Turok and storm glider are diffrent species
I always thought it was more like Sexual dimorphism. Where the males and females look different.

One has an individual tail and the other has two tails
I ran into it yesterday throughout the main quest line. It took no damage. Nothing I tried worked. Wish you can bond with it in future DLC
Hopefully you can bond or they add that other big bird Jake bonded with, also it took me like 60 arrows of both heavy and regular bow
You can definitely damage it but its not an easy fight lol
The first time you see it in kinglor forest it's a staged moment so u can't really hurt it and it just goes away

Think because whoever captures and bonds him becomes Tatuk Makto which is what jake is called at the end of 1 and during WoW - the game is also canon so it makes sense that they wouldn’t make it bondable because then they’d have to refer to both as taruk makto
I've seen a couple people say that this is the same species as toruk! But in fact, the hunters guide proves the opposite. The toruks scientific name is the Leonopteryx Rex, and the stormgliders scientific name is Magnus Teratorn. Though knowing how much of an asshole stormgliders can be, being slotsyalä maktoyu would be pretty impressive too lmao

I feel like not being able to bond with these guys was an absolute mistake and missed opportunity. Maybe not as an active story quest, but being able to have one and switch from a normal Ikran to a storm glider would’ve been a feature that hit close to home for all the ones who saw the ORIGINAL avatar in theaters.
Na’vi can bond with stormgliders, it Judy’s takes a very special bond like with the Toruk… there’s multiple DLCS announced, one focusing on Aerial combat… so hopefully we can see something there

They should update the game to allow us to bond with more creatures. More mounts would be awesome. (I just really want a storm glider mount lol)

Cause in the movies they don’t… they only bond with horses and flying lizards till Ewa answers Jake’s call.
It literally makes zero sense that their isn't a great variety of mounts when Navi can bond to just about anything with the same tentacle hair parts.

@@karlwallah2601 that's simply because it would normally be trying to kill her. Taming other herbivores and less aggressive carnivores isn't much of a stretch.
Different species also different head shapes, toruk distinctly has guards above it's eyes preventing it from looking up without turning it's head

First off, Toruk’s head blocks any sort of vision above him. Second, that’s a storm glider which is a completely different species and is just slightly larger than an Ikran and are not a bondable species.
But the thing is, our character lives in the same time as Avatar 1 and 2, and Toruk is known to only take 1 rider in it's lifetime. So even if we did run into one (which is highly unlikely with how rare they are) it might only be Jake's 😅. I think it'd be pretty epic to just be able to ride a Stormglider or especially a Thanator!
Wasn't it said that a normal ikran only takes one rider in it's life? It's not mentioned to be the same for Toruk

toruk is the species, stormglider is an entirely different thing, they can’t put toruk in the game because it has to follow movie canon and there have only been 3 toruk maktos

Stormgliders do have the usb(kuru) their just shorter than an ikrans is.
They should add stormgliders as a bondable animal to ride since Taruk was technically a different variant of the species much like the different Thanators so no one could be taruk makto except Jake sully but stormglider riders and stormglider bondable mount might actually be a cool addition to the game
I had trouble fighting these things in the air, but not by killing one, but by trying to find its body to loot when it falls. They sometimes either disappear or they clip into things, or you just can't find them. That is until I found out you can fight them on the ground once you get their attention, and it's also way easier to line up a shot for a clean kill.

It wasn't wrong... Toruk is just too smart to be caught by the same move twice. Good to know it is in the game. I haven't ran into it yet, but definitely gives me something to look forward to. 👍🏾
Sadly toruk is not in the game and the closest animal in the game is the storm glider witch was also shown in the clip but was called toruk I hope this cleared the confusion for you but it might be in the game as a secret boss and tameable mount you get for doing every quest in the game

Thats the stormglider its completely different than the great leonopteryx or Toruk. For instance stormgliders have an 124 ft wingspan as opposed to toruk which has a 90 foot wingspan
Toruk Makto, I’m pretty sure, is what the rider of the Leonopteryx is called. The Leonopteryx is called Last Shadow. And this seems to be, from the comments I’ve read, an entirely different and untamable species (but I cannot fully confirm that, as I have not played this game)
First I'll off the part of it being a different species, second is that it lacks those eye ridges that sorta cover it's eyes from looking up unless it flies up or raises it's head

I killed it by making it want to fight me on the floor edge of the mountain top, the 2nd layer. It forced it to do a loop over and over in the same place till I killed it. And it wldnt attack even tho I was on my ikran. lol

They probably wont let you bond with it because only Jake Sully is someone who can bond with something so legendary. If they make you able to do it, that makes Jake Sully a shoe rack.
I wouldn’t say that… the Sarentu were the first to become Toruk Makto… so I’m actuality it’s pretty viable to the sarentu to have another

I sat in the water, ran on land, shot it, then ran back in the water. Makes it easier instead of dying over and over again

Toruk is double the wingspan of a mountain ikran a mountain ikran which is the biggest species of ikran have a wingspan of 13.5 metres toruk has a wingspan of 17 metres long. Not to mention that toruks territory is around 185 square kilometers so no that creature in afop is not toruk
I focused on leveling im like 19 got a bit far in the story line but left off on something about priya something just chilling in the clouded forest doing quests
It wasn't just a theory as Jake literally did bond with the Toruk, and two, I don't know why everyone keeps saying this but thats a stormglifer and has nothing to do with Toruk
Hunting the one over the lake is not advised. It can easily sink out of reach then your effort is for nothing when you can’t loot it. Make sure to fight it over the island or choose one of the adults in the clouded forest.
Toruk and the stormglider are two different species and Jake's theory was not wrong, because toruk had ridges over his eyes, so he can see anything, including Jake above him even if he wanted to

Stormgliders are one species and Leonopteryx are another. They are not the same animal in a different growth stage or anything like that. In fact, i don't even think these two creatures are closely related given so much difference in their anatomy and biology...

Just killed my first one today. Stay mounted and use your heavy bow!
I ended up using my shotgun the first time for the dmg out put. Then I used the heavy bow with stun arrows the second time.
