    I read her book. Sergei really took care of her, she was comfortable. She did mention that her struggles were nothing compared to life struggles. She was able to learn how to live after he was gone. I can’t imagine how she’ll grow up as well with Sergei protecting her all the time. Still doesn’t change that fact that I’m still heartbroken for them…

Even then this Coach saw Greatness in them that probably no one else could see at the time. I Wish that there was a way to Know Who he was? Anyway I believe that Devine Intervention was at work. What a BEAUTIFUL program. Wow!!! Amazing to look back at their 1988 Olympic program and then watch this one. They were already excellent back in 1988, no doubt about that. But this program shows just how much “better” they became over the years, how more refined and elegant and in synch they became - even for the incomparable pair of G & G....👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

    That twist jump at 3:33 was pretty sweet. Very cool program, even with the "scary epic" music. I love the Japanese kids in the kiss and cry area at the end, pushing flowers and keepsakes from the audience on them. Katia looked quite buried beneath it all and Sergei was just trying to accept the loads as fast as they were bringing them, lol!

  • @IslandGirl-nt6ry

    I realize nothing can be done about it now, but in that last Olympic performance, you can clearly see Sergei is struggling and gasping for breath at the end, even leaning on Katia. Why did no one become alarmed by this? His father had died young of a heart attack as well not too long before that. His death could have been prevented. I will never understand this.

    • @elizabethpease947
      @elizabethpease947 Před 4 lety +2

      IslandGirl 9152 : According to Katia’s book, Sergei’s father, Mikhail, had had four heart attacks in his lifetime. Sergei’s heart attacks could not have been prevented. He had a defective gene in the make up of his body. His arteries of his heart were seen to be completely blocked at his autopsy.

    • @ravenel2
      @ravenel2 Před 3 lety +10

      No one back then would have ever thought that a 28-year-old Olympic athlete had a heart problem. No doctor would have ordered a stress test. Don’t know if that is any different now for Olympians in their twenties. His father was in terrible shape compared to Sergei and lived to be 55.
