I feel sorry for you bud. I’m a transmission tech and I pull these out all the time with dropping the engine.takes about 1.5 hrs to pull out. If you ever do one again. You can just use a pole jack and undo the driver side ball joint and leave the passenger side ball joint so you’d swing the frame out of the way.
These trans jobs are money makers if you do this regularly and earn flat rate. My opinion, the most difficult step is removing the damn air box on these models.
Why would you drop the whole drivetrain as one assembly? Once it’s on the ground you are no further from separating the trans from the engine as you were when it was in the vehicle. Support the engine from on top, drop the cradle down on the floor and unbolt the trans from the engine
@@MohammedAli-rh6bb this task was done on a car hoist : just support the engine remove the 2 front frame bolts , lower it just enough to get the engine support 4 bolts then let it fall out the front , dont lower the frame too much ! it may hyper- extend the steering shaft !
We bought our 2012 in may 2016. We always had a issue with the rpm needle that it never stayed even. It would jump from 600rpm to 650 rpm or 700 rpm. We took it to the place where we bought it ( woody GMC in Naperville illionis ) and the bums always told us that they cant find the issue. Bought the car with 72k on it and kept taking it in due to the other major issues that kept coming. The uneducated mechanic's kept saying nothing wrong. Right. Now we have 100k and warranty is over and what do know... they now say we think it has a piston issue. After no warranty I started doing oil changes ect...and I found 3 plugs full of oil. Car now sits in drive doesn't work. Pulled valve's and gonna have to try to replace rubber things to stop oil.. top of cylinder has pools of oil. No wonder why they didn't want to find the problem. Just 17k and now it just sits. Even tho I pay 560 month for payment. Can you give me any suggestions.
I just bought a 2012 with 101K last week. Had I known about all these issues, I would have stuck with Dodge. Did you ever get yours fixed? I too have a problem with the RPMs. According to GM Service bulletin P10919-Tachometer Fluctuation: this is NORMAL for these vehicles (what BS). I changed the plugs and coil packs and the MAS sensor. Put in premium gas and injector cleaner. I also added a little Lucas Transmission fix after changing the trans fluid. One (or all) of these things seems to help and the RPMs do not fluctuate as much. As for your oil pooling issue, you should consider installing an Oil Catch can. Also, be sure to replace your PCV valve and do the larger drill hole modification. Good luck
bro why did you go thru all that work to x change the transmission ???? i pulled out one of them trans in 1 1/2 hrs supported the motor in the car pulled the frame out then the trans ! hope this helps other venturers !
@@tcwaterdrill basically do everything you normally would, get a support bar that lies on the fenders/aprons chain it to the motor to support its weight then drop or hang and swing the cradle out of the way. if your doing it on the floor get your jack ready on the trans and make sure its balanced as much as you can. pretty simple stuff especially if you dealt with alot of euro as this is common in that field.
I bought a 2009 GMC Acadia last year from a dealer around me for 10,500 with 124,000 miles. My wife and I just had twins so we had to rush and buy a third row car. I thought I was getting a steal. We went to look at a Honda Pilot and it sold right when we got there. Should’ve walked away then. Now only one year later with 145,000 on the car and still way too much money owed on the car. The check engine light is on for cat efficiency. A crank/cam disagree. Needs new timing chains. The shocks are shot. The brakes rattle and need replaced. The transmission is on its last leg shifting terrible. So within 20,000 miles of owning it. The car is junk. Needs to be straight thrown away. Do not buy these cars. I’ll never ever! Buy a gmc again.
reminds me of when i was an apprentice, first month i get slapped on a motor swap for a 2000 chevy venture pretty much the same shit. we had low ceiling so no lifts, using blocks of wood on jacks to get the car high enough and a chain to yoink the cradle w/ assembly out. fun times.
I'm going to do one of these....looks like good times ahead of me🤣
Thank you for sharing bat man, great job.

Without dropping the whole thing*
Thanks for the info! I sure didn't get it dropped in an hour and a half! lol
pulling it from the top?? @supersexymodz
Can you post a video of that sometime?

This reminds me of doing old northstar re-seals!
I was praying for you
Love a DIYer

does tcm have to be reprogrammed with trans swap
i get the starter out by pulling the front lower engine support out ! hahaha
Did you drop the subframe on the drivers side and just loosen the passenger side? Can you email me and give me some suggestions? BCand5kids at aol

lol , that woman going in fast motion , it was fun to watch anyway
I’m in the process of swapping one right now I was wondering did the two have to be reprogrammed after you installed the transmission
Nope
What year transmission are interchangeable on these. I have an 11 that might need the trans replaced soon
Have you heard of this TSB about the shudder?
Bulletin No.: 18-NA-358
What are the chances the 3rd gear shudder I'm having is this tsb issue?
Damn you GM for designing this BS.
How much do you charge to swap in a fresh engine on one of these? How many hours?
Is it easier to change the transmission with the engine and transmission on or just take out the transmission out by it self ?
God bless you looks like a nightmare job!
Is this what the insides of our bodies look like? Oh my goonie gosh??

Mark please make a video of how you do it, to help the rest of us. Sounds like you know a lots about this.
About to do a trans on one. Would love to know how you did it faster and without dropping everything.

do you have a video of the procedure you use?
How much is the going cost to take a motor out
do it like dilbert only if you are changing the engine ! not the transmission !
200k is good for transmission to last.
trans xchanged in 3 hrs
because my GMC Acadia 2007 vibrates when it reaches third speed
Does it only vibrate in third gear, or does it continue the faster you go?
ts6034 only when the slow march takes him at all times. If the speed goes fast, it does not vibrate
@@maegonzalez217 is the torque conververter. mine was doing the same thing. but because i didnt do anything after 3 months was worse. so replace that.
in 3 hrs make about $ 300 dollars an hour for this 9.5 hr job !
Is there any way to get the engine out without using a lift?
There is a CZcams video of a guy who did it without a lift.
I did it without a lif
Always is a way
