    the video is essentially the guy and his life on the surface (chaotic, fun, adventurous, free) and the lyrics to the song is what's going on in his head. the video shows the contrast of what people show you and portray while feeling something completely different inside. He's depressed, which is why he wakes up late, sits by himself when the car burna(something that's supposed to be a moment with his friends). at some point they even ask if he's okay but he brushes it off and just does pullups instead but he couldn't even bring himself to complete it because he misses her.

    If you pay attention to 3:47 there's a conversation "I wish things were how they used to be" "Why m I' doing this to myself" "I don´t know" "I miss you" That says a lot I think. Small details, big piece of art.

    the best form of art to me is where theres no description where it creates questions and creates multiple answers that are neither right or wrong. 'Glimpse of us' is that for me, thats why i love reading comments of what people think about it or what their interpretation of the music video.

    My interpretation is that the video show how the situation of still loving his ex and not able yet to forget her although he met a perfect girl has change and afected him and making him become what we saw in the video.

  • @carbonbasedfigure2892
    @carbonbasedfigure2892 Před 2 lety +34

    It's longing and heartbreak. He has a "perfect" relationship but he's hoping for his ex, who's in another relationship. The video shows the self-destructive behaviour he's going through trying to distract himself from his pain, a "f*ck it" and "f*ck everyone around me" kind of attitude. There are a lot of metaphors in the video with the animals and masks. I think the animals (bunnies, deer, horses, dogs) represent being carefree and innocent or maybe there moments of calm in all the shi*t. Whereas, the mask is him wearing a metaphorical mask to hide his real heartbreak. The lyrics seem to support this, "said I was fine" "said I moved on". Moved on from his old relationship, which he hasn't because of this song. He's hoping she's thinking of him and hoping her feelings for her new boyfriend would loosen and she would find/consider him again. I think the last shot suggests he's just a shadow of himself now.

    • @grf808
      @grf808 Před 2 lety

      The last shot could also represent the end of their home squat (the place where his crews living), because it looks like the lights of a police car or smth, it would be good to have this kind of end to represent the chaos. Multiple time we have hint in the clip: the cops comming, hungry neightbors coming, someone saying it's his house, etc...

    You know, I'm glad that some reactors/people to this song don't get the correlation between the video and the song. It means they probably have never felt that broken up inside, have never messed up that hard outside, have never been enabled that horribly. And I'm glad that a majority of the comments for those videos aren't upset about it. Sure, you're sad that it didn't hit as hard as it hit you (and that's for most things reactors watch; like a super epic scene that maybe they thought was cheesy), but you're glad that they never... like, that they've never been that low, you know?
    Yeah, just wanted to write that. ouo

  • @ILoveJammu
    @ILoveJammu Před 2 lety +22

    I think the video corelates pretty well. The guy believes that he is in love with that girl and yearn for the experiences he has expected. The experiences aren't there and there is a way bigger struggle to make the relationship work. He is too weak to handle the stress and struggle so he dwells into easy escapes of stimulants and toxic friends. This takes a toll on his relationship and the girl leaves and the boy is still figuring out what wrong happened. He is still in the world of expectations while singing this song and looking for answers while dwelling into escapes.

    i think the video really just fits the feeling of the song... sometimes you do a lot of stupid stuff to distract yourself from reality, from your problems, but at the end of the day, what you are feeling inside, just moves and falls as slow as the song... the video is about that, thats how it corelates,they have a very selfdestructive life just not to think, but no matter how many things, or how chaotic they are, no matter how fast they run, sadness just can caught up to you as fast, in the song "her" can be a lot of things, not just a person

    I think one of the things I like the most about the video of this music is actually how it looks like all the turmoil he feels when thinking about the situation his in , maybe even an allegory for having a better life now but still falling in old patters...but most of all , is the fact that just like the lyrics the whole music video shows a life trough "glimpses" trough the video

    yessss! like other people said, i think the video is about not having the only thing (you think) you need to live. its like “i love her, but i cant be with her, so fuck it all, whats the point of living this damn life”. i got almost depressed listening to the song, but when i saw the video it was a different kind of sadness, it made me wanna throw up, it was so disturbing and i felt like dying, really. i wish joji only good things, he needs it☹️

    There’s different ways to interpret this music video which makes it more relatable to each persons past relationship but the scenario with the visual and song is that the guys we see are going though a break up and they do all these destructive things in hope to move on or just feel something other then their deep depression. The video becomes more chaotic when it reaches the chorus almost filtering out the vocals which reflect on how they are really feeling inside.

    It says that the song is about he cannot forget about his ex. The author wants to give you the feel that even if you are seeing or experiencing something crazy or awesomeness.. you're still distracted by 'something' from the past. Hence he chooses this combination of video and song.

    on my own pov the song is about having someone currently but you're still haunted by your past bec you realized that he/she is irreplaceable. contrary to the music video, the man is lashing out everywhere, anywhere, and to anybody just to feel something trying to override this overflowing pain inside.

    It’s difficult to process the first few spins because there’s just so much going on and the video seems to clash with the music but it really does get more clear when you watch it a few times
    It’s a person being in a new relationship, something he feels is right for him and all the while there’s this chaos inside him because of this longing for a person he was in deep painful love with before.
    The self destructive behavior in the video, the constant full throttle world that those people are in represent his new relationship that he’s using to bandaid the wounds and pain from his prior love/life.
    He’s making awful decisions, pretending like nothing outside that world(relationship in the case of the song itself) exists while the actual difficult part of his life is still with him no matter how much he uses this new one to forget about it.

    my theory: they arent broken up. he is talkin about both of their past selves to his and her present and future selves. and then talks to his and her past selves when they were happier from his unhappy present and future self they are still together. but they both want to be the way they were when first in love. the things they do in the video i cuz they arent happy anymore. she is in the vid yelling at him the whole time. hes romanticizing the past in the song while the video shows a glimpse of the reality. he obvi wouldnt miss whats happening in the video, hes clearly miserable. they both are. they are both destroying each other. listen to the way she talks to him. in return he acts out and continues the abusive cycle. he wishes for a time with her he can no longer see (out of sight) cuz its too far in the past and is now lost (out of his mind). their life together is flashing before our eyes while he is missing something he cant seem to find scanning thru the memories for the girl he loves, the one hes singin to but she no longer exists and neither does the guy he was that loved her. hes searching for someting he cant find cuz it no longer exists, and the video shows it possibly never existed...
