I am getting a Cayman S for my 50th in 4 years, and I have scoured the Internet for years researching and lusting after this car. This is by far the most comprehensive, most objective, and just fun review of this car yet. I love how you showed all the compartments and features. In all the videos I've watched, none of them mentioned the air pump and fix-a-flat "goo". I especially loved how you mention the best feature of this car...the rear fender "hips" that make the Cayman, especially the Gen 1, very unique and beautiful.

Late to this review but thanks. I bought a 2006 S for 12k and had 91k miles on it. I put 6k into it for new tyres, electrical issues and an updated stereo. This car has never given me one problem. It's basically like driving a 911 but with more finesse and fun. Best investment I ever made.

Well done! I have a 2007 Cayman S with 278,000 miles on the clock... It is a very reliable and verrry fast machine especially having spent about $4K to go from 295HP to about 365HP with a GT3 Intake Plenum, Fabspeed Race Headers, Flashed chip as well as a beautiful machined aluminum short throw shifter... 0-60 in 4.0 seconds or less... Still gets about 23-25mpg hwy. Very reliable... 100% synthetic every 6 weeks or so with new oil filter. Common repairs Fuel oil separator at about 100,000 miles... Shift linkage replacement... Best car ever... Upgrades as noted... Faster than many 911's per my friends at Porsche of Tampa. If you get one Drive it as Professor Porsche exhorted us to do... John Russell, Dade City, Fl. "No Substitutes!"

Gen 1 all day. The most pure.

You didn't mention that the spoiler can be raised at any speed by pushing a button on the dash. So it doesn't advertise to the cops you've been speeding.

Your comments on the spoiler are not correct. You can actually raise the spoiler while you are parked. Or at any speed. It does extend at 70 if you don't do it manually. At least on my 2008 Cayman S.

Why did you tell that nonsense anecdote regarding the spoiler + speeding, while at the same time you operate it manually on camera driving 30 miles, not 75? Which is exactly the reason why it is NOT indicative of speeding?

Totally agree about the "hips", it is exactly why I think this gen Cayman looks better than the 911.

Would like to know more about care/maintenance schedule/cost; durability vs risk of break down; serviceability by independent mechanics. Otherwise, Phil, your Morning Drive was informative/enjoyable. You make a pleasant "traveling companion" ... NO smart-a language and rapid/nervous/obnoxious talk.

I bought a 2008 Cayman S last year with only 9k miles. I have owned a number of Porsche’s and by far this is the best one yet. Just an all around perfect sports can at any price.

Your review has this personable tone and you know your stuff. This is what I call a real review, as if I walked up to you and said 'tell me ALL you can about this car because I want to buy one'; and you do just that; thorough. Keep it up brother.

I have a 2007 Cayman S and your film shows everything good about the cayman but what it does not show is just what an amazing car it is also when you Really use it, red line through the gears and really push it through the corners and it still is totally on your side and working with you, a truly exceptional sports car 👍

Coming from a Cayman owner, you did a great job communicating the experience one gets driving this car, and why I may never be able to sell mine.

Excellent review! I bought a 2006 Cayman S about 6 months ago and tomorrow I am taking it to the track for the first time. I have track experience with my 2006 Mini Cooper S JCW but I am interested in feeling the difference in the driving experience between the two (front engine and front drive vs. mid-engine and rear drive). Wish me luck!
