  • African cities become the new home to over forty thousand people every day, many of whom find themselves without a roof over their heads. With that in mind, the Kigali City Authority is prioritizing affordable housing. On this episode, we examine what Rwanda is doing to hasten affordable housing in a rapidly urbanizing Africa.

blacksultan85 it’s better than having poor people everywhere. You have to start from somewhere, today Rwanda is getting over $500 million from tourism, eventually even those poor places will raise. Look at Singapore

Take rudimentary English classes. Always start sentences with a "CAPITAL LETTER" and always make sure to use a capital "I" when talking about yourself in 1st person. How can you not know this shit when you are a degree holder. Cut the shit out man, you are embarrassing yourself. 2nd of all, Africa doesn't need freaking people looking for jobs. WE NEED BUSINESS PEOPLE.
Use the access to internet to learn how to code. And use your developing skills to program a software that can formalize the hidden economy (i.e street vendors etc.) ... like M-pesa in Kenya. Now you no longer need a job, but you'll instead be offering others the opportunity to work for you.

@ C. Lincoln, English is a means of communication and his message was gotten clearly, maybe not the right venue but I see no reason for the attack!!

He said he was Ugandan, not Englishman. He is also not an English major as you can attest from his comment. Therefore do us all a favor and shove that tough love of yours in your rear end for it is pure nonsense to us.

These real estate projects offer too expensive houses for the common Rwandan!
Government should intervene with a proper strategy including: 1) expropriation of residents whose houses are not of standards without monetary compensation, instead, relocate them to surrounding neighborhoods that farmers would have been expropriated from and relocated to the countryside with cheap compensation.
    2) real estate companies, together with banks, and govt agencies to start building affordable housing units by the tens of thousands, and sell them on lease to the population. Average price: 10,000$ per house of 3 bedrooms.
    3) cut taxes and customs on cement and construction materials
    4) build in height, 3 floors minimum
    5) raise capital from investors in USA, Europe and Asia to the tune of $billions @ 3% interest rate p.a.
    6) stop the speculation on plots in Kigali and other major towns
    7) every civil servant, teacher, nurse, doctor, to benefit from housing ownership scheme
Only then shall we build the dream city. Otherwise, land shall keep being wasted in building 1-floor houses of 600sqm that house only one family, and the rich will end up owning the city, the poor be kicked out or be made obliged to rent endlessly!!
