In this film Andy Beck takes a walk in the Central region of the Lake District. Visiting the Wainwright Fell of Armboth Fell and it's unfrequented neighbour, Brown Rigg which was on Wainwirght's originallist for inclusion in the Pictorial Guides. The terrain in this area is noted for it's lack of drainage but even on these lesser fells there are some merits such as the fine viewpoint of Fisher Crag.

The memories came flooding back watching this film and yes, a good pair of boots can't be recommended enough. Usually a good place to catch the odd 'fast-jet' flying up Thirlmere but red deer on the Lakes Fells is always a heart warming sight. Thanks for the film Andy.
Thanks Graham, yes, Fisher Crag is a good spot for plane watching, in fact one flew by as I was there but wasn't fast enough to catch it on film. On the several times that I have been on AF I have nearly always seen the deer, they seem to hang about near launchy gill.

Another brilliant production Andy...thank you so much for doing these films! I could have done with seeing this before the Christmas Quiz...the view of Ullscarf from Armboth was the one question I got wrong. I love the calendar behind you in your office with “forget it” scrawled across Jan 2021!!

Great video Andy walked all over this area multiple times love the wildness and remotest up there lots to explore great views and on a good evening beautiful low sunlight....never really had a problem or even noticed a problem with wet ground as you say its just a la'al bit soggy no horrible deep bogs as such to dissappear up to your neck in.
Love the format of you videos mate as I'd expect like everything you do very professional with a lot of work put in

Great vid as always Mr.B. I was last up there with you, I remember that large stone that you kidded me saying it actually was a manhole cover and I was trying to open it!!!!!!! Good to see the Shepherds cairn again. I need to get up to Launchy Tarn....need to dip my hand. Will just do an out and back route I think. Really enjoyed this vid. keep them coming :)

Great video. I was up there yesterday and it was surprisingly dry(ish) following the prolonged dry spell. Excellent views on a dry, sunny day.

Fisher Crag is one of the few tops I have still got to do around there and amazingly Brown Rigg is the other- so very timely. (if only we were allowed out of course). Good video and well done.
Thanks for the comment Graham. I think that the recognised top of Brown Rigg will be well worth a visit and will it's near neighbour, Bell Crags.
@@AndyBeckTeesdale Bell Crags is a fine summit but the whole Thirlemere western edge has much to offer- The Benn and Castle crag are two relatively unknown favourites of mine but best of all is the ridge from Dobgill car park, over Birks Fell up to Ullscarf- easily the best way up an otherwise dreary fell. Very quiet though, so don't tell anyone. Oops. Incidentally after getting your book for Christmas (FYI from the Cockermouth bookshop) I am looking afresh at many of the fells- lockdown may be a pain but I am putting it to the best use I can.
Another great video, looks a nice walk, when i walked armboth, i came from high tove side, and as you said , its very boggy almost needed waders in places,
Thanks Phillip. I recall that when i did the acent of the fell from High Tove we did it on the 4th Jan 2009 after a long period of really cold weather.We were able to take a direct line between High Tove and Armboth without getting our feet wet as the ground was frozen solid. I wouldn't do it otherwise :)

Bell Craggs is the fell top you first referred to as Brown Rigg Andy 👍
Actually no Darren, Bell Crags is further west of Brown Rigg and has a more prominent (pointed) top. It can be clearly seen in the film at 14.06 over to the right and at 15.42 where I identify Brown Rigg, Bell Crags is to the extreme right of the shot behind me. I appreciate you taking time to watch and comment though.
