But be dident get the meaning, the meaning behind the song is that he is with another women but all he can think abt is being with his ex. Hints the line abt how when he looks into her eyes(his current gf) he hopes to see a glimpse of his relationship with his ex.

I guess it’s kinda similar to the ex he’s texting in the video who says she doesn’t know why he’s doing this to himself. She doesn’t know, a lot of people just don’t understand that people do things like that out of heartbreak and escapism. You really have to have some experience with it to understand deeply
As a person who, to be delicately vague....kina lived the life in this video in my mid 20s....this shit hits me like a freight train. People keep talking about how disconnected the lyrics are from the video, i' here to tell you there is NO disconnect. This song PERFECTLY captures that mournful, out of control, spiraling, self destructive self loathing and depression you are overwhelmed with when you are DEEP in addiction, drug abuse, living in some nasty trap house with a bunch of fellow wasters and users, watching your life and who you are as a person implode in slow motion, tormented by the memory of the real, normal, loving relationships, and normal life you use to have. I am 2 years clean and sober right now, and, when I watched this shit, I ugly cried like a baby for like 20 min. This is the realest fucking thing i have ever seen an artist create. Sometimes, as an ex-addict, you need to be reminded what those times felt like....Nothing kills the temptation to use again like feeling that feeling again, even in memory. This song/mv rekd my feels.

yeah, i always felt the video is the reflection of how self destructive we become in an attempt to overcome the feelings of emptiness, and loss, and hopelessness. that part with the phone message "i miss you", like a moment of clarity when he's aware of exactly he hasn't moved on, and that he's only doing all that to bury those feelings

This video is absolutely 💯 🔥. Woman will never understand the mind of a broken man . This hits so hard , I feel every second of the song and video along with it , im right here right now . I want to fucking destroy everything but I want to crawl into a hole and drink myself to death .
I ended up back with my first love after 10 years apart , it was so amazing we found each other again and I've never fealt so complete . She fell pregnant and over the pregnancy she grew distant and eventually lost interest in us. She broke up with me 6 weeks ago , my son was born 2 weeks ago , the most soul destroying thing I've ever experienced. I'm happy I have a son with her but I've lost everything I thought was going happen . I've lost her and the family I thought I'd have. But after 10 years of missing her for this to happen now, just kills me even more , like a huge wound reopened . Don't know where my mind is at but if someone were to ask how I feel I'd send them this 💯

I went through that shit too. When I left for college I broke up with my high school sweetheart so I could have the whole, "college experience." After a couple months in college I missed her a lot and realized I was a fucking idiot but she already moved on. Seeing her social media posts with her new boyfriend ate me alive. I joined a frat and went off the deep end for years. Crazy amounts of alcohol and drugs, arrested multiple times, fights, waking up on the floor with half my stuff missing. Just a complete fucking idiot. We, out of pure luck, ended up reconnecting four years later. We dated for three years and it was the happiest I had ever been in my life. She eventually came out as a lesbian and we broke up. That was two years ago. She is happy now with her girlfriend and moved far away. I'm happy for her but fuck man. I'm too old and tired to do all of that mayhem again but the constant distracting is more so just constant drinking now. Shit suck. I've had girlfriends since then but it all seems so fake when I'm with someone else. This song hits me like a freight train.

Hey, i'm a new viewer. Thanks for reacting to this song.
When i first heard this song, it hit me like a truck.
I would not say i've been trough a breakup but i was like kinda forgotten by the man who i loved.
He said that we rushed it when he was the one rushing it all, and i really didn't mind it.
I thought we had a connection, i truly did.
But after that, everything went south, he just stopped talking or messaging me, i was always the one doing it first.
He stopped inviting me to stuff online, ceased the flirty talk. I felt that something was wrong from that moment.
I began to felt abandoned and alone. Almost everyday at work i would cry a bit and write down lyrics from a random song that didn't have vocals just to express how i was feeling. Even made a whole musical video (That is unlisted) dedicated to him.
It just hurts so much how can someone just toy with your feelings and just leave you there abandoned forever. I felt destroyed. I tried moving on but i see him everywhere now, i would cry even at home at nights sometimes, it's just unfair.
But now hearing your words at the end opened me. I'm not doing those horrible things that those guys on the video clip are doing, but i am kinda like slacking off in life so, i really should just move on and become better myself. It's his loss at the end of the day.

Awesome analysis! The video is him trying to cope. A level you missed is that he's in a relationship now as well. The girl is "perfect" but he thinks of the ex. He wants to love the current one but can't forget the ex. So he has this struggle..."so what do I do?". "Said I'm fine. Said I moved on". Then throw your analysis on top of that and you have this person really struggling and torn and trying to cope but in a very self-destructive way, a way he doesn't even understand.

Believe it or not, this is the first I’ve heard of him ever.
Please react to his other song " dancing in the dark"..
my theory: they arent broken up. he is talkin about both of their past selves to his and her present and future selves. and then talks to his and her past selves when they were happier from his unhappy present and future self they are still together. but they both want to be the way they were when first in love. the things they do in the video i cuz they arent happy anymore. she is in the vid yelling at him the whole time. hes romanticizing the past in the song while the video shows a glimpse of the reality. he obvi wouldnt miss whats happening in the video, hes clearly miserable. they both are. they are both destroying each other. listen to the way she talks to him. in return he acts out and continues the abusive cycle. he wishes for a time with her he can no longer see (out of sight) cuz its too far in the past and is now lost (out of his mind). their life together is flashing before our eyes while he is missing something he cant seem to find scanning thru the memories for the girl he loves, the one hes singin to but she no longer exists and neither does the guy he was that loved her. hes searching for someting he cant find cuz it no longer exists, and the video shows it possibly never existed...
