hot dog gets cooked in just 30 seconds, that is probably all the time you would need to cook the ants. 😮

    • @GuysPestSolutions
      @GuysPestSolutions  Před 10 měsíci

      Could be. I never tested it at 30 seconds. I was thinking about doing it at different time intervals, but I didn't because I was afraid some folks would think is would be even meaner than just getting it over with. The ants were pretty fried at 4 minutes, so I'm thinking that it was overkill. The point is though that this does work. The amount of time may also depend on the pest involved. It would make for an interesting study. Be well my friend.

    Step one: Build a giant microwave
    Step two: Build a house inside.
    Step three: Leave the house and turn the microwave on for 4 minutes
    Step Four: No more pests.

      thank you, currently i have 3 victor muskrat clamp traps and 3 bridger #4 traps in use in the attic , it is not a house but a building i built a dozen years ago when i first went blind, bad news is it shares a wall with a metal shed and they are for sure traveling in from there and possibly fron the fig tree right next to the shed, guess i have to trim that back, i just bought a walk the plank kit for a 50gal metal trash can and i have one and think it is a novel idea to drown them. i only allow my dane to get at the ones that seem young and jumpy, the others i kill with a ice pick and toss outside the gate for the feral cats.
      i use a squirrel call to scare them out but it only works sometimes.
      i think the walk the plank trap kit is gonna work, i was thinking of something similar for a 5 gal bucket. that is about all the space i have in that attic area which is just a piece of plywood above my head on 2x 4 i put across the room above my head.
      i am gonna put the walk the plank trap where the rats can get to it at the back of the building within 4 feet of the shed door opening and the porch at the level of my building. i have gassed the inside of the walls with sulfer chloride gas from little giant mole smoke grenades so as they touch it they burn skin chemically.
      the outside wall of my building is only osb so they can chew through it i am sure, i built this building so i will go around and find the hole, it has to be at least 3"diameter that is the largest rat that has gotten in a 4 lb one.
      effer bit my finger that is when i started using the icepick to hold and end them.
      if the walk the plank does not fill in the first week i will change the location to the roof of the shed because the feral cats may be keeping them up high on the fence line and tree and then roof and then into my building. they always come from the foam insulation above the attic plywood and jump down onto that and that is where the clamp traps usually get them (got #5 today a few hours ago. thanks, i probably cannot fill all the holes, it is a peir and beam building basically a glorified shed i converted and insulated and i have been living in here for a dozen years. the whole town is plagued with rats.
      last year i was trapping 15 per week with peanut butter they like the rancid stuff more. and that is what i give them. i plan to mix some with plaster dry wall and just put it in a bowl up there. and i have a motion sensor black light mesquito trap up there that turns on when they move past it but that only scares them for so long eventually they get brave.
      i am only trying to keep them from the prepper ramen hanging from the ceiling and the 20lb bags of rice. no food is kept outside but there is a fig tree that drops overripe fruit but the feral kats like 4 of them hang out under the tree.
      funny thing i toss my leftovers 40 feet away in the mulch pile and the cats eat that but the rats wont go near the mulch pile. i will climb on the shed and trim the tree back as far as i can reach.
      if i had help they would be using the airguns to just shoot them. but no such luck, thanks for the advice, i dont use poison because one rat tossed the poison down to my dane one time. cannot allow that again, if he was not 180lbs he would have died but he only got sick that time.
      so i dont use poison anymore. guess i get a case of slim jims and eat most of them smiles and put a few on the far side of the plank. that should draw any rat from 20 feet or less and once they get close the pile of peanut butter sprinkled with imperial pure cane sugar will get them on the plank and in the can.
      i have experience drowning them so know just how deep the water has to be.. thanks again.
      being blind does not tend to stop me like some blind people. like i said , i built thie building blind. it will float if i put a drain plug into the north east corner.
      so they have to be getting in from up above the 8 foot level where i put a secondary layer of osb and there may be a hole in that layer it is the same height as the shed roof so they had time to chew at that level.
      and that is also the same level they are appearing at.
      process of elimination...
      course there is a hole in the metal shed wall from me shooting 50 cal airguns through it when i first broke my hip. so gotta close that hole , cool. i have a plan. an easy one really. i already cut a square in th epaneling where that hole is. they cannot climb up between the wall there since that , and duke wags his tail if he sees them looking through the hole. and i know he is silently telling me there is a rat looking in..
      he acts friendly to them as a trick, and it is a game i taught him called kill the rat but dont eat the rat. and it started with my hand in a rat puppet toy.
      so he is litterally trained to play a game with them and then catch and close his teeth on their heads and then leave them there in the yard , he gets two treats with toothpaste smeared between them for killing a rat, and then a beggin strip afterwards for not eating the rat.
      he sometimes eats the tiny ones . and i doubt a young rat is going to have disease. not when it is the size of a mouse young and comming in looking for its mommy that just got hit in the clamp trap.
      those are rat treats and duke can have them.
      have a good one and thanks for the advice.
      if you are ever near dallas and need to borrow an airgun for some extermination , i have plenty.
      .22 through 51 caliber. but anything coyote or smaller is .25cal usually. and spiders get the .22 without a projectile just the air .it works great on the big wolf spiders poof splat. wasps get the pressure sprayer with water and dawn dish soap. and they all die easy, ants get corn starch or baking powder.
      and flies get the salt shotgun from a co2 pistol
      my friend has issues with the german roaches i told him to remove the guinea pig food. he wont do it. told him soap and water solution kills them , he adds bleach because he dont believe me.
      but i am blind and never had a roach issue here,
      sometimes those long beatles that pop but no roaches, and the beatles never last longer than 3 seconds after they fall into my hair. crunch and toss.
      not really scared of any of it. and realize the stings are actually benificial most of the time. now if i can only get rid of all the trunpet vine in the back yard. but that will require a different kind of expert.
      the walk the plank trap kit is $20 on ebay if you need it it is the 3rd google suggestion in the advertiseing.

      @@AIRGUNZ_MILITIA Okay. Color me impressed. You are an amazing guy. I can't believe that you do all this stuff and you are blind. That is absolutely amazing. It sounds to me like you have a pretty good plan. If you like, you can also make baking soda poison that will not harm cats and dogs. It kills rats because they cannot vomit. Still, bait stations are recommended around pets. To make this poison, combine 1 cup of flour or cornmeal with 1 cup of sugar and a powdered chocolate mix. Then add 1 cup of baking soda. Mix it very well and put it in the bait stations. It helps to also put it in bottle caps or small containers just to keep it all together. I wish you well my friend. I think you've go this.

      thank you again. so that is why it sounds like they are gagging sometimes they ate something solid hahaha. well that sounds like a mix of stuff i have used alot on ants as a kid, but makes sense, but i am gonna mix peanut butter in also cause they like it and maybe a rice krispy treat, i stick those on the bridger trap tines and well i have found more than one rat with those tines shoved through its face for a rice krispy treat. the homestyle ones.
      well your knowledge and gracious comment about me is very appreciated.
      i avert ants from getting into cracks in the foundation by just squirting the 5 x dawn into the crack. it really works like for a decade each time.
      knats and flies and even wasps and hornets all die with soap water that is thick. anything with an exo skeleton.
      roaches cannot pass a thick line of dawn put in all crevases and under counters. and smearing dawn on the wires will keep ants from eating into the air conditioner unit out side. but do the smearing while the unit is turned off and allow to dry before use.
      yall have fun making bugs pop...

    • @GuysPestSolutions

      Wood roaches are an outside roach. Very similar to American roaches, but a different species. Wood cockroaches are typically found outdoors in damp areas with a lot of organic matter, such as in leaf litter, under fallen logs, loose bark, in wood piles, and under stones. Just like American roaches, they do not survive well indoors. They may enter your home to escape weather conditions outside, but they will usually die on their own without treatment. If you want to get rid of them, then treat your yard every 30 days. I will give you a link to my video on how to do that. Be well my friend.

      @GuysPestSolutions  Před 7 měsíci

      In theory, the jar should not get that hot, but it did. I'm not sure why that is. I used a jar because it was easier for video purposes. The idea wasn't to show a way to kill ants exactly, but rather to demonstrate that a microwave will kill bugs in general. I don't think microwaves are particularly useful for killing ants, but this works really well for books that have mites in them, roaches, and even some termite species. Anything that does not contain metal, but does have some sort of bug in it, can be microwaved to kill that pest.
      I hope that helps. Thanks for watching. Be well my friend.

    but no matter how many rats i trap or shoot or anything another comes and another and another continuously like to the same traps.
    is there a way to make them not want to come in my dwelling, i have used mothballs poison traps tossing a cat in the attic putting a family of cats next to the building. and even tapeing a spoon of peanut butter to the barrel end of an air rifle and pulling a cord when the rat made it wiggle.
    please help, i am blind and rats are very annoying , it sounds like they are doing acrobatica above my head to get at the dry food stores i have hanging from the ceiling under the attic space.
    i even sprayed silicone lube on plastic trash bags covering the food stores,.

    • @GuysPestSolutions
      @GuysPestSolutions  Před 10 měsíci

      If you have rats getting into the building, then you need to seal them out, which means you need to find the openings where they are getting in. I do not know how you do that if you were blind. It seems to me that you are going to need somebody to assist you with this. I have ways to identify the entry points, but it does require vision to pull it off.
      Meanwhile, you can discourage them from being there in the first place. If you have pets, do not feed them outside and do not leave food or water bowls outside. If you have any bird feeders, then it's a good idea to remove them. While the rats may not make their way up to the bird feeders, the birds can be quite messy and some of that bird feed may find its way to the ground, where the rats may eat it. Make sure that all your trash cans are covered, and they have no holes in them. In other words, make sure there are no food or water sources that they can get into.
      Try to find someone to assist you who can walk around the outside of your house and seal any openings that you find. You can use a commonly available caulk for small holes and Stuf-Fit for larger openings. I will give you a link where you can buy Stuf-Fit. If you have any trees or large plants that are touching the house, then trim them back and make sure that you have no trees that are overhanging the house.
      Now that you've discouraged them from coming into the house, it's time to eliminate the population outside. To do this, you need to use a bait and bait stations. I will provide you with links to these products. For the best results, place the bait stations directly against the foundation of the house and space them about every 15 to 20 feet apart, where you are seeing the activity. You need to check the bait stations every day and replenish the bait as needed, until you are no longer seeing the bait being eaten.
      If they are just in the attic, then use traps to catch them. I think that snap traps work the best, and they're very affordable. However, if you wish to be kind to the rats, then you can also use traps that will catch the rats alive, and you can release them someplace outside. You can find a good selection of these on Amazon. The traps I am recommending can be reused. Always wear rubber gloves when handling traps because the rats may avoid a trap that has a human smell on it. After you catch a rat, you can dispose of it in the trash and then rinse off the trap with a garden hose for reuse. Do not over clean the traps because you want to leave a little of the rat smell on the trap. That will make the other rats more likely to approach the trap. Be sure to check the traps at least daily or more often because dead rats in the trap will cause other rats to avoid the trap. I do not recommend feeding rats and mice to the cats because they may have a disease or parasites that can be passed along. Place the traps at 10-foot intervals where you think there's activity. Since you will be reusing the traps, I recommend that you use peanut butter as a bait because it is easily cleaned off when you wash the traps. If you find that the rats are licking off the peanut butter without setting off the trap, then you can try a little bit of marshmallow. It is much harder to clean it off the traps, but it is practically impossible for the rats to get it off without setting off the traps. If you have children, I'm kind of guessing that you would prefer that they not get their fingers stuck in a trap. I'm also guessing that you would prefer that the traps not snap down on the noses of any pets. To avoid this problem, you can place the traps inside of a bait station. These stations lock so that the kids cannot get into them. They also make the traps more effective because rats like confined spaces. Just use one trap for each bait station.
      Let me know if you cannot find where the rats are getting in and I will provide a possible solution to the problem.
      I hope that helps. Be well my friend.

      @RPostVideos Před 3 měsíci

      But sadly that can be really harmful to other animals that you aren't trying to kill. If you have a cat or someone else's cat in the area and it eats the rat, it will die. Hawks, owls, all of the birds of prey will eat rats and then they become poisoned too and die. This goes for anything in the food web that eats rats, even decomposers.
      I learned this the hard way as a kid. I had rats in my barn, and someone had eat poison out. Rats were dropping like flies in my horses' water buckets and I would go toss those poisoned rats into the pond for the turtles and fish. Had no idea why everything began dying. Mom called the agriculture center nearby and they did some tests. It was full of rat poison. So, rat poison is a horrible idea. ❤

    Will you please do a video about the cockroaches that are able to fly? They are very large and I think scientists call them American cockroaches. They also are called “water bugs”.

    • @GuysPestSolutions
      @GuysPestSolutions  Před 10 měsíci

      American cockroaches are an outside roach and they do not usually survive well indoors. The reason you see them inside sometimes is because they are trying to escape the weather outside. Most of the time, they will just die on their own if you do absolutely nothing inside. They can infest your home, but it is fairly unusual. I suggest that you wait about a month before you do any treatment inside. If the problem persists, then you can simply apply Nibor-D on all surfaces inside your cabinets where you are seeing the activity. You can also puff boric acid into all the cracks and crevices. After that, apply any gel bait that you like in areas where you are seeing the activity. Just use small dots of the bait and place them about 12 inches apart where you are seeing the activity. To prevent the problem, you need to treat the outside of your home. You can simply treat the building, but it is more effective if you treat the entire yard. I will give you a link to my video on how to treat the exterior of the house and a link to my video on how to treat your yard. Personally, I do both of those things because, not only will it stop American cockroaches, it will also prevent almost every other kind of bug from entering your house. If you are treating your yard with a hose end sprayer, you can just go ahead and treat the exterior of your house with it as well. It is super fast to do it that way and it will not cause any harm to you or the environment. That being said, I have to tell you that you are not supposed to do it that way because it exceeds label recommendations, but it really doesn't hurt anything.
      These may also be Oriental roaches. When most people talk about water bugs, they are really talking about Oriental cockroaches, because those guys really like water. However, I have also heard people refer to American cockroaches as water bugs as well. So, it's important to know the actual species, because they get treated much differently. If the roaches you are seeing are pretty much a solid color and very dark or almost black, then they are most likely Oriental cockroaches. You will often find these guys in your drains, and maybe even your toilet. You'll also find them under cabinets in the kitchen in the bathrooms. The good news is that they are very easy to treat. I recommend that you treat all the drains with Nibor-D Foam. Just spray the foam into all the drains until it is coming back out of the drain. Then, just let it sit overnight. If the toilet is not sealed to the floor, then shoot the foam under the toilet for a few seconds as well, from several different vantage points. Next, you should treat the insides of all your base cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms with Nibor-D powder that is mixed with water at a ratio of 7.5 cups of Nibor-D per gallon of water. An easy way to do this is to buy a spray bottle and just mix it in a small bucket and pour it into the spray bottle. You can mix small amounts at a ratio of 1 cup of Nibor-D to 16 oz of water. You should also lightly spray inside the toilet bowl and inside the toilet bowl tank as well, right to the water line. I would also spray the entire outside of the toilet bowl, and it wouldn't hurt to apply a light mist to the bathroom floors as well. If you have these guys in the laundry room, then you would want to treat that drain with Nibor-D foam as well. Then spray all surfaces around the washer and dryer with the spray bottle of Nibor-D. These guys do not travel too far from a water source, so the idea is that you want to treat any surfaces where they may travel. You can flush the toilets and use the drains in the morning, but leave the Nibor-D in place everywhere else until the roaches are gone. The Nibor-D lasts forever, or until you remove it. There is no need to ever remove it from the cabinets.
      I also recommend puffing boric acid into all cracks and crevices and around all pipe penetrations as well that are under the sink, around the toilet, and other areas where you are seeing activity.
      Just like American roaches, Oriental roaches are an outside roach that happens to infest homes sometimes. They did not come up through the drains. They came in from the outside and entered your home through cracks and crevices. So, as with American roaches, to prevent future infestations, you need to treat the outside. I recommend treating every 60 days. You do not need to treat in freezing weather.
      I hope that helps. Be well my friend.

This was no worse than doing any of that. The reason for the test was to show that you can also kill any other kind of bug you want using a microwave. For example, if you have mites in your books, this would be an effective way to get rid of them. It will also work on roaches that laid eggs in a book binding or any of that sort of thing. So, there was a very practical reason for showing that it does work. I didn't do it to be mean to the ants. I hope you understand. Be well my friend.

    When I was a young boy, I like to put ants in the freezer and they comes back to life when thawed at room temp.

      Think i did that with flies. However if freeze too long they won't come back to life.
      Reason i freeze them is so i can tie a string on them and have them fly around... kinda like a balloon but flies. Anyway, didn't work so well. Lol

    You ruined the experiment by adding water. You EXPONENTIALLY increased the moisture, thereby artificially increasing the efficacy of the microwaves. It was bound to kill ANYTHING trapped in there!
    If you really are seeking a conclusive answer, you can't worry about the safety of the microwave oven. I want a do-over!😤

    Don't quit your day job. Experimenting is not for you. You neglected to verify that it's your glass jar that heat up and killed the ants. You didn't use your bare hands to grab the glass jar for a reason. If you allow the ants to crawl around freely, 100% they will all be alive.

      If you watch the video again, you will see that I clearly stated that the inside of the microwave was heated by the boiling water in the coffee cup. Glass will not get hot from the microwave. Microwaves heat liquids and glass has no liquid to heat. So, the glass is not going to get hot enough to kill the ants. I only use pot holders as a precaution because the surface of the glass may be uncomfortable to touch. That is because it is covered with hot steam from the water. This is not going to make the inside of the container hot enough to kill the ants. Therefore, the ants clearly died from the microwaves and not from the glass being heated.
      I hope that explains it. Be well my friend.

    When I was a kid we lived in San Diego. Ants invaded everything including the microwave. It was part of the Summer thrill to turn on the microwave and watch them 'pop' to clear it so it could be used for its intended purpose. 🤪

    the reason the ants died is the glass was heated and the ants were on the glass, if you dont use the glass and just put them on the metal of the microwave they will be fine

In any event, you cannot just put the ants in the microwave or you will burn out the microwave. You must put that half cup of water in there to protect the microwave. If the ants don't boil to death from their own body fluids, they will certainly die from the steam from the water. Again, that is the reason the glass may be somewhat hot to the touch.
      I hope that explains it. Be well my friend

      Your right that a microwave can be damaged over time of you dont add water, but your wrong that only water is heated, you can melt glass in a microwave.

      m.czcams.com/video/B8nnPYBc4hc/video.html&pp=ygUUQW50cyBpbiBhIG1pY3Jvd2F2ZSA%3D here, this guy did it without and water or glass. Normal microwave ovens work at around 2.45 gigahertz giving it awavelength of 12.2 centimetres. More then large enough for it to miss the ants

      @@royalmaskie4014 I am so sorry to have to tell you this, but you've been hoodwinked. The video you are referring to is kind of a ruse. The way he was able to show you the inside of the microwave was because he had the door wide open and the microwave was not running at all. He just added sound effects to make you think it was running. I have to admit, it was pretty convincing, but if you think about it, you will realize that there was no way he could have actually done that, and he never explained what his secret was to making it happen. Well, now you know the secret. Microwave do not heat glass very well, so what you have been told about that simply is not true. If you Google it, you will find out that I am correct. I'm sorry that you got taken in by that video, but don't feel bad. A lot of people did. Keep in mind that there is a lot of misinformation out there, and you cannot believe everything you see on CZcams. While that was a fun video, it was no more real that War of the Worlds. You may have noticed that in my video I did not show you the inside of the microwave when it was running. That is because it can't be one without some sophisticated equipment. You are not doing it with a regular microwave that you will find in your kitchen. So, that myth is busted. Be well my friend.

      @@GuysPestSolutions czcams.com/video/-3IpXgMPKFA/video.html this vid shows how you can put a camera in a microwave, the guy doesn't show you cos its not safe and he doesn't want to feel responsible if anyone gets hurt. feel free to repeat this experiment without the glass, the water might boil the ants but im not sure about that. if you dont mind risking damage to the microwave you can try without the water.
