    I love Surefire but the question is do I love them because I love the idea of USA made gear? yeah...if Surefire was all chinese made tomorrow how many people would just move on to something like Streamlight instead...Its a big question...of course all brands can have problems its not a china vs US thing BUT for the money we spend on US stuff becasue of our patriotism and thought its just better is pretty high...Nothing is fool proof, but one thing we do rely on with US gear is it will keep getting replaced unlike some chinese companies who lack customer service and warranty work...I love supporting US companies but I find myself just using and enjoying more and more chinese knives and lights as time goes on without problems at a much lower cost...

      Also $200 is a lot to just give up on, that’s probably why if someone has a $20-$45 light they could just move on much easier, I know I would lol. I would have preferred if Surefire would have offered me a completely different model and put an end to this..

    How long did you leave it on? Heat can hurt flashlights and some have built in lumen step down, but maybe this one doesnt. So youd have to pay more attetion to how much heat its putting off if using on the highest mode.

    Couple of questions: with the clip you've added is there still plenty of skin contact when in use? Not excusing the lack of thermal regulation, but I think it probably relies on skin contact for some heat dispersal..?
    Second, on the second identical failure should you be considering asking for a refund? Sounds like it's not fit for purpose. :-(

      All my Surefire's work fine, have 6 models. There are other mfg's out there too, Modlite, Unity Tactical, Cloud Defenseive, Streamlight, Inforce, Insight and Olight. For tape switches on your long guns, they're seem to be a lot of complaints out there with reliability on using the tape switches. After a lot of looking, the best weapons light tape switches seem to be Surefire's tape switches.

  • @jackbauer9077
    @jackbauer9077 Před 2 lety +2

    That really stinks yours burned up. I’ve used mine a lot this hunting season, but cold weather might of helped. (knock on wood it hasn’t burned up yet.) That’s kinda worrisome, I am not a cop but this light was my everything thing light for EDC, so I think I’ll switch back to my E2D defender, I’ll miss the recharging battery but I’ll probably just carry a rechargeable steam light stylus pro, 300 lumens on height and for a pen light I’m impressed so far had it a 2 weeks. I like to have one rechargeable light for the little every day things and if using CR123 surefire lights I only use it for serious times. Don’t feel bad bout a few of us buying a $200 dollar light, not your fault surefire has a lemon, but I’ll let them slide since all other lights of there’s I have work great, I would of bought it most likely when I leaned it was duel fuel. But thank god for you to tell us about the problem so that ours doesn’t burnout in that time of need/and or life/death event. I know I’m just a EDC user but when a police officer spends $200 and depends on their light for duty, I’m very disappointed they can’t get you a light that they know will work 100%, scary they asked if it came on in pocket, that happens to all of us but I just have to recharge or put new battery in that light not fear it’s burnt out and now trash. Thanks for keeping us in the loop. Let us know how next one does for you. I really hope it was just a run of bad luck and the quality is fixed. Have a merry Christmas and happy new year buddy!

    Sadly, this issue should not have to have been elevated to a supervisor level. The level one techs should have not given you lip about it at all. When I was shopping for tactical lights, I looked at Surefire as well as Olight and decided to go with Olight. IMO, both are equally good, sorry for your issues. My Olight Seeker2 has been with me for a few years. The black finish has rubbed off in some areas, I have dropped it from a 20 foot ladder I was one and it hit concrete. Outside of nicks and dings, it still works like a champ. It also has a USB rechargeable battery.

      I personally have 4 olight sitting on a shelf-broken. All were very lightly used. One of them was a very expensive olight 11,000 lumen light. In my opinion it’s junk. Nitecore last longer from personal use..the older Nitecore keychain lights have been amazing. Beat the crap out of it for 3.5-4 years and still works.

  • @fixedfocusmediaofficial

    The Elzetta Bravo B331 with a Thyrm Switchback is the best light that I have seen so far. It is also the most durable and reliable. Elzetta also uses very thick aluminum and purposely limits lumen output for reliability reasons. That is why they NEVER fail. The fully potted electronics and 1 inch thick solid acrylic optical lenses put other brands to shame. If you need a small light though, the Surefire E2T-MV Tactician is excellent.
