Hi everyone! I'm Darren, and I'm a third year medical student studying at Monash University. The English exam is in little less than a week. While the bulk of your preparation has likely been completed, it's useful to think about those final touches and considerations for the exam. Here I share five those that I employed and found useful. Enjoy!

Hey man, I just did the VCE English exam today and because of your incredible structure and advice, I crushed it. You are an absolute legend mate and I really appreciate your help with Ransom & The Queen, I am going to burn my books haha🤣
Great work Liam. Burning the books like Troy
Just in time, you’re a godsend
Thanks Emmy, 'last-minute'
Thanks for this video, possible if we could get last minute advice for Eng Lang too?
Not sure if I'll have time to make one but:
1. Have clear timings
2. Remember to write specific effects of the metalanguage in the text, not its general effect
Same ideas for English apply, keep a cool head when unexpected topics/questions appear and go through the study design in your head. And when the exam's done, it's done.
unrelated, but the powerpoint-type editing is funny asl
Very related
Hi Darren, I've been struggling on timing because it takes me like 10 mins to properly plan for a prompt but then i don't have enough time to finish writing. do u think 10 mins is too much? or any tips? thank u :)
I think planning is quite important because it sets the direction and basis of your entire essay. Either try planning a bit more in reading time or shorten your bps. Some sacrifices are necessary and it's actually 'better' if you make them
Hey Darren, thank you loads for these tips. You've genuinely single handedly carried my English grades this year lol, I was wondering if you could link that essay plan at 4:19 because I've made my own sort of skeleton essay map for queen and ransom themes, but I would love to compare it with your ideas. Would really appreciate if you could, thanks again :)
Thanks Meow. Unfortunately can't link the entire plan because people have paid for the full copy.
@@DarrenTan21 That's all good, where can I purchase it from?
@@happymeow7825 just send me an email/message
Its crazy bro, how i write and i have so many ideas yet when i write it becomes vague.
Focus on unpacking one idea first
@@DarrenTan21 Darren, what would your advice be for approaching on a section of an article, that lacks depth of arguments.
@@Timzy2Drip it's good to pick out some quotes fairly regularly from the article rather than skipping over a big section. But if the section is not too big you can group it with some other paragraphs and then analyse all of that in one bp. Also not every technique has to be amazing and deep - good to have some simple and straightforward ones for breadth as well
Hey Darren just want to say a quick thanks for all the help this year. Just a quick question, with a SAC average of 70%, realistically would I have a good chance of getting around a 33 ss depending on how I do on the exam? Thanks.
No worries. It’s more your ranking that’s important. Most scores are free game depending on your exam performance though
@@DarrenTan21 Thanks Darren. Also, with exams that take place later in the day (3:00pm-5:15pm), would you do any studying that day?
nice glasses mate
Thanks Leonard
