When Metal Gear Solid came out everyone wanted to play as the Cyborg Ninja...so why all the bad mouthing about Rising? Sure it's not a MGS but you get to destroy everything you had to sneak away from in the other games, plus you can get it cheap on Steam.
As a Metal Gear veteran, I still adore this game. Its like Bayonetta with faster paced hack and slash mechanics with an over-the-top MG artstyle. It also has great replayability, although I kinda wished that the game had a hack-and-slash survival mode. Co-Op. That would've been nice.
This spinoff is great, and I hope they continue to make sequels. I used to be a fan for MGS, but then when I realized what it truly stood for, I didn't wanna play it anymore. MGR is badass, and I always liked Raiden when people hated him most, so I'm on good terms with the game.
this game is a perfectly 8.5 not above nor below lets not forget that it only took 1 year to make this game it would easily been 10/10 if it was made in 2 years but in the end this game is complete badass a great bonus to the metal gear franchise
Game was fun. VR missions and level system added plenty of replay value for a Hack N Slash. Fast paced, over the top, stylish and not a single glitch my whole playthrough. Best game of its genre to date. (Haven't played God of war ascension yet.)
That's a better score than I thought the game would have gotten considering the demo had a massive glitch. Its very nice to hear the game doesn't suffer from excessive technical difficulties. Now I am very tempted to get the game.
Platinum acquired Rising sometime in early 2011. They built the game from the ground up, although they used the story and most of the concepts that Kojima had originally come up with, so the game has been in developement, by Platinum, for nearly 2-years.
P.S. I give it a 6.0 solid atm. With those specific requirements met it should easily go to 7.0 and if they add what they already have not - I look at a solid 8.0 for sure!
Here's a fun trick: On the title screen, quickly press: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Square, X If done correctly, you will hear Danny Glover's voice saying, "OK pussyface, it's your move." Then Raikov will appear as a playable character. Your mission will be to try and get near as many guards within a time limit, and let them feel your crotch while swinging your blade.
I never mentioned Wolverine, but no. It's not ok for him to cut through everything because of "adamantium!!". It's as bad a cop-out as nanomachine breaking the laws of reality as a way to explain everything within the Metal Gear Solid franchise.
They did have an evade function that let you avoid every unblockable in the game. X+A. That's the only time it's actually useful. Even on the final boss it was invaluable to move away from him when he was doing his AOE move.
Well, you do got to look at some points: First, this game isn't fully made by Kojima productions, but with Platinum games, who specialize in these sorts of games. Kojima was brave enough to test out something new for this series, and even though it turned out to be nearly completely different as it used to be, it DID work out well. I myself am a BIG MGS fan, prefering the original gameplay, but I did enjoy MGR A LOT. Second point: MGS 5 is coming, and it has the familiar gameplay, even for you.
This game was fun. I wasn't pleased with it at first but I let it slip by. Only thing I didn't like about this game was: - It was Short (wish it was as long as Bayonetta or a DMC game) - Final Boss (felt very out of place but comedic) - and last How there was no evade function ( there were just to many points where unblockable attacks were next to unavoidable).
It's more like a leel progression. Think about No More Heroes sorta. The levels are expansive, but ultimately you'll be heading down one path. It's not a bad thing though, the flow of gameplay is smooth and transitions are nice and simple.
It's held its own and it's only set in the same universe, it's not directed by kojima, no mention of snake and has been said that it's supposed to be non canon
"-slightly diminishes the accomplishment." My ass! Defeating every boss battle is ridiculously satisfying in this game. There's no moments what so ever when a boss end is simply over like that. Like in Bayonetta after winning a boss fight, you crush the son of a bitch like a bug.
Any enemy who can move fast in this game will give you hell, and I mean hell. They are by far the worst enemies to fight in the game because it's so hard to keep the camera on them. It's mostly a problem because they get a random hit in from offscreen or you are trying to chase them down making your camera go crazy when you try to move it. That's the only time the camera gets bad.
I'm thinking of getting this game, but how does it relate to Vanquish? Vanquish is my favorite game of all time and if this game is anything like it then it must be great, right?
I actually have the soundtrack of the game. It's really great and I liked it a lot. All metal gear games involve a sense of polotical issues. That is the biggest thing I love about Metal Gear. The complex plot of capturing of who did what and why? It's fun. And the hack and slash is great. It's not like the tension filled sneaking. But it's fun and I get to be something new, In my eyes. I get to slash things to shit and that is one of the great things

it depends what you like most, if you are a huge fan of the MG series than you could probably look into the game, but if you like Crysis series than go for it, but if you are wondering, i got both
That doesnt mean they are smarter. They just have more buttons. Its also not impossible to play a strategy game or even a moba on console that feels good. Ever played Guardians of Middle Earth? That game is awesome.

They're keeping Konami sweet, obviously. Half the time I think this game isn't playable on a serious level because #1 the camera randomly screws up a certain vital task, and, #2 it gets repetitive A LOT, #3 graphics are bland on Ps3, and I really want this game to be good. That's why Konami should keep updating it with mods until they get the formula right! We're only on Version 1.0 atm, so I'm extremely optimistic.

I cant help but notice the lack of facial performance capture tech in games nowadays make it the graphics look pasticky and cheap. Still looks like a fun game though.
People say this game ruined the series which is funny cause It's not part of the MGS series. Because he was getting too old, if they kept the game going it would be pretty dumb with him looking 80, he wouldnt be able to move. Even with a muscle suit his body would be deteriorating if he kept going on. Also, Raiden is awesome.
I ran through it on standard difficulty in 04:55.00. About an hour of that was cutscenes. It is designed to be replayed, mind you, but to be honest I didn't think the combat, which was still fun, held enough depth for several plays.
This was 9/10 for me. Only way it could have been better was the story and final boss. But my god it has so much potential I wish they would remaster or release a sequel on PS4

The hell? How is this even a logical comparison? You have Metal Gear Solid a tactical espionage game, Metal Gear Rising an action game, and Call of Duty a first person franchise. How any of the previously listed franchise have any correlation with each other....I have no idea.
platinum games had to make the whole game engine from scratch and had to change the story to after 4 years after mgs4 so they could have more freedom with the game

No lie i just played the demo and my thumb swelled up from trying to parry every 5 sec im really disappointed at the button layout im not sure if u can change config at option screen if yes i will def buy it.

I'm surprised about the camera complaint... Using R2 and the analog stick makes it easy to change views and lock ons, so I never had an issue.
The boss battles in this game really get your adrenaline going. Not even kidding. I haven't had a game make me feel like that in forever!

This game is impressive, its fast paced, gory as hell and fun to play, its worth every penny.
