Before anyone else comments, Heath did NOT get depressed or mentally ill from playing the Joker. He didn't lock himself in a motel and he was only in character on set. His family and friends have said that he was happiest while doing that film and he only got depressed again AFTERWARDS he was mentally ill and playing this role helped if anything. Don't spread anymore misinformation
Chris Nolan said nothing makes him more furious than this lie of his mental health he always had trouble sleeping apparently and had a bad mix but absolutely it’s all misinformation
Finally, someone that actually has their facts right. TDK wasn’t even his last movie, he plays Tony in Dr. Parnassus. He died halfway into the shooting and was replaced by Jude Law, Johnny Depp, and Colin Farrell. The actors actually agreed to combine the money they made from the movie to create a trust fund for Matilda Ledger, Heath’s daughter.

The media always likes to spin a good yarn, I mean look at the panic they tried to create with 2019’s Joker. The misinformation around Ledger’s death was utterly ridiculous and so disrespectful.
Health Ledgers Joker is arguably one of the best portrayals of any character ever.
It’s also ironically one of the most radical and different takes than the usual joker, yet is still somehow perfection, I don’t know how Christopher and Heath did it but they created an almost better version of a character, than his comic book counterpart

Arguably one of, if not THE best scene in the movie, in my opinion.
The fact that the jokers plan to turn this saint of a man into something despicable like him with a conversation in a hospital bed, after the most traumatic thing dent has ever gone through. is so amazing.

Heath Ledger's Joker was an 11/10 but Aaron Eckhart's Two Face was still an easy 10/10. I just loved his kind of gentle kindness that cracked in places to show the raw intensity of the man who would become a villain. "YOU CAN'T GIVE IN!" His intensity was incredible. I loved Heath Ledger since I saw him in Patriot, with Mel Gibson. Was heartbroken when he died. Still haven't seen this Batman movie, bc it was his last. I guess I want to remember him as he was in Patriot. May never be able to watch this Batman movie.

Actually The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus was his last film. He didn’t get to finish shooting all of the movie just most of it, and so they brought in other actors Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law to finish it off and it works surprisingly well. Anyway Dark Knight wasn’t his last film and it is kind of a shame you haven’t seen it because his performance is so ridiculously good. That said I understand wanting to remember him for his performance in the Patriot - though personally A knights tale was always one of my favs.

The Dark Knight had so many great performances Eckhart gets overshadowed. That Two Face in any of the newer films would be lauded as the best performance of DC in years

Heath Ledger's Joker stole the show, but people really sleep on Aaron Eckhart's performance as Harvey Dent/Two-Face. The next person to play Gotham's Apollo on the big screen will have some big shoes to fill.

Each actor was the absolute best for their respective roles: Heath Ledger was by far the greatest joker, Micheal Cain was the greatest Alfred, Aaron was the best two-face, Christian Bell was the best Batman, and so on. Simply the greatest Batman movie ever made.
