Given the scale, richness and interconnectedness of the world we already able to create in a masterful game like RDR2, on limited power commercially available PC hardware TODAY... imagine the kind of experience they will be creating 20 - 30 years down the road. The gap between 1990's Street Fighter 2 and Wing Commander to 2020 RDR2 is staggering already. The maturing of VR combined with game engines like Unreal Engine 5 and its successors will be drastic. There will be a point where a game world will be indistinguishable from reality and at that point you have to ask yourself if that hasn't already happened in our base reality xD
It’s my favorite game of all time, and makes me just think of what Rockstar can do with GTA 6, considering that GTA 5 was built for the 360 and PS3. It’s going to be fucking insane.

The thing that makes this game stand out from most (bar perhaps gta 5),is the fact that the npcs all go about their own lives, if you stand by and watch them all, its as if the whole city (st Denis) is a real functioning city, the whole place is bursting with life. The game is so immersive. Credit to rockstar, the love and care that went into this, and the story is damn good also, and with a character like Arthur Morgan, it sucks you In even more. I've played both gta 5 and rdr2, like most I imagine, but for me, rdr2 is more then just game.
That is true, and I get the Ledger Joker reference there too. The disturbing thing is that women voting is now perceived by many guys as a negative, due to all this feminist shenanigans. Whereas equality should be embraced, feminism is about female superiority, coupled with a we don't need men attitude. The feminist propaganda only invokes hostilities, and does nothing to better relationships between the two sexes. There's a lot of errors out there. Sometimes people will heavily rebel against one error, and end up embracing another.

When joe talks about being able to feed people to alligators or kill people, he makes it seem like thats why people play it. Most people played rdr2 for the story and beautiful scenery and not to fill some murder fantasy
Seriously, my motives for playing red dead isn’t to vicariously live out some psychopathic murder fantasy, definitely not. Most people aren’t bloodthirsty psychopaths, we just enjoy gaming. I play it because it’s an absolute masterpiece, beautiful game with great story, great characters, utterly immersive and enthralling. I don’t think i’ve ever cried from a video game, but red dead 2 turned me into a bitch. The game is so incredibly full of detail, committing heinous acts is only a small part of the game and they’re mostly optional, during the story Arthur does not want to kill in cold blood. And I can’t remember if they mentioned the honor system or not, rd2 gives the player lots of opportunities to do honorable acts and do good things. They overlook the parts where you do kind favors for people, you go out of your way and save peoples lives even people you don’t know. They overlook the part where Arthur finds Edith Downes and apologizes for what happened, then insists they take money and get out of there. The game is so much more than grand theft horse.
Some people don't understand the difference between deliberately designing a part of their game to do "x", and designing a game whose mechanics allows you to do "x"
Rockstar did make that mission in GTA 5 though where you literally have to torture somebody. The point is though, it's not real, it's just pixels on a screen.
I have been playing the game for almost 5 years. Just recently Im taking about a month ago I was in San Denis and I saw some writing on the wall. I looked up what it meant and when I found out what it meant I spent HOURS searching for more clues until finally at the end I found Nosferatu in an alley way sucking someone’s blood. I have been playing this game for YEARS with countless hours invested and I just found out about this little puzzle that had this giant backstory that is hidden in the game and most people playing the game will never encounter it. There are hundreds of interactions like this. The fact it only took them 7 years to make this game is amazing. It is a Fucking masterpiece and it is without a doubt one of if not the greatest game of all time and I cannot wait to see what they do with GTA 6
I started playing this game last year, and have put over 350hrs thus far, and only on ch4. because there is just SO MUCH TO DO BESIDES THE STORY!! From fishing/hunting to bonding with animals to just exploring every cranny and nook of this massive truly open world! Cant get enough!!
RDR2 actually is surprisingly political correct in terms of story. It’s just that the mechanics of the game allows players to do certain horrible things.
It's *weird* that people would invest so much outrage into someone beating up an NPC, but ignore how much the game actually touches on suffrage, women's rights, etc. Female independence actually ends up being a key component of the story, but alas.

RDR2 is probably the closest thing we'll ever get to a true West World experience. I don't think I've ever felt more immersed in a world and setting than I have playing RDR2. The complexities of the world and the astronomical amount of choices a player has gives the game a kind of emergent narrative I simply haven't experienced anywhere else. I finished the story and still finding new things in this game man. Best built game ever for the stupendous things you can do. Like literally everything.
When I started playing Red Dead 2 I genuinely couldn't stop. I spent like 14 hours a day playing it and I just enjoyed riding my horse and feeling like the rest of the gang was my actual family. The game made me feel so emotional in some parts. And also I started playing the game like 4 weeks ago and I'm so glad it had never been spoiled for me after all those years of it being out. I had never watched any gameplay or anything. I went in blind and it was just such a great experience. I felt a sense of euphoria just riding around on my horse and even just doing little things. The game is so immersive and I'm so glad I played it.
RDR2 was a way to express yourself. I went in convinced I'd be a hardass gunslinger without a cause beyond living another day. I came out rescuing star crossed lovers from a family feud, meeting a nun who made me cry and lament over how Arthur just never forgave himself for a lot of things, and lastly: I loved my horse, the scene with Arthur soothing her as she died. Llamrei, the rare white Arabian. I can't do a second playthrough to this day. There were so many epic moments, so many laughs and so many tears. Arthur Morgan and John Marston are both well written. They epitomize heroism and badassery.

Awesome comment
You say that but I just wanna be a cowboy
Speak for yourself 😳
Not me, I spent all my time feeding everyone to alligators!
Some people don't understand the difference between deliberately designing a part of their game to do "x", and designing a game whose mechanics allows you to do "x"
But there are a lot of times where more than the mechanics had to be put in place for it to work like that
pretty much exactly. You can hogtie anyone and alligators just react like that, don’t know what Joe was thinking tbh.
Basically only people who don't play videogames anyways think it's a required mechanic
You took the words straight out of my mouth!
I always say red dead can't be played the same way twice the way you did the first time, once you restart its like an alternate reality
