    Great video. First one I've seen that even mentioned the filter baskets.
    One thing I'll add is you can attach a hose to the nozzle end and push everything out of the inlet side. It's unlikely, but if you do get a piece of debris in the injector that is bigger than the holes in the nozzle, this will still get rid of it.

    I spent $50 on a 2L sonic cleaner (Vevor brand) specifically to clean my injectors while the engine was apart. It was a little tricky to make sure the inside cavity was filled with cleaner instead of air, but when that's done you put an injector in a zip lock and fill it with enough cleaner to fully submerge it. Then you fill the cleaner with hot water, put the zip lock in, and let it do its thing for 5 minutes (one injector at a time). They came out like new inside and out. Probably over kill but worth it IMO.

      I also have an ultrasonic and do basically the same thing if the injectors are really old or unknown condition. They definitely bubble for a while before they fill with cleaner.

    On side feed injectors you can use a similar method for back flushing the injectors. Simply remove the plunger and slide the syringe over the injector, I use a can of carby cleaner through the outlet of the syringe connected with some vacuum hard line. Could use your method by cutting end off syringe and use the plunger to create pressure as you do.

    Just on the battery... the injector determines the current draw which will be the same whether you use a 12V battery pack or a car battery so you can certainly use a car battery.

    • @JGott0001
      @JGott0001 Před 6 měsíci

      Yep. The injector is the load (resistance), and ohm’s law current = voltage/resistance. So, it is important to check that the injectors operate at the battery’s voltage 12VDC. Also, injectors are pulsed, so they have a low duty cycle. Leaving them on continuously could overheat the solenoid inside.

    i used one of those corded 7.5v 0.500mA power packs it worked, i have used car batteries but i did notice the injector warm up in my hand.
    even at 9v dc at .75amps they get warm IF you accidentally leave it on, ended up using a momentary on switch from a windrcreen washer kit i had lying around, i destroyed an injector trying to remove the bucket screen so im just buy the tool.
    i think theres a fine line between a screw that is just right and one that just ruins your day, it was a very good injector too lucky i have spares im going to get more used injectors that i can practice removing these screens LOL

      An Ultrasonic cleaner would not penetrate the injector..🤔

    • @tinygaragefab
      @tinygaragefab  Před 11 měsíci +1

      In a professional ultrasonic cleaner, the pintle tips are submerged into the solution and cycled automatically while the ultrasonic does its thing. So yes, it would penetrate the injector because it is being cycled on and off while submerged. It's pretty cool, actually. We had one in the engine shop at one of my last jobs. I used it all the time.

    On Amazon it shows options to buy 4 -8 fuel filter baskets that comes with that basket fuel injector basket removal tool. It made it sound like the fuel injector filter baskets were all the same. Obviously not and you pointed that out but Amazon did not.
    It goes to show you how crooked this world is in ripping you off. (4) 2016 Subaru Forester fuel injectors are $500. I never knew you could rebuild these and never replaced one. I look forward to getting my car fixed as it has 84k miles and from 31-32 mpg it guzzles gas bad at 16-18 mpg which is pitiful. I put air filter, changed oil, plugs, etc.

    • @tinygaragefab
      @tinygaragefab  Před rokem +4

      This way, you can change the o-rings and strainer baskets. Also lets you know if the injector is actuating or not. When it's fully installed and the car is running, it's hard to tell if the injector is working. That's what the issue was in my Talon that had me chasing my tail for months. I was certain that the fuel injectors were working, but after I finally pulled them, I found out that they were all dead.

    so how would one know that its clean enough to work properly within the car? Cause ive seen injectors that either stream the liquid out or it comes out as a mist, which way is right?

    • @tinygaragefab
      @tinygaragefab  Před 2 lety +5

      That depends on the injector, actually. Take a look at the end, where the fuel comes out. If there is just a single hole with a little pin in it, then it's going to shoot a stream. If there are multiple holes, the stream will become more of a mist. A popular upgrade to older cars is to use newer injectors with 8 or 12 holes. This makes more of a mist (better atomization) and helps performance.
      The injectors in this video have a single hole, so it just gets a stream. I will be upgrading to 12-hole injectors when I swap my ECU for a Speeduino.

      Technically, you are correct. I guess I should have described it as availability to amps. Imagine the injector coil is shorted,or you make a mistake and short the test leads, and it has 1A from a 9V battery vs 450A from a whole car battery. One is far less likely to become a red hot disaster in your hands and potentially lead to some serious burns.

      For Ultrasonic, don't disassemble the injectors. Basically submerge the pintle (outlet end) and run the ultrasonic. You dont really want the actual electrical parts submerged. With a battery and switch, cycle the injector a bunch while it is submerged and the ultrasonic is on. As for cleaning fluid...use whatever you want that will break up old fuel crud. I would use the cheap injector cleaner like I did in the video.

      The point he makes in the video is that this method is best if ON A BUDGET. Not everyone can afford ultrasonic cleaners or brand new fuel injectors when money is tight.

    For the first few seconds I thought I had accidentally clicked on “how to evade behavioral injections at the mental ward”. I thought he was wearing a straightjacket with the facility’s logo on it and that corner was his “safe” corner. Actually I think I nailed that last part. Funny how people will fabricate a fake wall to present an appearance of organization, cleanliness, harmony, or affiliation with a more widely known and accepted entity. Sometimes to comic relief.

      Searched for your channel, couldn't find anything. Show me how it's done right before falsely diagnosing your own internal issues on me.
