    I actually prefer the styling of the caymans to the 911s.

      DIAMLER Cayman has a sophisticated look of its own. I agree. It is a premium expression of “all you need, and nothing you don’t”.

      I prefer Cayman to 911 period. The 911 is a terrific car, but it has become a too big, too expensive, and too powerful to fully enjoy on public roads.

    I love the way you establish what kind of car you're reviewing and comment appropriately. Some reviewers take a Lexus and complain about the soft suspension or a classic merc and harp on about the lack of cup holders etc. Hats off to you for having such a wealth of knowledge on such beautiful thoroughbreds . Also appreciate your dry sense of humor.

    Refreshing to see a dealer know the details like the engine and 911 cylinder heads. Well done!

    I have an 06 CS and love it. In high school my dream car was the 911 (1986). The 1986 991 had a 3.2L/207 hp and 192 torque. The 06 CS is 3.4L/295-hp/250 lb-ft. The 06 CS is a modern version of my high school dream car. This review is great. I love the pocket for the 9.

    At first I thought, hey! this guy kinda sounds like a mixture of Tom Hanks and Andy Roonie. Then, he was hilarious! And INCREDIBLY knowledgeable about the car. AS IF HE OWNS ONE. Very impressed. I’m currently driving my second Cayman 987econd! I somehow managed to total the first one! Now the 987 is getting rarer and rarer and incredibly sought after! Great video. I’ll be back for more.

    I know these videos are old but I took the plunge into Mercedes territory (watched ALL your videos on w126 cars) and now find myself looking at Porsche, so I’m going through these... great reviews as always. It’s funny, you review these cars the way they SHOULD have been reviewed when these cars came out LOL. BTW, the first video I ever saw of yours was of a Ford f100 or 150... ‘cause I’m kinda a Ford guy, but now I’m a Ford/Mercedes guy. Thanks and best wishes.

    Lucky enough to sell my bitcoin a few months ago a bought a base Cayman 2008. Black manual and absolutely love it. They are not cheap in Australia, so it was a dream car I thought I could never afford. Do yourself a favour and buy one if you can. They are perfect in every way.

    Porsche Cayman 987 even the base version 2.7 245 HP is the best design Porsche ever made the 981 and 718 can’t compare the last analog Porsche and better driving then the 911 ‘s that’s correct Bill 😉face it Porsche 911 fanatics this car is the real deal 😊

      987.2 is the 987 perfected, everyone should be buying these cars before they regret it, they simply dont make cars quake this anymore. the 981 steering feel cant compare and that is what the cayman is all about

    • @savariaxa
      @savariaxa Před 5 lety +1

      You are correct the 987.2 engine is a better choice but the quality build of these early Caymans the Ur - Cayman are flawless 987.1/2 period. 😉

    Anyone else notice how this guy never mentions the fatal flaw with these Porsche engines: the IMS Bearing. You should only consider buying a Porsche with an M96 or M97 engine, if you are either a millionaire, or a certified and very experienced, competent ASE mechanic. Because sooner or later the engine will self destruct. That's a $20k repair bill, for a new engine. Don't believe me, call "Flat Six Engineering" and ask them for the price for a full rebuild of catastrophic engine failure of one of these Porsche engines. Btw, you can include the 911 models too.

      @@streaydog019 I live in Southern Califronia on the coast, a very wealthy area. There aren't many cars I haven't driven, and being as these boxsters are the cheapest entrance into the porsche community, besides an SUV, I have a few friends that have owned them, ofc most of them are newer models and S's etc. and although they are huge improvements from these early 2000 models, which are pieces of junk and can be bought for spare change, I still hate the body style, outdated tech, and no feeling of a true porsche. I can run these things to the ground in my c63 without even blinking an eye. Don't bother responding it's my opinion and whatever makes you happy is great, i'm just telling you my opinion that many agree with, and can be financially explained by the HUGE depreciation in these boxsters vs. true porsches.
