I have a new Fury that’s not of the Intellibeam variety, meaning it’s supposed to be just a single mode operation at 1500 lumens on a single 18650 battery, however, if I double-tap the tail switch just right, it reliably activates a mysterious low mode that I don’t think is supposed to occur. I like it so I can’t complain about it. It feels unique. It seems like a malfunction, but it’s one I find useful.
The coolest part about this technology, is that it was released back in 2015, and to this day nobody hasn’t been able to replicate or improve this technology. Olight started doing similar proximity sensors out necessity not to burn people, but it’s not the same…
Nitecore has a smooth ring on the SRT5 that ramps from 0.1 lumens to the max 750 lumens. It can be operated with the thumb and index finger in a forward grip or by the thumb and little finger with a tactical grip. This light was introduced as early as 2009 if I’m not mistaken. IMO, this ring to modulate brightness is super useful and I’ve never once been blinded or otherwise. True, it is not the same functionality, but way smarter!
I think it would have been better if you had to push it twice to activate the intel beam because I wouldn't want to have to double tap if the first thing I shined it at was the face of an attacker and then it dimmed on them . That defeats the purpose of a defense tool .
There were quite a few reported failures on this Fury model. Something to do with the LED burning out. Not sure if they fixed this in the upcoming P1RZ-IB-DF.
My surefire fury intelbeam led burned out. It stayed on the dim mode losted the bright mode. I called surefire and had it shipped the repair was free but it took over 2 months to fix it. It should not take that long to just to change a led bulb. Service experiance was bad conserning how much it costs.
I like my flashlights dumb, and to do exactly what I tell them to do. The exact opposite of how I like my women. (Seriously, I've used other intelligent flashlights from other companies. Never again! Oh, my light decides it's been on for too long so shuts itself completely off while I'm exploring a darkened tank-farm at night. Yeah, how about no!)

I do have to add that I highly recommend using only surefire batteries. I got some knock off ones and they crapped out a lot faster.

Also the usp charging port on the surefire battery breaks easily. For the price its not worth it.
