Story:
Drama Serial Maat is based on a novel by Umer Ahmed. Story showed sibling rivalry. Saman (Saba Qamar) and Aiman (Amina Shaikh). Saman is greedy and outspoken girl who wants to marry someone rich someday. Aiman, is a simple girl who would marry wherever her parents say. Saman rejects a proposal of her cousin who is in love with her because he is poor so his mother asks for Aiman’s proposal which was his mother’s first choice. The story starts taking an interesting twist as Saman’s brother in law (the cousin who proposed to her) gets rich.

Even if parents allow their children' s wishes they are entitled to wonder where the hell that selfish attributes came from. Widowed mothers despite raising the children well cannot curb the influence of bad company. Being aspirational is fine but look at the means Saman adopted all her Life even when she replaces Aiman in old age she was never unhappy that she was issueless or her husband died. She has a coarse and self centred personality. Faisal went for external attributes, suffered yet chose Aiman when he had a child to bring up. Aiman didn't have a child with Faisal but she took care of both of them in bad times. But Saman did no sacrifice. Western influences teach women to be assertive and ambitious but this story shows the limits of such individualism on the family structure. One person's selfishness causes problems for others , then if everybody were to go their own way, then the family structure would go for a toss ! Social problems even in developed countries happen because of too much individualism, too much ambition and unbalanced lives !! Though sacrifices are mutual but there can be no comparability between the sacrifices women make. Men can be appreciative at least !
@@loveme6067 Ones living conditions are determined by opportunity.widows in Pakistan living in poor, undereducated situations face problems !! Even if their mother had a job, would she alone be able to rear the daughter's teaching them societal skills !!

In many ways Aimeen is responsible due to keep enabling saman selfish behaviors. Seems there is no legal system in pakistan to force a mother keep her child if she has choosen to give up her child so easily. Good story and good message to actually see why mothers suggest a certain girl or not for hand in marriage.
