aye man, learning to play the trombone was one of the best things i've ever done in my life. never quit band, never stop improving. get lessons, audition for honor bands, audition for drum corps on baritone/euphonium when you're older. do all the things man, trust me. you won't regret it, and you'll love every second of it.

I don't know about you but at my school when you're in honor band they give you the option to join jazz band and I absolutely did! Jazz is just a cherry on top of what already is band!

I come from a generation of musicians and we got our family monniker from something one of my ancestor did. He was told to crow like a rooster at a performance and dunno if it was good or bad. But since then anybody from my gene pool are called "talaok" (how the sound of a rooster's crow is called in Tagalog). I am proud of it and carry it like a badge of honor. Being into music myself. By the way, my late father do not know what piece it was.
