    The seats lean forward like that to keep them from being damaged when people move the seat back too far. It's in my C5 owners manual.

Huge power, fantastic handling, and with the magnetic ride control, the car goes from track stiff to cruising smooth in an instant. My wife even asks when we can go for drives in the Grand Sport, and that rarely happens with my NSX. Buy one.

    If anyone has ever wondered how many cubic inches a particular engine is like a 6.2L or a 7.0L just multiply it 61, which is the volume of a cubic liter. You can divide a displacement number like 427ci by 61 to get the liter volume.

    I would do the Z06 and add an A&A Blower to it. It would immediately have more power than the ZR1 and only cost you about eight grand to do! I am 29 years old. Agreed. I thought the new Z06 was going to be ridiculous, performance-wise.
      I've yet to see any real world testing that matches the 2.9 to 60 and 10.9 quarter mile times Chevy claimed.
      Instead they made it too heavy, put on too much aero that is severely limiting its top end. Plus it overheats even in cool temperatures.

    The Z06 is a small block 428 LS motor. 7 liters is 426-429 CI. Most people think it's a 427, but the Z06 engine is technically a 428.

    I'd Drive the Z06 carbon edition, while very pricecy, for the $20,000 price difference between the ZR1 you could do a few mods that would cause it to crush the ZR1, and still have all the cool stuff the ZR1 boasts, and that 7.0L 427 makes the most eargasmic sound ever! I will own a Z06 or the new 2014 Z/28 camaro one day, just have to graduate college and wait for them to depreciate a bit lol

      golferchin76 I agree. The C7 is the car all the limp wrists wanted. More expensive junk that doesn't have anything to do with performance. Extra electronics to break. Super duper extremely ugly (which means stylish and fashionable). Terrible visibility. Direct injection to clog up. All the bad that non-corvette buyers wanted that would normally buy a luxury car.
      Also the C7 is ugly.

    ever heard "there is no replacement for displacement" ? the reason is because the bigger the engine, the better the power delivery. but don't let the 7 liters fool you. despite the massive displacement, the engine only weighs around 350lbs or 158 kg. that is amazing for a v8 let alone one that displaces 7 liters. also the engine is bullet proof. you can get great reliability and strap on whatever you want to it and it will go.

    The Porsche Flat six is very reliable. Over the years Porsche has upgraded and strengthen the block to handle the increased demands expected of it year after year. But in a battle of reliability, the Ls V8 has almost everything beat in the performance sector. So reliable is the Ls that it is the engine of choice for almost every project. Including airplanes, where engine are truly put through extreme abuse. The LS is a marvel of reliability that should not be underestimated.

    So if you are saying that all of the things i mentioned are equal to a car (in terms of price) being less than 5% faster then i really don't know what to say.
    However if i could afford both a Z06 to mess around and an M5 i'd get both why not. Hell even if i couldn't afford both perhaps i'd still go with the Z06 because i like vettes, however my opinion on being overpriced still stands.

  • @JesseEnclave
    @JesseEnclave Před 12 lety

    But if you were side-bye-side, believe me, you'd notice.
    Say both an M5 and Z06 are running a mile at their top ends. 194(let's use the 50hp boost)vs 198. At 198mph, the Z would cover the mile in about 18.2 seconds. At 194, the M5 would do it in about 18.5 seconds. Just 0.3secs of a difference, but at those speeds that would translate into roughly 108ft of distance. And at the M5's standard 190mph, that's a difference of about 0.7secs and some 214ft. So even a couple extra mph can matter.

  • @snowmanwithahat

    Have you ever tried to launch an AWD car? It's not traction that you're worried about, it's all about trying to get off the line without bogging down the engine. Not as much of a problem for a GTR, but in an STi or EVO you really have issues launching if you're not aggressive with the throttle.
    I agree completely, the GTR is well designed with an AWD system and doesn't need it for traction like the ZR1 does. But it does need it for the other reasons I've mentioned.

    No, I'm talking about the M3 GTS offered by BMW as a street car. Stripped interior(including back seats, stereo and A/C taken out), half-cage, 444-450hp, titanium exhaust, racing suspension, semi-slick tires; the works. And for that, you paid about $180k+. But its acceleration #s were in base Corvette/Grand Sport territory, and even a base Z06(as in no Magneride or Sport Cup tires)has run faster track times(on the N'Ring, the 2005 Z is 5.10 secs faster). Z07-equipped, there'd be no contest.

  • @Flabernat
    @Flabernat Před 12 lety +1

    I agree. The 991 S isn't as fast for the price(but still very fast), and you get the nicer interior. Corvette is stupid fast for the price, but the interior isn't as high-quality(but not bad). They're pro and cons,... some people just want performance and don't care about the interior, and vise versa. These car journalists don't seem to understand that...
