I'm so honored to have been mentioned in the video!!
Great work man, this was a fantastic watch. Loved the portion about community. I can only imagine how many friendships have been born from gaming, some of mine included. I've met a number of people in real life through gaming, I even dated one of them for a couple of years! It's crazy how much chance meeting like that can impact your entire life...
I get overwhelmed because I want to play 5 different games I end up playing none of them.
I’m not the only one then
Same, but in my case I end up replaying Sekiro lol.
same here.
You can play almost every single game that you want. You just can't finish most of them.
@@juanramirez7522bloodborne in my case
Me: I just have no free time.
Also Me: *watches an entire video like this every time I go to the toilet at home*
Thank you for watching all the way through 😂☺️
Me at this very moment
And this is why the Switch sold so well
Honestly I have a bad problem with wanting to just play or read or watch everything that relates to something else and I end up stressing myself out over it. I got so tired of it and I ended up here and its refreshing to see a lot of people and there experience with entertainment. Honestly, we shouldn't stress out over something that is supposed to be fun and enjoyable.
I have this problem too. When ff7 remake was first coming out i decided to play the original and now i've played all but a couple of the main ff games, i've gone through and played all the resident evils, silent hills, metal gear solids, im currently going through gears of war, and splinter cell and there's a ton more i want to play and i kinda hate it because i want to finish these games so i can go back to replaying my favorite games without feeling like i wasted money on the other games 😂
@@jamesbarnett5157at least you can finish your games. Currently I plan on playing all the 3d Zelda games starting with ocarina of time and I’m about 1/3 through it and I almost pulled the trigger on buying another game to of course eventually drop and cycle repeats. Luckily I did the do it and I’m a bit more motivated to finish ocarina. I will finish a game for once in a long time!
I’ve been playing since 1989 when I 3 years old. And the biggest advice I could share is:
Avoid the addiction of online only games (games as a service). Wasted 19 years playing dota/dota2/HoN/ Hots. So many great games I had to catch on now… the only true upside was meeting a friend from another city, which now we meet at least once a year. Still, not worth the dedication of almost 2 decades to so few games.
I think they can still be fun in moderation, just as long as you do just that: moderate.
MMOs are obviously designed to keep you playing, though some say FF14 is the exception. The developers WANT you to take breaks from it and come back, which is. Nice sentiment.
@@Kranitokoproblem with moderation is these games are designed to create addictive patterns. So it's like trying to do a hard-core highly addictive drug.... In moderation lol. These companies are predatory. Many of them lol.
Recently quit Counterstrike for good. Best decision I made with video games. Now I’m coming back to more single player games. Currently enjoying Kingdom Come Deliverance. And I plan on getting Ghost of Tsushima when it comes out on PC.
@@InfinityReptar My new love in video game are FS souls like, perfect for single player, and amazing for pve and co-op, the balance of single and multiplayer to me.
I’ve been friends with some of my online friends for 20 years. They are friends. Just ones I rarely see face to face.
Depends on your definition of friends. How many of them would give you their sofa if you lost your home? How many would lend you a thousand quid to pay your rent? How many would help you in a fight? The answers to those questions could see your perceived number of friends drop significantly. Most people don't even have two or three real friends. People who play games online as their only connection, are not real friends. They are gaming associates.
@@Mal_Freeman0451 I totally agree with this take, however I noticed that for example americans tend to call a lot of people their friends, while for example in my country, we usually reserve it for truly close relationships with whom we'd whether the apocalypse. This is a cultural and individual thing, where someone perceives gaming buddies as friends, who they might've never even met in real life.
@@Mal_Freeman0451 never said my online friends were gaming friends! And yes we’ve visited each others houses, helped out when people needed it. We’re a community, and we’ve been through loss, plus celebrated the good things over the twenty years since I joined. I “talk” to them every day. I’ve been made welcome in foreign countries by online people arranging to meet up for a coffee when I was visiting. Online friends can run the spectrum from associate to close friend just as real life people do.
Have you ever met them in real life?
@@Daveighna yes, many of them! Some of them more than once. But I didn’t know any of them before meeting online.
It's true when you grow up and you get a job, your time get's shorter, more responsibilities come, that may lead to you stop gaming at all. In my experience, and the thing I'm currently facing is that I want to play a lot of games, games that are very good, but the problem is - I don't have time - our even if have time, I just can't stay 5 hours playing a game. Mainly because the only time I have is in the end of the day, at night. The thing is, I'm tired of work and I can't stay until very late in the night, because I like to wake up very early to go to the gym, and then work. So, I'm now playing Skyrim for the first time ever, and it's been amazing, the game is indeed solid and until now, one of the best games I ever played. But, again I can't play it for long hours, so you can imagine how much time will take me, just to beat the game completely. Plus, I already have other games that I want to play, but I hate to play different games at the same time, so I have to wait and finish what I started. Also, I do not want to play games like "Elden Ring", because of the reason you said in the video, I just can't get frustrated after a day of work. It would make me feel more tired and probably angry for dying too many times. At the end of the day, time may be the issue of all things.
I just can't express how much I can relate to your comment. I totally got what you say and if I can share what works for me is .... just play without never letting you feel bad about it, because life changes and the big difference since I was a child is that back then I could play hours and get frustrated and challenged, but now days I just want to chill and enjoy some feeling of being powerful or any other good sensation while playing games. Anyways, keep playing games, but mostly just whenever you can.
My husband and I are both gamers and have an online friend from Russia who we became such good friends with we even streamed our wedding to him and it felt like he was there. We play D&D sessions over webcam etc too. Definitely can say these kinds of friendships are very real and do matter.
100%!
This videos essays about time and gaming are now one of my favorite CZcams series
same here ;) original and well thought
I’m currently injured from my sport which has left me a lot of free time and I find myself just staring at a library screen for hours organising folders just to re organise them 10 minutes later whereas when I didn’t have so much time I would just hop on a game without other thinking and just straight up enjoy it.
Weirdly relatable. I have so much time and never enjoy it
While most of the internet is filled with things that incite to anger and negativity nowadays, I feel like there's a trend that started, and that this video follows - which is positivity and acceptance. Saying "it's ok" in situations in which you don't have any control is the correct and healthy thing to do. It was never as easy as it is today for people to connect, and closed doors somewhere can open different ones elsewhere.
Great content, and very healthy thinking, dude! There's a Romanian saying "We have only one life and only one hole in our ass". It is a vulgar way of saying "enjoy the moment, you'll die anyway".
Of course a nice saying from the Balkans has a vulgar part :D I'll remember this one
Another fantastic video! I don't have much to say here (except all the things regarding difficulty settings, but a diatribe of such girth would surely crash CZcams's servers).
I play with friends almost nightly. Most I know IRL, but some I've never met and have known for years and years. Thanks for reminding me how fortunate I am to have the people, games and (somehow) time to enjoy this so frequently.
I've been a bit of a hermit gamer lately. I haven't had any online friends in a few years now and it's been getting pretty lonely. Cheers for another eye opening video mate 😁
A very thoughtful video. I'm lucky enough that through work i found some close friends into gaming :) i also want to point out when if you are a total gamer maybe the love of your life isn't. That's okay. She sometimes plays with me and i know it's because she loves me not because she loves video games. I just wish i was better at supporting her hobbies too. But life often is also a game where it is all about managing your limited time (especially with jobs and kids) and interests, and even your needs
When I think about my gaming backlog I feel like quitting. Concentrate my time on something a little more worthwhile. After all, virginities don’t lose themselves now do they.
🤔
🤔
Very good, very inspiring Video! Love the style of you, talking games! 👍🏻
I'm hooked from "you can't play everything" that just randomly popped today on my main YT. Gotta say man, real quality material you puttin out lately, keep it up, u got my sub brov ;)
Appreciate it, thank you 😊 new video is out Saturday too so keep an eye for that!
Im in high school now and i just realized i have more time now than i will have in the next 50 years so im trying to overcome my addiction to league of legends and trying to play other games as i did earlier, i stumbled upon 2000s games and i really liked the aesthetics of them im currently playing nfs most wanted 2005 and im loving it, the one problem i see is lack of games i can play with my friends that arent just set for grinding and spending long hours doing repetitive things i can see it clearly that now when i sit on discord with my friends we dont really have a plan on what to play so we all just sit together and play singleplayer games even if a game is released it quickly loses player base or gets sinked in micropayments and other curses of modern gaming, i just wish i could experience what was it like 10 years ago or so.
The part about communities is beautiful. I'm so thankful that I had friends and a brother that shared gaming as a hobby growing up. To me, gaming has always been a social hobby. Even single player games count since I discuss them with friends, recommend them and so on.
On the one hand I realize I am lucky. On the other, it also takes a bit of active initiative to look for like minded people. I was always among the most hardcore player among my friend groups and most of them took it more casually or simply outgrew the hobby over time. Still talk to them to this day because we find other commons grounds. However, I've also had friends completely ghost me after 2 something decades worth of friendship and I still didn't drop hobbies for the sake of meeting new people; instead I found new friends even if it was lonely at times.
I like to think the "online friends don't count" thing is not literal but a call that you do need in person interactions and that you need a social circle irl as well. You can have meaningful online friendships (I mean, I've attended weddings of people I first met online) and that isn't mutually exclusive with socializing irl in the means you have available at least. Although if I had lived in a remote area I would probably be saying otherwise. I am projecting from my own life experiences after all.
Great essay.
Found myself relating a lot to this video. Especially the parts about needing to start a series from the beginning and trying to find communities for specific types of games. I’ve never met anyone who played, let alone even knew much about games like the trails series or rune factory but those are some of my favorites. Online communities are cool but there’s something about a face to face interaction. Also glad to see the clock again. We are close in age so seeing a rough timeline of how much life is left messed with me for a day lol.
For some reason this video is much more calming. I feel like You've wanted to show bright side of your previous video. It's not like it will magically fix anything for those who shared sad stories, but it's good to let know some people that even if they're alone in that particular moment it doesn't mean they will be forever that way and it's alright to have a different hobby like video games, which can teach You a lot. This video probably can sooth FOMO.
Perfectly balanced, as all things should be 😅
Another one! Lets goooo! Cant wait to hear what more you have to say on this topic 😁
Yup! Community is where it's all at and what gaming is all about. If there is anything anyone should learn from this video is to go out there, find and join a gaming community. Community has made a big difference in my life, and it is where I spend most of my time gaming now adays.
100%. So many potential friends out there to meet ☺️
Love this series man!
i'm currently enrolled in college, have a job, and have a girlfriend. and while i'm grateful for all this i'm lucky if i get an hour or two maybe twice a week to play games, and it's even worse that i'm a completionist that has to go for the platinum on every game i play which makes this video so much more relatable
I had a period of time where I bought lots of games because they were on sale and I figured I'd be interested in trying them, now I realize that I don't have the time to finish even half of them. Plus, when I've enjoyed a game, sometimes I wanna play NG+ which takes more time from the backlog.
So now I really have to embrace the sunk cost idea and be discretionary on what I devote my time to and what I buy in the future
In the end, sometimes less is more.
“Perhaps this game is not for you” this must be said more to players that demand easy modes in Souls games. Like Ratatoskr said: “I don’t like racing sim games, but I like arcade racers, would I demand easy or arcade modes for racing sim games? No, those games are made for a specific audience”
And this is 100% true. Not everything is made for everyone to enjoy, different people have different tastes. If they made everything for everyone. It would have no taste at all. “A game for everyone is a game for no one” Arrowhead
Totally agree. On top of that, the people asking for easy modes in Souls games (or Sifu) are almost always doing it on principle alone. Very rarely have they actually played the game they are requesting an easy mode for. Most often they hear that a game is challenging and take that as the game industry trying to exclude them from "content".
While I enjoyed WoW last year (because I'm a sweaty little grind junkie) in terms of 'get good or get out' it's definitely worse than you remember. I got the impression from classic players that it carried over to classic too.
Thanks for the video
Watched both of these videos now and it's an easy sub from me 😊 love your content!
❤️
MY humble sugestion for the next video. HOW to maximize your time playing video games, HOW to select what you should/want/can play, how to organize yourself and how to avoid FOMO from new releases. the companys will hate you
Damn the ending hit hard, amazing video!
Ah, finally, the sequel, love me some video essays. Can relate to wanting to know all references when it comes to getting into new franchises, sometimes i look up chronological order of games and play them that way instead of playing in release order too(though that can bite in the backside with series like kiseki(trails) and the like). As for people caring about how much dps and healing people do in raids? Yes, it's very much around, it always will be as long as tryhards and people that care about metas are around, MMOS are just like that.
19:16 Eh, i see nothing wrong with playing online games mindlessly, unless it's competitive coop game, anyway, sometimes it's good to just let the brain relax and have dopamine flow.
Ive also made friends purely through online gaming but they never ended peacefully, I think if you make an online friend and have a fear that if you stop playing that game, they will leave you.
Don't Worry, people playing physical sports have that fear too. They have a fear if they stop playing basketball that their friends wont talk to them anymore.
If you have this worry just knows its okay to lose a few gaming friends, if even one of them sticks by you then at the end of the day you made a real connection playing a game you both liked, and I think that's something to be treasured
Great video, unforgettable. Many people in real life are not real friends. It's hard to find them anyway.
Great insight video... (also Elden Ring deserved GOTY as you said it's beginners friendly)
Also I wished I had more friends to play different games (open minded to try) and my cousins/friends had interest in other genre games too.
Daunting is having installed The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the sky 1 and knowning that there are 11 games after it, all conected between them and all at least 60 hours to beat each.
That's 60+ hours including side content ...... Right?
@@Kranitoko Yes, with side content. Which is worth it if you ask me, Legend of heroes games are very detailed.
I’ve met my current girlfriend through discord and we connected over pokemon games, and what I severely lacked in irl friends in my childhood, online friends made up for so I could keep going, so I wouldn’t drown in my own loneliness at some point.
So yeah, online friends are definitely as valuable as the ‘real deal’. Wouldn’t be here without them.
good video keep up the good work
I stopped playing multiplayer games because I would not finish any single player. I have been much happier and I play so much now.
same for me! It takes TOOOO much practice to become good and to become great you have to put in more time than the rest (that is not worth my time)
Plus I am not going to spend that much money for Sony to allow me to play online with PS plus and like you i am now happier
No insults or getting trolled or disrespected by strangers online
Fellow mancunian! Couch co-op it takes two def deserved GOTY.
Trying to empty out my backlog ended up with me removing over half of it as it was just too many games and honestly it's a great feeling to have all that weight lifted
I relate to that commitment thing really hard. Couple months ago I sat down to understand the entire final fantasy franchise and all the main and spin off games. I started from the very first game, it was PR version. Didn't use magic the entire game now I'm stuck in the last final boss, and have given up on the entire franchise, even though the later games which are 3d open worlds are something I dig a lot, I just want to understand every small references made in the those games lol
That ending piece hit different, thanks kranitoko😭❤️
I needed this. I'm currently there. It's not fun.. it's like I'm locked up
Brother, what is your microphone setup lmao it's so good! high quality video!
Just a Yeti microphone 😊
@@Kranitoko I'll have to just get a better voice I guess LMAO thanks
Honestly I wish companies showed interest in preserving older games they made back then, since that will allow us to preserve aspect of gaming history well also allowing the next generation to play them if they’re ever curious or if you don’t have the console to play them.🐱
This was a great video ! It really helped with my perspective on things. Id like to use that clock you used in the beginning of the video. What website or app is that?
It's just a countdown on timeanddate.com ☺️
struggled with this problem for soooo long especially as a completionist had to really sit down & decide which games mean the most to me - soulsborne baby
Lol thanks for the "i have friends" song, added it on spotify
I want to share my story with gaming. I was a gamer since a childhood. 90% of my gaming were either co-op or playing online competitive games. After that I've felt that there's a ton of awesome and deep games, and this playstyle leaves me focused only on several ones. I've decided to list and play all the games that intrigued me, the games that had a crittical acclaim. Mostly my focus switched to single player experience, because you can finish the games, or drop it without arguing with teammates.
Now I have over 350 games finished and more than a thousand waiting for their time. I've made a table in notion, review and score games for myself. I've enjoyed this life style. At one hand it made me appreciate different genres, it gave me feel of Meta Progress - I'm not just playing around but collect and complete important games. On other hand it is kinda fake, and sometimes it takes silliness and fun from the process, sometimes gives me feeling of needing to complete the list. Sometimes I feel that the table of games is more fun for me than gaming itself. I'm trying to have balance here.
From my experience it is better to drop games that doesn't awe you, that aren't impressive. It is far better to replay the games that feels right, than try to complete underwhelming ones. My reviews help me remember games I've played, so it was a positive experience.
P.S. Guys you can write me and we can complete some games together! Europe\Asia is a preferred region.
this channel deserve so much more.
It Takes Two wholly deserved the GOTY award and I really hope you find someone to complete it with some day, it's worth every second, and the time taken to play it.
I couldn't agree more with your sentiments around the FromSoftware games, there's something to be said about accessibility in gaming, but the Soulsborne franchise is just for a certain crowd. Though I believe all those that want to experience the games but don't have the skill set, ability, or patience to get through them could get something from being an audience member to someone else playing. Online or otherwise, they on't get the same sense of achievement, but they'll have someone to root for and cheer on. So they'll get that same dopamine hit whenever the player they're watching overcomes their adversities. Also I'm currently playing through DS3 for the first time, Demon's Souls will be next and will... however sadly, be my last FromSoftware game after proving to myself I could manage them with Elden Ring back when it came out. I still can't believe I conquered Sekiro, man... what a game!
Also the "It's Okay" video is great, I watched that myself a few weeks ago. I'm always being recommended Videogame Essays... I follow so many essayists. Daryl Talkes Games, Razbuten, Adam Millard, Writing on Games, barelyfanatical, filmotter, mhswoocer, Perfect Game Quest, and most recently... yourself 😁
Everyone has something to say, I find it so fascinating hearing so many thoughts and views, all of which I can resonate with or that change my own point of view for the better. The only downside being, my backlog grows, so... thank you for making me want to play a number of 30-40+ hour games just that bit more with just this one video 😂
I hope so too to your first point ☺️
When you say Demon's Souls is your last, I assume it's because you've now beaten them all? And yes, Sekiro is such a wild challenge; genuinely tempted to go back to that game some day! I follow Daryl but none of the others so I'll have to check them out ☺️ thank you for being a new follower!
@@Kranitoko yes Demon's Souls will be my last to beat, my order has been; Elden Ring, Bloodborne, Sekiro, DS1, DS2, and now I'm nearing the end of DS3. Absolutely incredible games!
@@PinchedSlinky I thought you were gonna stop playing FromSoft games. AC 6 is awesome too.
Awesome video! Do you play mainly on consoles (ps5 or series x) or more in PC?
Nintendo switch: Crying in the corner...
I usually play Playstation 🙂 but I own all the current consoles
@@Kranitoko nice thank you! Yeah i pretty much own them all except for xbox.. but i seem to always reach out to my ps5 first before any of the others lol (pc, laptop, steam deck, switch)
i still haven’t watched the video, but by the title i know it was perfect timing. I got into singleplayer story-focused games a while ago, after playing some souls games I played RDR2 and was mesmerized by how well a game can portray a story. When i finished the game there was a huge sale on xbox and bought Bioshock the collection and The witcher 3. I finished Bioshock 1 just yesterday and have the other 3 games to play, but i started seeing some story games recommendations and i already have a huge list and i’m lost lol. I already wanted to play Outer Wilds, RDR1 and Firewatch but they were not on sale. Now my list is a little bigger so if anyone can recommend where to start i would be grateful. I’m thinking about the 3 games i mentioned and Celeste, What Remains of Edith Finch, Life is Strange, a short hike and The walking dead. I will also most definitely play silksong at launch (i also wanted to play games like Ghost of Tsushima, Spec Ops: the line, Omori and TLOU but those aren’t on xbox)
i had a online buddy i talked to like a best real life friend. we parted ways for some time and i reached out again, we continued where we left off. at one point he invited me over for a business opportunity, long story short, i moved 12 years ago and we still going and back then i really had to get out of where i was. very rare, but dismissing online is always fake is certainly not true all the time. got to be careful though as its a lottery
I got far into It Takes Two with my partner, but then we broke up lmao. Time passed and now I’m having the best time playing the game with my brother. It’s taking us a while because it’s hard to find the time but it’s been awesome.
I also have not finished Super Mario Bros Wonder because I played the New SMB series with my brother and friends growing up, so I promised them I would not continue the game without them. It’s definitely taking us a while but it’s worth it.
I played it takes two with my cousin and it absolutely deserved GOTY. We had so much fun and definitely enjoyed our time
In like a dragon gaiden there was a side quest with one of the detectives from judgement and tons of other characters from the other games so in a way you need to play all of them
I KNEW IT
I haven't been able to do it but the best idea I have is, choose ONE system to play on and play only that. Biggest difference gaming as an adult, I have every system and multiple consoles I can play anything and everything in, it's too OVERWHELMING
Having my first serious girlfriend at the age of 32 I find myself at a weird crossroads.
On the one hand I enjoyed 5-6 hour gaming sessions, getting lost in different worlds, being someone else, but it was only because my own life was admittedly mundane. Now I have someone to care about and do things with, yet I still yearn for those long play sessions.
(she's not a gamer either, can't win 'em all)
15:00 it's like that with Guild wars 2 and it can be depressing
When I was a kid, I was fine playing Sunshine and Wind Waker repeatedly, doing the same things on multiple playthroughs. Now I dread NG+ on games, I haven't even touched Dark Souls once I finished it and don't feel ready to go back.
It was easy during childhood and teenagehood because I had no money and also a shitty PC. So I was already very limited. I had much fewer games, but that also meant I could take my sweet time with them. Now I have hundreds of them and I often don't know what I should pick. Should I play this game that's been sitting there unfinished or never touched, or should I yet again replay one of my 50 or so all time favorites? And out of those which one exactly, because I feel like I'm in the mood for all of them at once.
My main 3 rules to maximize the amount of games I complete are:
1- Don't worry about trophies or achievements
2- Avoid playing online games or games as a service
3- Stop playing a game if I don't like it and move on
These 3 rules have helped beat a *ton* of games, and since I have a Modded Switch and a PS5 with PS Plus Premium I can't afford to waste time
1:25 nice one mate
Cant tell you how many games ive played 70 percent of a game and just stop and never finish it or games I want to play but just never end up buying, and most of them are the big triple a games
So many new games bought only to stop playing halfway through and most of the time I watch CZcams while playing Slay The Spire on the phone. I should probably hold off on buying a new game and let the "new game phase" pass.
i personally think anyone can beat a fromsoft game. it took me 3 years of trying the various games before the combat clicked with me, and to understand that death is more of a mechanic than a failure. "get good" shouldn't be seen as "you suck at the game, just get better at it" but more as... "you can be better than the challenge you face." obviously the losers who say get good don't mean that, but it's how i changed my perspective and overcame the games.
a lot of games take away your agency to make the game as fluid and non-frustrating as possible and that mainly means means you don't die as much. when trying a souls game for the first time, that comfort is taken away from you and you get frustrated. the more you play, the more you change yourself. you become more resilient and you get less stressed when a giant monster is swinging wildly at you. the way to get to that point is simply patience. we are all extremely stubborn and we can persevere, it requires practice.
but since this is a video about time, i totally understand how taking the time to do what i just said is unrealistic. it can be done though! i think the easy mode mods are great for those who need a boost to get into the games, it helps build the muscle memory especially. the intended challenge is always there for them when they're ready for it.
these two videos are fantastic. really makes you think and reflect.
People hate themselves and are self defeatist
This game is perfect for people who actually goes thru this problems and they understand it. (It takes two) me and my wife we just love it! ❤
the one problem i have is: i played elden ring and lies of p (which everybody said is harder maybe even harder than dark souls) but i just can’t finish dark souls, the furthest i got in ds1 was blight town , and i gave up , should i try to start over or just not play the game , and also the you can’t play everything video made me realize that i shouldn’t play games again just for the sake of playing something, thank you
So relatable.
The same applies for movies, books, events, etc.
I am a Brazilian in a Journey to Beat 10k Games on live, i started not that long ago, and in this Monday i will start the game 10/10000+ Skyrim, i started this in the hope of rise money to fix my health, study , fix my home maybe, a couple of year ago, i start something similar i would Beat 2k game in 5 years,i beat 194 in 5 months, and working, but my mother passed away and this made my life that never was easy, even harder, for years a put my life aside to take care of her, and now i was alone, a lot of good and bad things happened since. And I started over to make live e now with no time limit and i started to look for games to add to that list, and to be honest after i look up for every generetion, is hard to get to even 10k with games that are a little bit interesting at least, so i know that i can´t play every game ever, but i am pretty sure, i can play every game that i want to realy play, even bad ones haha.
That's... A lot of games. I'm in my 30's and I don't think I've even played more than 1000 video games across my lifetime, so 10,000 is a wild goal, but good luck to you!
That's... a noble goal. Any roguelikes you plan on beating?
I already came to terms with being mostly alone in my life, since nearly nobody seems to share what I like in the same way and I think it's somehow OK? Maybe it has something to do with my autism too, but there I havent met one person in my life being so passionate about videogames, (horror)movies and extreme music (Grindcore) as I am.
Got a loving girlfriend and daughter, I share some hobbies with her like riding motorcycle but again, not with the same passion and as I said, I think that's OK?
Still I hope that I some day find a friend that invites me to a round of retro gaming, comes over for a halloween party / movie marathon and goes to concerts with me.
It's entirely possible. I think there's still that stigma in the world that having autism is a bad thing and therefore you can't have friends; it's not. There are people who are just like you out there that you can relate to, it's just a matter of looking in the right places.
i buy alot of bundles of games for steam among others like ps exclusives here and there and just ALOT of games in general. but with work and whatnot its hard to play as much as i want. losing interest randomly doesnt help. i got like 600 plus games on steam and will never finish most of them sadly.
I can relate.
Seeing Gronkh in a non-german video was so strange. It felt so natural as I consume the same amount of english content as I do german but when it clicked, I was blown away
Well he reacted to my You Can't Play Everything video, so I thought it was only fair 😜
@@Kranitoko Oh really? Didn't see that one. Really nice act on your part!
I did a list of unfinished games, then I tried to be playing maximum 3 games at a month, stick to the schedule and you'll be filling the list in no time.
I grew up being called weird for gaming and being on my computer all the time, met my best friend on dayz like 15 years ago now lol we hang out all the time and have been through many life challenges together, most of them being some awesome gaming memories haha it amazes me today i tried to make a few new friends gaming and everyone is SO sensitive, i loot a body thats not my kill just say something maybe im not sure? like geez lmao then they delete me like how do yall make friends playing games anymore, people just GIVE UP too like they don't want any challenge I will play for 5 minutes and they get "bored" or have to have the entire thing explained to them... which i don't mind but it never gets that far lol am i going crazy...? oh and let's not forget the CLOSET HACKER i mean are you fr??!?!?!?!
Ive learned to only have 2 games i want to play downloaded in my ps5 and the rest are games idc for. Which forces me to play and finishes my games. I told myself every game i buy this ima finish. So far im 3 for 3. Rise of The Ronin is next this week.
My problem with Yakuza is they’re just too damn long. Yakuza 0 was perfect because it was a prequel, was the best in the franchise and it just felt like this awesome crime syndicate soap opera - and it was incredible. I rushed through Kiwami 1 and 2, got burned out on LaD and didn’t play any more games because I was so overwhelmed by how many of them they were, and they were full fledged RPGs too.
But Yakuza 0 - I could honestly go back and replay that due to how self contained it feels. SO good.
I hope you did at least play Majimas Saga in Kiwami 2 since it carries on the Yakuza 0 story 😅
I bought it takes two a few months ago hoping to find someone to play with, but I did not, so I haven't played it.
I’ve really tried to find an enjoyable game and actually finish it in multiple mini sessions. Finished AC origins yesterday and now trying to finish the Witcher for my like 3rd time (only because I keep wanting to do all the side missions before the game actually ends lol)
Balatro soundtrack goes hard
This intire series can be summarised by dealing with FOMO. Fear of missing out. Maybe a bit crude. But an example.
Elden Ring wasnt made to be fully explored. It was made with the intention of people having different experiences, so much that is missable, suprised that you can stumble upon and the items that you find able to shape your character.
If you fully explored it, siffed through everything with a ruler, the sense of exploration would be gone, you would see the same enemies over and over and not have any suprised left halfway throught the game. Having seen most the areas and enemies. But if you play through it exploring and being guided by landmarks, then you will not be bogged down by copy paste dungeons, you will get bits and pieces to wonder about, find gear to shape you and find cool stuff, and you will be able to watch other playthroughs be wildly different. This is also the only way to not be fully overpowered. All of this can be ruined by the fear of missing out.
The problem isnt not having enough time to play everything... To play and do everythint will ruin your life. The goal is to let go of completionism, perfectionism, thinking about what you could have...
And luckily, everyone is able to do that in a lifetime ♥️
Discovery, living in the moment and gratefulness is something everyone has access to.
I think we get caught up thinking as your kid self because you used to have so much more time... Back then you didnt know as many games and youd play all of them... but you also just explored without experiencing FOMO.
My problem with co op games is my friends usually play f2p games and dont want to spend money on games
the commitment part is why I avoid playing rdr 2 for all these years as a pc player, nah man I just can't start a game without playing its former title so either I'm gonna wait an eternity for rockstar to release the first game on pc or someday give up and watch a recap of the first game, and this situation is same for new god of war games too lol
Honestly it’s okay to play RDR2 before the first game. RDR2 is set before 1 anyway. It doesn’t matter which order you play them.
As for RDR on PC, you can very easily emulate it
My problem is that with game you have no idea how long it is untill you play it. With books you can see how many pages there are. And while you can google how long it takes to beat any particular game I wish it were somewhere in the cover or something.
I guess you could say that about books too. Although you can see how many pages, how long it takes to read varies from person to person after all, depending on reading speed and how complex the book might be to read.
Same could be said for games, someone could rush through and take 8 hours, another could take their time and take 18 hours. That's why How Long To Beat exists instead which gives you the average of people's playtimes. It's hard to put a stamp on it like you can with movies which simply have a set runtime.
The WoW stats on players was still a thing in 2020. I don't play wow myself, but a friend of mine did and he told me about the stats, and that bad players got kicked out. I hate anything multiplayer/online for that reason.
😮💨 yeah.
Me in the middle of Witcher 3, FFX, FFIV, fallout 4, new Vegas and re play of elden ring for dlc
I've got 15 games in my backlog that I've yet to play. It's a pain.
Only 15? Luckyyyyy
I end up getting a bunch of games and never playing them
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend reference let's go!! 🤩
Great video!
Its so depressing how bad i am at soulslikes. So many games id love to play that im more terrible at than you would ever imagine. Literally never made it to a first boss of any soulslike not one time ever. And believe me ive really rreeaally tried. Im just terrible af
Funny enough the Souls series normally has a soft easy mode - magic users! Except in each subsequent game magic gets nerfed again until we get to Elden Ring where the 'easy' Magic builds are glass cannons that won't survive anything.
Exactly me
From software bought the rights to Dino crisis...so csnt wait to see if we get it
Except they didn't...
I feel like i could solve this problem much easier when i EAS. Life as a marine is hard enough that by the time i get off work i go back to my room and barely have time to watch anime and go to the gym. Get up at 0500 to pt at 0530, finish by 0700 latest and get to work at 0800, just to barely get off at 1730 the earliest is retarded. I have to be asleep by 2000 to 2100 the latest to get up at 0500 so i get like 2 or 3 hours of personal time. If i go to the gym, thats 1.5 to 2 hours. I shower again after which is another 30 minutes. I only have time to play on weekends. Even then i go off base the entire time so im not couped up in my room rotting away. This video really struck a chord with me especially because of how i feel ive lost control of my life. Even getting corporal didnt help. It just made my work more stressful because now its somehow my fault that some fuck DUI'd into a japanese family without a SOFA license. Cant wait to EAS and continue my civilian life.
I disagree with the yakuza section. I have played all of them & imo they are written so you'll understand the core events and each characters personality. You won't know the history, but irl you don't know anyone's history when you first meet them. Kiryu mentions things from his past the same way an irl person tells you about their past before you met them. The game handles it like that.
So. This is it. I will do it. The pile of shame will be done by the end of the year. No f#ck1ng excuses!
The story of my life.
