Loved this song since I was 13. Played it over and over, not knowing what was ahead in my life. I lost my daughter to fentanyl and the needle. She was 3 years sober. She broke her toe, took to the streets for relief, and what she got was laced. I’ll always love this song. But now it haunts me.

I went to the last Neil Young concert. If you're thinking about going don't!!!! It sucked. Worst concert I've seen in years.

a little twist to this ! In my case i'm the old man who had an exceptional son [ he was an only child ] and divorced his mom when he was ten. Before we divorced ,he and I were extremely close ! He went on to earn a full academic scholarship to college,graduated valedictorian and went on to graduate from UVA law school specializing in intellectual property .He is doing extemely well and I'm very proud of him ! But I remember him telling me it doesn't mean that much to me to mean that much to you ! We haven't spoken in over a dozen years. I still love him very much but all actions have consequences .

I miss my grandma. I hope to make her proud someday.

I've listened to this, like many, for a reminder of my dad. I'm a clone of his dad, my grandpa and they didn't have the best relationship. We had a rocky relationship growing up. But the last 10-12 years we've been able to connect and get closer. Communicate better. We do alot of work together. We all are Jack of all trades, building and remodeling houses together. But our primary trade is hvac. I know I remind him of his dad but I think he's come to see how different we are too. We like alot of the same weird foods, same hands, look identical, both are taller than other family members, have the same habit of calling out bullshit. It's strange how genetics work. But instead I am an hvac tech, a martial artist and a writer, my grandpa was a navy man. I'll always think of our complex relationship between my dad, grandpa, brother and I.

My Dad passed in 2008, from complications of Parkinson's disease. He was always so strong and it hurt tremendously watching him wither away physically and mentally, but he never lost his spirit. I remember hot July days at the family cottage, working with him on some project and this would be playing on the transistor radio. The other day, I was working on a project at my own homestead and realized he was still there, guiding me. Dad was a mechanical engineer. I was trained a biologist but now I am studying engineering later in life. Dad, I'm a lot like you were.

Neil is the best singer-songwriter, ever. I discovered him when I was nine years old and I was a fan, immediately. A time when he shared his “heart of gold” with the world. 💛 No one can come close to what he’s shared with his fans. Ever. “Love you, Neil and thank you for your music. “
