    Did you test it with H2testw? Fake storage cards are often formatted in a certain way to display a fake storage capacity when the real capacity is really only 4-8GB

      +CuroeGamer I recently uploaded a video on my channel of a fake Samsung Evo SD card being tested with H2testw, it claimed to be 64gb, but only 4GB were returned as OK.

    No no no please dont buy cheap cards, I experienced a big drama with it. it actually showed the printed memory in the explorer. I backed up irretrievable recordings of my own on it and stupidly made the second backup from this card. and almost all the films were gone!!! The card actually had a lot less memory and all the films just looked as if they had been saved. So there were data and folders available, but the data had no content! The films even stated their size, but it was all fake and nothing could be played. and it was a very important event for me that I filmed. irretrievably lost!! Now I use a program to test each data storage before use. It's called H2testw and it's free. It writes the card full and checks the memorysize and whether the data is ok. worth gold.

    This is a damn painful video to watch because it actually encourages people to go out and buy them. He called them a great thing without even testing the card properly. Most of these fakes are simply real cheap 2 or 4gig cards with the firmware hacked to report them as a larger capacity.

  • @narkoz161
    @narkoz161 Před 9 lety +42

    This is not how you test a micro sd card. There are software for this purpose. They write random data until the sd card is full and try reading it back. If the card is not genuine, you can read only couple of GBs and rest of the data is lost. Try putting more than 10GB to that micro sd card and see that you cannot read that data back.

  • @BrainSeepsOut
    @BrainSeepsOut Před 9 lety +85

    There are much better ways to test an SD card. You didn't even bother to try and see if the capacity is real or simulated. It's probably a 2gig card pretending to be 64gig.

    • @goodman854
      @goodman854 Před 9 lety +25

      Donald Murray No he didn't. Checking in the setting as what it shows up as wont show you the true capacity. It is probably a 2-4GB card like Brain said.

    • @DocFripouille
      @DocFripouille Před 9 lety +9

      Donald Murray Brain is totally right, this video is utterly useless. He did't at all test the SD card he simply showed us that it works but has problems. Fake cards and real cards have one major issue, the fake is NOT the real size it claims to be. Meaining you HAVE to test the ENTIRE card to see if its a real 64 gig card and he even hinted that there was a weird amount of higher free space on this card. Chances are, this is a 8 gig card that was hacked so to make you believe its a 64 gig card. Which means, beyond 8 gigs of file, the rest will all be corrupted.

    • @vmaldia
      @vmaldia Před 9 lety +1

    • @GeorgeHafiz
      @GeorgeHafiz Před 8 lety

      +Striker FX You put them on, but do they come off exactly the same? Hash the files you put on and hash them all when you take them off. You will find that the total file size of correct hashes will correspond to the actual capacity of the flash card, e.g. around 2, 4 or maybe 8 GiB.

  • @SimonCU
    @SimonCU Před 8 lety +30

    You didn't do a real test!!! You need to put in at least 60GB of movie files inside. And you will know it will not hold that much data. Likely it will hold max 8GB.. the reason why your photos were ok with the card is because your photos were only using less than 5% of the space. If you use 90% of the space you will see you will have problems with your files. Your video is not very informative. Checking the size of the card using "my computer" is not the way to test the size!!! You need to put at least 60GB of movie data files inside!!

    • @OutOfTheBoxThinker
      @OutOfTheBoxThinker Před 8 lety +1

      It's also important to test the files you copy. On some fake cards, you actually can "copy" way more GB than they actually can store. On those cards, older data ends up being partially overwritten, which results in data corruption.

  • @faizanjoyia
    @faizanjoyia Před 8 lety +30

    Hello I hope that you can answer my question. I recently purchased an action camera the Akaso Brave 4 and I'm trying to figure out what type of 64GB micro SD card do I need. I would like to be able to record video in 4K, but some people are telling me that the Akaso Brave 4 does not record in reel 4K. I don't know what that means because the camera has the option to record in 4K, 2K and 1080p HD and 720p HD. So I hope you know what I am talking about and I hope that you can recommend a 64GB micro SD card that I should use with my Akaso Brave 4 action camera, that will give me the best video quality when I am recording. Weather it be in HD or 4K, thank you so much I appreciate your time and I hope to hear back from you soon!*

    The first few Gigs do work, because there is some actual physical memory on the card, e.g. 8GB. However, the stuttering shows the chip is most certainly not of the advertised speed, and likely defective to some degree. It's better to buy trusted lower capacity drives than to play around with fake flash that does not have advertised capacity, speed, and has a high chance of failure in the nearby future (see tier 3 flash memory). That is not something you want your photos stored on.

  • @robbiemoritz5476
    @robbiemoritz5476 Před 9 lety

    The thing you should check is if it actually holds all the 64Gb. I bought a cheap 128Gb card, and it says that it has 128Gb of free space but if you put even a little more than 12Gb it says that it is using the memory, but the files are all corrupted or will not open with anything I try to copy over after the initial Gb's. My 64Gb card was getting full with about 58Gb on it, and I tried to just copy it all over, and it said it used 70Gb/128Gb but only the first few files that it scanned over actually worked.

    You should do more than copy a couple files and see what happens. You should run programs to test the size, ie they create dummy files, or fill the device up and see if it errors out at some point. Otherwise if you can't verify a 15 dollar 64gb card is legit, then people will get burned like i have.

    • @rhampton1914
      @rhampton1914 Před 9 lety +1

      Exactly...you are correct. just because it reads 64gb doesn't mean it is. once you store 50 or so gb worth of applications, you may encounter crashes and errors. i have a fake 32gb card and it's really only 8gb and being that i know that already i only use 8. so worldgate989 is correct....i will spend the extra money and go to best buy where i can return if there's a problem and get it exchanged all in the same day..

    Thanks for the upload but I feel compelled to comment on that whole ordeal. How hard was it really to spot the differences in font and overall print on that sdcard? Especially when you had an original to compare with. The differences were quite large, the cards were not "pretty much identical" as stated... And another thing - now if the card do look "pretty genuine", as stated in the video, obviously it is a fake. It's either or, it can't be a little fake or whatever. It should look "absolutely genuine" for it to be original.

      I myself bought two generic SDHC cards from two different sellers. The cards were 64 and 32 GB, but soon I discovered that the pictures I took with my phone were corrupted. It turned out the cards were actually only 8GB cards that had been reworked so that any computer or phone would think they were 64 or 32 GB, respectively. The sellers quickly refunded my money, but so what? As soon as I get a refund I believe I will no longer be able to post a negative comment, and Ebay happily lets these sellers of fake goods continue their bad practices.
      Once you start reading about the fake card business, you will find that the scale of the operation is unbelievable. I got most of my money back, but how many will realize that they got a fake card in their phone? And how many will know that they can get a refund? Not many, I'm afraid.

    Capacity- Be carefull with fakes as they make it so the card say a 64GB will show 64GB in windows- Great!! BUT-- when you put it under a tester, you discover it isnt and FAILS the test with only a portion workable at best and bad blocks. You have to test these cards as the average user sees its what it claims and gives good feedback then tries to fill up card only to find errors and loss of data and even "reformat" warning" and cant find card!! A Good card made from a reputable manufacturer PASSES the test and shows full capacity and no bad anything. You can download the testers to do this and even to check good cards for errors ect...

    At my first glances I could tell that's a fake because I bought the exact type they're replicating and at cheapest I found a 20 dollar one at best buy and the adapter was different. You can't get a good micro ad card that cheap without a few problems. Mine also came with a protective case for the sd card and it's adapter. Also if it's genuine it shouldn't have 64 gb it should be missing a few available gb on it. So yeah.

    I expected a storage test to see if its really 64GB , not 8 or 16...

    Not a good review. Reviewer did not use any specialist tools which are widely available to determine whether *** reported *** capacity was indeed the *** actual *** capacity. Even a simple format would reveal this. (Although it would have to be a "full" format and not the "quick" option).

    dude you didnt test the card properly, you have to use a write and speed program from the pc or laptop

    It is not fake... It is just the older version of class 10 ultra cards with 80mb/s of speed. SanDisk do not manufacture this card any more, this is a reason why it is not available on sandisk website .... New cards comes with A1 100mb/s written on it.

    The movie file was corrupted because those cards actually pretty small and start overwrite when exceed their real capacity. I have one and in reality it's 2 gb.

    Just always slow format the sd card to NTFS file system and if its successful than 90% its fine

  • @lupusprobitas

    This isn't really a proper test, the card obviously didn't support the speed it should, the fact that the app crashes should be a warning sign, but still he seems to recommend it, which is ludicrous.
    He didn't bother testing what its actual speed was, there's even a USB adapter so he could do it on a pc in a jiffy, or he could probably have gotten an app for the tablet.
    Not to mention he did not test whether it actually had the capacity it claimed by either filling it up or preferably using a program like h2testw.

  • @aetheryeon
    @aetheryeon Před 9 lety

    Well you didn't even test it that properly , The thing is with these fake sd/usb cards/drives they try to fool your firmware into telling that your drive has a capacity of 64 gb , You should try to copy it to it's full extent then you can tell for sure if actually bought a 64 GB drive
