    Z06 is great. For me, I Bought a new 2019 Corvette Grand Sport, with a MANUAL TRANSMISSION, and it’s a great car! Huge power, fantastic handling, and with the magnetic ride control, the car goes from track stiff to cruising smooth in an instant. My wife even asks when we can go for drives in the Grand Sport, and that rarely happens with my NSX. Buy one, if at all possible, life is short.

    I have a black Z51 convt 2009. The fun comes when the passenger tries to find something to hold onto when you take off through the gears and you see their fear as they look for something to hold onto. The look in your passenger's face is worth everything. At an est. 4.5s 0-60 for the base, I would love to take a ZR1 out 3.5s 0-60. Basically, the vette is a race car made street legal & Chevy did a nice job of making it comfortable especially with 3lt opt. This puts the fun back in driving!

    Personal opinion the Z06 is what I want. A car that is a challenge. The process of learning how it works on different tracks, how to improve your lap time. In the end when you put up a damn good lap time you feel like a real driver because of all the obstacles you over came. Once you get familiar with the Z06 505 HP take it to LMR and have it put up to 700HP built tuned and dynoed for 13,000$ as soon as my gf get her new car for her and the baby I'll be getting a nice 2010-2011 z06 for 50-55K here in Canada.

    "carbon-fiber dual-port fenders, exposed carbon-fiber roof panel, rockers and front splitter, as well as a unique rear spoiler. Also exclusive to the ZR1 is a raised, carbon-fiber hood with a polycarbonate window"

    @ER00s Chevrolet does not offer the z51 package anymore, but instead offer the grand sport edition. Personally I would take the grand sport due to having z06 looks and has the option of a targa top and is easier to live with daily. The z06 can be used daily, but is less enjoyable. and on the streets when your not racing, 436hp is plenty =) hope I helped!

  • @Marc99GT
    @Marc99GT Před 15 lety

    This is a point I try and make often when guys with turbocharged 4 cylinders pushing 20+ psi on race gas. You can make alot of power with pump gas and cubes. The Z06 has already made 1,100 rwhp on 93 octane and run 8s. The video of the 8s is here. LS3s can easily make 600+ rwhp on 93 octane all day. There are a few of those videos on here as well.

  • @Marc99GT
    @Marc99GT Před 15 lety

    Wow, it has been a while since I have used C-16. I agree. I am much more impressed by a fast pump gas car because you can drive it everyday and anywhere. Damn. 10 gallons of C-16 is about what you would pay for 52 gallons of 93 Octane depending on where you are.
    This is why I want an LS3. They can make enough power on 93 octane to run low 10s/high 9s trapping in the mid/high 130s. That is faster than anyone outside of professional drag racing will ever go.

  • @IdFightMyDad
    @IdFightMyDad Před 15 lety

    There's more to the ZR1 than just the engine. Its suspension is wildly different than the Z06's and that's what makes it easier to drive. The consensus of all magazine reviews have been that the ZR1 is more docile than the Z06.

  • @frankpaws
    @frankpaws Před 15 lety

    That is because the Viper used 80 wear tires. They are basically racing tires and wouldn't last but 3 months on the streets.
    The Zr1 used stock tire sold with the car at 220 wear.
    But the same kind of tires on the ZR1 and the ZR1 would beat the Viper by 5 seconds.

  • @jtorch1116
    @jtorch1116 Před 13 lety

    I have a c6 base model and I don't know why everyone complains about the interior... I think its comfortable. Also if you put enough money into a z06, it would beat a zr1, Hell if I supercharged my base I could beat a zr1 on a drag (if i had good tires)

  • @rangerRZR1
    @rangerRZR1 Před 12 lety

    i think the people that complain about them are either jealous, or dont realize that if they put the interrior that everybody supposedly wants, the car wold not be as cheap, and it being cheap and having amaizing performance is what the vette is. and i too think they are extremely comfortable

  • @nicholasxuu
    @nicholasxuu Před 16 lety

    somehow the problem is that:
    since it has no reason to exist. It is now selling at a extremely low price at some dealers that the price tag can almost reach a Z51. At this point, which one would you like to have?

    i love the zo6 but the sound from the zr1, sounds more like a ford gt than a vette, amazing, all 3 cars seem pretty evenly distibuted between times on the track which is good.

  • @will21myers
    @will21myers Před 14 lety

    @focusizhere it makes 505hp, but its harder to mod. If it was so easy to mod, they would have just supercharged it to make the zr1. The z06 has such high compression rates that any extra aspiration would make it very unreliable without some major engine internal work. With the money you put into it, you might as well buy a zr1, and it would be much more reliable as well. Hope that cleared up some confusion.

  • @JOHNNYGIX
    @JOHNNYGIX Před 15 lety

    'But the same kind of tires on the ZR1 and the ZR1 would beat the Viper by 5 seconds'
    I agree, but not by 5sec. Also the Viper has adjustable valving to stiffen the suspension which is a must for the track. The Vette doesn't. These are both amazing cars for the money. I'll wait a few years for the hype to settle and get a used ZR-1 and turn the wick up. I love blowers!!

    That's amazing that the new base C6 Z51 can do 0-100 mph in 9.0 seconds, the 2002 C5 Z06 did 0-100 in 9.5 seconds. The C6 Z51 ran 0-60
    in 4.1 seconds, ran the 1/4 Mile in 12.4 seconds @ 117 mph *In this magazine. All three are amazing machines.
    In Road & Track, the new ZR1 did 0-60 in 3.3 seconds, ran the 1/4 Mile in 11.2 @ 130.5 mph!! & has a full warrantee! The C6 Z06's best magazine numbers...Not this mag, was 0-60 in 3.7, 1/4 Mile in 11.7 @ 125 mph.

    What i love is the fact that there are Ferrari's and Lambo's that don't have "comforts" like A/C and radios, and everybody thinks that's cool b/c they are "race cars". but as soon as chevy puts in a "crappy" interior so their car can compete with half million dollar for a fraction of the price everybody gives it shit. I agree with this video. I have a C6 regular Corvette. It doesn't come with Z06 wow factor, but not worth the twice of price tag. If you want more hp to Z51, Edelbrock Supercharger package gives 600hp to L2/L3 engine, which is basically LS9 engine for less than additional $10000 (including installation fee). As for ZR1, definitely hands down, but Z51 vs. Z06, I'd take Z51 and spend extra $20,000-40,000 for customizing regular Vette and maybe buy another motorcycle.

    In reality the Z06 is the best handling as far as its limits. Those people at Car&Driver are journalists not race car drivers. They don't like the Z06 due to the fact that it is too scary for them to drive and that it is really easy to get sideways. If a professional driver did this comparison the Z06 would have been a few tenths of a second behind.

When Lamborghini makes a high-end model, such as the LP640, they make sure you have a nice interior. When Lamborghini makes a lightweight version of a previous car, such as the Gallardo Superleggera, they don't sacrifice the interior.

    For practicality's sake, if you wanted to built a real track car, the Z06 is the car you should buy. Nobody wants a supercharger on a REAL track car. It overheats, puts increased strain on the engine, and supercharger itself burns out. Not to mention getting another additional 100hp N/A out of the Z06 isn't that hard. With all that extra money left over, you can slap on a sweet chassis and suspension and even coil overs and have a TRUE track car that will RAPE a ZR1.

    it's actually more money to produce than standard metal bodywork and take a look at 30+ year old vettes... no rust. Besides, the sheet metal does little in any car to protect the passengers.

    It is funny how some people want to talk about how they like their Ferrari, Lamborgini, Porsche, etc better. But there really is no comparison when you are spending twice the money for less performance. Just buy a vette, get rid of the suspension and other creature comforts and save yourself half the price.

    I have a 2008 LS3 436hp Vette. I agree about the seats, But the steering wheel is also pretty cheesy.... I think it came out of a Geo Metro or something. But Lovin it still....!!!

    on a budget, deffinatly the z51, verry comfortable, and fast. if your not on a budget or dont care about the cost, than the zr1 is the best out there and still cheaper than the cars that are slower than it

    Not to mention the Bowtie on the front. I hate Corvettes. I hate driving them, and I hate(d) working on them. But I can give credit where it's due; for the money, it's a beast. But I'm just not a Chevy guy.

    the porsche gt3 is 112k u.s. and it handles at 1.03g on the skidpad, 0-60 in 4 secs and top speed 194mph weighs 3075lbs while the zr1 is 101k us, handles at 1.02g (thats 1/100th of a g in laymans) 0-60 in 3.3 secs top speed 202mph and weighs 3333lbs, oh yeah the porsche has 435hp vs 638 so thats 203 more horsepower, the zr1 will blow away a gt3 the difference in handling is so minimal, and an intercooler for a supercharger doesnt get that hot, not like a turbo, talk #s not trash

    the cylinder walls on an ls7 are to thin for a supercharger if they survive the boost you wont be able to keep it cool and it will blow up anyway or blow head gaskets

  • @SoreHead11

    @rkfromchi And without the carbon body parts, the magnesium engine cradle, dry sump lubrication (vital for serious tracking), the warrantee, or the reliability. Apart from that you can mod it into any of the other TWO (not three) models.
    But then you'll end up with a car that costs as much as them anyway (if it's a proper job) so why not just buy the others to start with and get those extras and the peace of mind of factory warrantee?
    I used to love modding cars at these prices why risk it? :)
