You're doing great for just starting out! I have trained many truck driver who can't do what you have done! Couple of tips.. 1)Always back into you camp spot. Makes it easier to leave. 2)Through pre/post trips minimize damage and repairs.3)when backing take your time! Never rush, Always get out and Look, an pull forward to straight the Trailer with the spot your backing into. Doint worry about the angle of the Cab. Looking forward to seeing you're progress!! Keep up the Great work!!

Hi Sarah, Your videos are awesome. I am an older gentlemen who recently retired and really enjoy your videos. I have an
Airstream Flying Cloud 23 FBQ on order for delivery in 2022 July (after a 10 month wait). I am looking forward to the adventures that await and have been watching your videos to learn from your experiences. I am also a newbie and reversing my trailer will probably be challenging initially but I am confident it will be a breeze after watching you. I will definately be buying the weigh safe distribution hitch and a number of the standard items shown in this video. Yes several CZcams videos also recommend the weigh safe hitch. You are doing a terrific job. Way to go Sarah👍

Practicing is so smart. You have plenty of time. There is no rush and it's daylight. Backing up after dark is definitely not fun and I highly recommend not doing it. Always try to arrive at your campground during daylight hours.

Nicely done 👍, and that's with a single axle trailer which I understand are more difficult to back up. I am a newbie also, just picked up a brand new 27' Globetrotter. Dealer was in Los Banos, Ca. I drove it all the way up to Seattle (alone) so I went over the Siskiyou pass like you did but northbound. Coming down that pass was white knuckle driving but I made it. Subscribed and watching your progress...watch and learn, as they say.

Good idea to get the trailer weighed. And the weigh-safe hitch is an excellent choice. You might already know this, but your payload rating is the more important number when towing than the rated towing capacity of your vehicle. You are much more likely to exceed payload long before you get close to towing capacity. Your weigh-safe hitch can tell you your tongue weight (which is an awesome feature). You just need to add that to the weight of the hitch and all the gear in your vehicle and passengers (yourself and the pup). Then check your door sticker just inside you driver side door. It will list the payload capacity of the vehicle. As long as your tongue weight, hitch weight, gear, pup and yourself are under that number, you are good to go. If not, you could try moving some of the gear into the Airstream as long as you keep its weight below the max rating. It is a balancing act, as is everything with RV life.
If you are over your limit after adjusting gear storage, there is not much more you can do other than get a bigger truck. There are no mods that can be made to a vehicle to increase its payload (be careful of people who say otherwise). The risk to being over payload is stress on the vehicle frame, axels and suspension. Also, if you are in an accident the insurance company might deny your claim if you are exceeding the limits of your tow vehicle.
Keep up the great videos. You already have better story telling and editing skills than most beginner RV channels. I look forward to seeing your next adventure.

    So side mirror extensions.they will
Help you when you back in.with the extension you will see

Great video. As you are doing...only way to get better at backing your trailer is practice, practice and then more practice. It will become second nature with time. Best backing tip I ever got: if I am the least bit unsure, stop get out and look around. Last thing I want to do is bump into something and do some damage when it can easily be avoided. Even in a campground with someone waiting, take your time, stop get out and look around if necessary. Most folks understand well and don't mind a couple of minutes of waiting so that someone can back up their rig, and if they don't understand, then I guess tough luck for them.

I know that it feels more natural to put you hand at the top of the wheel but if you practice using the hand at the bottom of the wheel it gets easy. I learned that way when I got my first horse trailer and after awhile it just became the natural way to do it and I got really good at putting my trailers no matter what size, just where I wanted them to go. Practice it awhile and you will find it is much easier.

I agree with you that the hand on the bottom of the steering method seems hard to feel comfortable with. It's a quick way to get someone somewhat functional at backing a trailer, but once you head understands what the vehicles are doing, just go with what feels natural. I think that keeps the overall stress level down a bit. And I always feel like a bit of "stop and just think about what you want the trailer to do" (like you appear to be doing) is the secret. Good job!

If you can't see it in the camera just stop and get out and look way better than damaging something. 2nd: Never Rush (not saying you are). I'm not a patient person so I have to tell myself to wait and slow down. In everything with the trailer not just driving or backing up.

Great job, Miss Sarah! You look suspiciously like ya know what you're doing... 😏
Just always remember to take your time and don't ever hesitate to (G)et (O)ut (A)nd (L)ook if you feel unsure - time isn't saved at all if there's damage to life or property! 👍
Safe travels and keep the rubber side down. 😊🙃
