Ill show you how to do a firmware update, and then install the unit in a 2006 Toyota Camry LE. The begenning of the video was hard to make entertaining, but the information was good. if you want to see the install please go to 22:35 which is where the video becomes more intertaining.

      Can you download the firmware from your phone

      @@CarolinaKansas79 it would be complicated. The radio is designed to locate the file and start the file transfer. It being on your phone you would have issues getting the phone to locate the correct file path,

    Wonder which dash kit maker is going to innovate and bring the mounting out more flush to the dash. Having the stereo inset 'behind the curve' of these Toyota dashes makes seeing/getting to the controls a bit cumbersome. The Bluetooth issue you describe is pretty much what I've encountered with every stereo/phone that I've owned over the years. Android Auto on these requires connection to the front USB, it's not wireless. Once you connect, I believe it fires up automatically depending on phone settings. Either way the option will no longer be greyed out. Good install!

    I have this radio and installed it, radio tuner is about 2x louder than either Android Auto or Apple Play, with radio you'll be around 20-28 volume but with phones youll have to max it out more often than not. Not sure why but it sucks. Also phones calls get garbled on my android phone (OnePlus 7T Pro) but work fine on Apple play. Firmware update is essential but bypass is to turn of RDS. Side note, when you download the update, right click on it and select "Unblock" this will allow it to update and actually see the file. Its a Windows security thing.

    I just bought the same unit. Im stuck.... Do I have to have another aftermarket wiring harness to make it work with my 2008 Cadillac DTS??.... Send help. Lol

    • @joeysgarage6211
      @joeysgarage6211  Před 2 lety

      Yes they sell a wiring kit that will mat h your cars factory plugs. You will connect that harness to the new radios harness. This will make it plug and play. It's the same thing I did in this video. Yourcadillac may require you to connect the blue remote wire to power the factory amp. Or it may require another wiring kit all together. I'm not familiar with your car so I can't say for certain

    I have this one in my civic, is there a way to get blue tooth apple car play? if not can I install a separate USB port and connect it to the screen through the back so that I don't have a cord floating in the middle of my car?

    • @joeysgarage6211
      @joeysgarage6211  Před 2 lety

      Not that I'm aware. Bluetooth apple car play is offered on higher end radios but I dont think it is on that one

    • @joeysgarage6211
      @joeysgarage6211  Před 2 lety +2

      You can use connectors or twist wires and tape them. Soldering is just what I like to do

    Joey, are you saying you couldn't get Android Auto to work when your phone was plugged into the radio via a known good USB data cable?

      @@joeysgarage6211 Do you have a trick? I can't get it to launch. I've tried two different phones and two different cables. On one phone I get a black screen, then it bounces back the home screen. On the other phone it does nothing. Both of these phones and cables worked with the Dual Dual DMCPA70 and both cables show that they're charging via the Power A USB port.
      And while we're at it, the backup cam isn't working. The camera was working just fine with the dual. However with the Power A, I get a "no signal" message. I know it's sort of working, volume drops when I put the car in reverse, but somehow the signal is going nowhere. I have another camera I can try, but I'm not optimistic it'll make any difference.
      I'm kind of hoping that the fact that neither of these work mean I just got a bad unit. I've probably installed 20 stereos over the last 20 years so I don't think it's my install (plus I've double-checked all the wiring and everything else works.

    • @hereusethis
      @hereusethis Před rokem

      OK, answering my own questions here. I finally got Android Auto working after the 4th cable I tried. I've heard this is an issue with AA, but sheesh. What a hassle. As for the camera, it's looking like my camera is dead. Luckily I had a spare to test with (and it worked). It's strange that the old one worked right before I pulled the other head unit (as far as I can tell, there's no way to short one out while unplugging it) but that's how it goes sometimes.

    • @joeysgarage6211
      @joeysgarage6211  Před rokem

      Make sure your wiring is correct. Check your vehicle power wires for power with a test light. Check stereo fuse in the fuse box. It may have touched ground and shorted causing the fuse to pop

    how many gigabytes does the usb stick have to be for the firmware update

    • @joeysgarage6211
      @joeysgarage6211  Před 2 lety

      It does not need to be very large at all. The firmware download is small. A 1 or 2 gig usb would work just fine. When the download is done you can format your flash drive and use it for other things like adding your music from your computer ect and listening to it on your radio

      The pink wire is your e brake safety. To bypass it simply connect it to the black ground wire
