What should Chris speed memorize next?? Leave a suggestion 👇
Colts 2022!!!!
Carolina Crown 4th movement feature! Its super cool in terms of stick tricks and such but is pretty easy to play tbh.
Troopers Closer is also super cool and has like 1000 rim shots
Blue devils 2011 snare break
@@aidanbirmingham7566 YESSS THIS PART HITS SO HARD!! When I watched it live, I literally cried omg
Idk if I’ll ever get over how nuts Boston was this year
Stupid good. Absolutely wild in person.
Allentown lot was as almost wild as the Rhythm X 2008-2010 finals lots
You mean how MCNUTTS it was
@@justicedutch nice
Jake, your editing is amazing! Timing up what Chris is playing (at various speeds) with the drumline in the video is so cool and so effective. I know that takes time, and it doesn't go unnoticed!
Oh man, thank you so much for noticing that 😂 so many hours speed ramping. I'll try it at 67% speed and it's too, slow, then 68% is too fast, so I have to split the clip and do both uggggg. Glad it works though! If Chris could just play perfectly in time without a met, that would help a ton honestly.
this entire movement is in the audition packet and i can confirm 11 does just have a 16th note roll
Oh word thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼 we figured, and Reddit did it’s best haha.
Is reds rhumba in the packet too?
@@cheeto8278 oddly enough, no
@@tapisbadatgames tough, was spanks at least there?
@@cheeto8278 yeah, along with everything else, just not reds for some reason
This book is nuts. Best battery 2022 hands down.
They were wildly good!
Ha, great job dude! Also it’s really awesome how advanced these drum books have gotten throughout the years. Really impressive stuff for sure.
Yeah kids these days playin some hard stuff
That was incredible to watch. I wish I could learn difficult pieces this quickly, but then again, I guess accurate sight reading is just one of those skills that comes with enough practice.
Wow. Incredible. Great video, great play, great editing!
Thanks as always, Allison!
Hey! You used my lot video from Allentown! Nice! And great playing!
I love your chunking process - no wasted runs, you're making deliberate use of every practice movement, even incorrect ones. But still making it seem like it's your natural way of learning. Such trust in your passive memory after hardly any work in your memory. Phenomenal!
I drummed right along! Thats a fun one, thank you. I have the McNutt sticks. They make a HUGE difference. I usually use Scott Johnson Blue sticks.thanks a million for these fun videos.
Colin and Boston did great job this year very aggressive writing which was needed coming back into Championships. It was missing. Usually a Devils and Coats follower but Boston had me... saw them during finals week up close. Loved everything
YOU ARE HIM THANK YOU. also there line is insane this year just made me that much more impressed you were able not only just to learn it but memorize it in 25 mins!!!!! GOOD STUFF BRO
Thanks Conner 🙏🏼🙏🏼
New sub! That feature is super difficult. Awesome how you pulled it off in time! It'll take me a few days to get this then get it to speed.
Yo, thanks Quincy! It's definitely quick in the hands!
Awesome video, my drum tech this year was the third snare from the right!
Fantastic work. Glad to see you guys back at it.
The only thing that I can think of that might be harder is Cavaliers 2021.
Harder?? I need to go back and watch that, we should give it a shot!!
My boy is 🔥🔥learning this is not joke! Chris needs to play this on an actual snare , SOMEBODY GET THIS MAN A SNARE 🔥🤘
Wait, didn’t they get a snare from Pearl few years ago??
It's true, we have the snare! But we have to be selective about using it indoors so our neighbors don't hate us 😅
@@ApexPercussion Pearl, you know what to do next.. send them a sound proof studio!! 😂
Boston was insane this year.
Can't wait to see what they do this coming summer!
Honestly that first run at 120 with the metronome was RIDICULOUS! So impressive
Thanks man! Just gotta start it slow!
Absolutely crazy💀💀
Yeah that book is CRAZY.
Aahh quick with it!
You already know.
The ending had me ROLLING- he’s just like F*CK it and bangs out a rep 😂 from memory 😂😂
Such a long feature 😮💨😮💨
15:15 TUDDAH CHUDDAHS! One of my favorite hybrids. I have seen them actually utilized maybe like 3 times before but they sound so awesome!
Ahhhhhhh that's right, I knew it had a name!
@@ApexPercussion a fun one at that!
He delivered.
He did his best for sure.
The fours are killers , I can play this but not at 162. Maybe around 80 or so
, You did a great job playing this at tempo .
I mean think about the levels in this they're playing this shit so high up its astonishing
For real!
I saw a transcription of this made by someone else and the 7-let into triplet was just a 16th note roll
Yeah honestly we also saw it both ways but it sounds more like straight 16ths and at the end of the day, it’s whatever our hearts want it to be
Ok, that was nice
Nice!
tocas bonito bro
I would pay to learn this like you just did no way I’m playing this 😅
You never know, gotta give it a shot! Maybe just slowly at least. It's really the speed that makes it tough
I'm 15 and learned it in like a month
amazing, look like roger carter style 27:39
Haha it be the hair for sure
YO Chris is a FREAK!!!
Thanks man!! 😂😂 collab with a quads video when you get back to the US!!
@@ApexPercussion 😮😮
What’s that’s pad? It looks like a cutting board lol but it sounds good
Hey that pad sounds awesome, what do you use 🤔
late but it’s called the chopping block
えぐ
drum break but it SNAKE!!!!
👍👍👍👍
Learn Norfolk’s 2019 BOTB snare solo
Time for a nesting tuplets lesson
So when a mommy and daddy tuplet love each other very much...
can i have the sheet music? i wanna learn it
Check out Reddit! They tend to have the unofficial sheets of things.
Hey I was just wandering what practice pad that is
The Chopping Block!
@@ApexPercussion they still sell this practice pad
What do Tenuto markings mean on snare?
A tenuto is a dynamic marking under the previous marking .. a tenuto after a forte note would be mf a tenuto after p would be mp *edit* I will say in world class material it can also be a “natural decrescendo feel/effect” so it may not have a specific height but “start here with the accent and get to tap height evenly”
Yep, what Jonathan said!
From someone who never marched DCI. Realistically how long would a DCI line expect it to take for a snare drummer to learn, memorize and execute this to perfection?
Or is everyone usually at this level of learning ability?
Honestly, some of the best young players can do it even faster than this, but in general, usually a 3-4 hour rehearsal. Chris just happens to be weirdly good at learning music quickly, and he was always the fastest in the line to learn stuff when we marched together back in the day.
Phantom regiment 21
Seriously underrated, a solid break!
It is a 16th note roll, but it was slurred.
Ohh okay cool cool, so kind of both. Yeah we were confused 🤷♀️
3rd place then 2nd place then 1st place
Truuuuue.
Wasn’t this originally written at like 174 or something
Good lord 😂 I hope not!
Idk the exact tempo but it was faster before you can the jovanna play it on her yt
91, 92, 93, or 94 Crossmen?
Ooo that's a new one! Do you have a favorite between those??
@@ApexPercussion If I had to pick one it would be the 92 show. highest scores out of all of them. followed by 91. I have the sheet music for the 91 drum break. Love what you guys are doing here!
@@ApexPercussion 97 was a hot show as well. they opened with the solo. all Mark Thurston lines.

Okay you can play that now time for the Drumline battle between Nick Cannon and the section leader
Mostly only because I want to see the sheet music to it I have tried slowing down the video when he pulls it out and he tells Nick Cannon this is crazy what you put down but it only shows like a glimpse of it
Maybe it’s finally time 🤔🤔🤔
@@jacemurphy7767 Maybe because it's not the actual music that he's playing lmao
Dirty af but sweet ;)
It's good you gave yourself 25 minutes to memorize this drum break, because the break itself is almost 25 minutes long lol. One of the most overindulgent, overwritten drum features in quite some time. No question it’s a very difficult feature and the kids pulled it off amazingly, but damn, it basically took up half the show. Brevity is a lost art for some people, I guess.
Dude, post the sheet music
We don’t have the official sheets but Reddit does! Can usually find it there!
