You’ve made any kind of album you want, except rap of course which I’m truly grateful! Your commited to helping save the environment, which is very noble! Beautiful song and cool picture. I actually chatted with Neil in that room in 2011. A friend is on the board of Bridge School and invited me to the dinner before the show the next day. Cool beyond the beyond. His wooden Indian was outside on the porch!!
Seen him 5 or 6 x each time a very different show weather a solo,an acoustic,a country or a computer show,all amazing,especially wen I looked around and saw at least half of the crowds eyes were very shiny.seeing hard core bikers grown men openly emotional during" old man" and various other tunes that were touching the souls of thousands is a powerful reminder of the greatness of a legendary songsmith.KEEP ON ROCKIN!

20 Years a go i was thinking this voice sound so wrong, but i found out, this is the only voice for his music and Lyriks, and now there is not even 1 day without this voice and I like the stories from his mom and the mom of BTO, when they votet for their sons and songs in Radio, a wonderfull chance of helping their unknown sons

So me and Neil go way back, I’ve only got within a few feet of him twice or possibly 3 times, seen him from afar many, many, many times and that old man has touched my soul way too many times to count.
I may not always agree with all of his political views, but I’d say I do probably 80% of the time, perhaps.
So I was born in 1957, I do recall listening to Mr. Soul when it first came out and shortly thereafter, my buddy in elementary school had a big brother who owned a lot of records and we listened to Buffalo Springfield and Neil Young‘s first albums way back when they first came out, I hope I don’t get my buddy in trouble with his big brother, he may never of known that we listened to his records, but I don’t think we scratched any.
I remember listening to Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere on a cassette in my underdash RadioShack $250? cassette deck I had underneath my 1968 Mustang back when everybody else had 8 Track tapes! This was in 1972.
OK trying to stay on topic my 2 or 3 close-up encounters with Neil.
The first time I think I met Neil and to be sure I don’t know if it was really him or not, but me and Chris B think it was him.
I was hitchhiking with Chris B back to Portland Oregon after we flown down to San Francisco on One Dollar promo tickets we got from some fly-by-night airline.
We had run out of money, hitchhiking home, and had gotten a ride from some old hippie guy in and old Datsun wagon (I think) and we we ran out of gas up on a hill Marin County.
Low and behold it this guy with really long hair driving a dark green early 50s (I think Chevy, could’ve been Ford) pickup with a guitar case and a dog in the back stopped and gave us gas.
As he was driving away Chris B. and I looked at ourselves and said was that Neil?
I think we were both just too shocked during the actual event, and I really think that it was, I wonder if Neil would remember, I wonder if that old hippie would remember? Actually that old hippie might be way over 110 years old by now so maybe not.
OK the second one was not a close-up encounter but it was the first time I saw Neil live and it was 1985 in Cheyenne Wyoming.
He made a detour on his scheduled concert tour, because Cheyenne had been hit by a monster storm, in fact one of my coworkers and her little son were killed in it, very sad.
The concert was in the same place for Cheyenne frontier days has a rodeo and it was very awesome.
OK back to my first FOR sure encounter with Neil. My first wife and I were at a bar in Beaverton Oregon, the circumstances surrounding our visit to that bar were very bizarre in and of itself but I have no bearing on the fact that as we were sitting there cocktail waitress walked by and said to her coworker hey that’s Neil Young I’m waiting on, so I said really how do you know and she showed me his American Express card.
Sure as shit it was his American Express card!
Not being one to intrude, we stayed at our table but when Neil walked out with three guys in suits and ties all I could do is stare at him while he stared back at me.
Well I was building up the courage to go talk to him my wife was in the little girls room and I was waiting for her to come back because she would’ve had no problem saying hi. By the time she got back it was too late and of course I blamed her for not being there but there was only myself to blame.
I later looked into it and I kind of think he was talking to some folks about Lionel, train company. But at the time all I could think of was the irony of seeing Neil having drinks with a bunch of suits! I can vaguely remember him wearing a leather jacket with crazy horse on the back.
I think that was about 1991 or so.
Needless to say I have seen Neil many many times in many venues in Seattle Portland and the bay area as well as the concert in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Including a very memorable time with all five of my children and my second wife in Portland a few years back!
That brings me to encounter number three or number two depending on if the first one was real.
Was attending a Neil concert (I think at the very same venue) with my first wife, who being a smoker, wanted to go out and have a cigarette during the intermission, so she did and she never returned, leading me to be a bit upset.
After the concert we found each other and she assured me that I would be meeting Neil in person. While I did not actually talk to Neil, I did meet and talk briefly to his manager Elliot (who has since passed away), and I was inches from Neil as he stormed through the door and out to the bus as fast as his long legs would move.
Actually I think he went right past the bus and went strolling down Main Street, dodging traffic with flying feet, and he is still there today…
He is like the first voice you hear from the womb: sure, dominant, saving, embedded in your blood.
The absolute best through time and space. Left home when I was 15 and he's been on my journey ever since. Thank you Neil love with all my heart.
He should have a great career. Very talented.
